Review

Portsmouth Heavy Rock/Punk/Stoners Tirana new EP is a serious blast of in-yer-face pissed off riffs and grizzled vocals to match. The EP wastes no time in creating a very cool sounding Punk/Stoner Metal atmosphere.

Opening track – Top Of The Wall – sees Tirana adapt a care-free attitude with the music changing from Hard Rock to Heavy Metal with relevant ease. The guitars has a certain alternative rock/metal feel to them whilst the vocals remain in the Punk/Stoner Rock arena. Tirana even find time to add a few psychedelic elements to their music but the band are mainly here to play a familiar and refreshing Stoner Rock/Metal sound.

Second track – Going Green – has a certain Red Fang-esque quality about it especially with the fast-paced guitars. Tirana add spiky vocals and lyrics for a very cool and raucous party-rock atmosphere.

The final two tracks – A Shadow Black and Book Of The Dead – is where Tirana impress the most with the band playing the EP’s heaviest sounds. As the EP drifts from one different style of music to the next. It’s mostly within the Stoner Rock/Metal genre but this is where Tirana become more confident with their music. The instrumental work is superb and the vocals are heavy as hell.

I do want to hear more from Tirana in the future. Though maybe another EP before a full length is released. Just to see if the band stick with their same hybrid Punk/Stoner Metal sound. Or if they decide to change things. Hopefully not too much. Until then, give this EP a blast, as it’s a superb record.
