Review

Cursed is the 2nd album from Belgian Noise/Punk/Hard Rockers – Sons Of Disaster – and it sees the band continue their blend of Aggressive Punk Rock, Skate Rock, Hard Rock and Heavy Metal with a twisted bleak energy to match.

Cursed comes straight for you with both barrels screaming right in your fucking face with the opening Punk Rock/Hard Rock blast of DIE MOTHERFUCKER opening this album to an almighty racket. The music is fast-paced and the vocals have a manic and violent energy to them. This album isn’t the most subtle thing to listen to but that has never been Sons Of Disaster style and never will be.

The band continue their speed-metal energy with huge enthusiasm that can be quite addictive in places with the raw and in your face Punk Rock sound holding everything together. Songs such as: “Frites, Putes, Bagarres”, Burning Hearts, U.S. Bitch and Fuck You – are the ones that impressed me the most with Sons Of Disaster allowing their Heavy Metal aspect of their music leading the way to some mighty impressive riffs.

The album is superbly produced which throws the listener right in front of the action. As the band feel like they’re playing a highly volatile gig right in front of you. The music is always constantly moving to it’s own beat and Sons Of Disaster feel too out of control at times but that’s one of the albums main strengths. As the whole vibe and mood of the atmosphere is moving in one destructive direction.

If you’re a fan of Hard Rock, Punk Rock, Speed-Metal and Heavy Metal then CURSED has everything covered on that score. Sons Of Disaster sure live upto their name on this album and prove they can play some of the nastiest sounds with the best of them.

Excellent and Highly Recommended.

The band have said this about - CURSED

Cursed is our second album which took almost four years of blood, sweat and beers to finish! We had originally planned to call it Boozin' and Drivin', but due to various setbacks and problems that crossed our path while making it, we considered it something of a “cursed record”. We were constantly fighting so I left the band for six months after telling every telling everyone to fuck off. We’ve had three drummers since our first album; a crazy-as-hell sound engineer, a vinyl that was pressed where one song didn’t have any lead vocals… Cursed, seemed appropriate.” GREG (VOCALS)
