Into Orbit are a Post-Rock/Post-Metal duo from New Zealand who add elements of Space Rock and Doom Metal into their music. Their debut album – Unearthing – is packed full of different sounds and visions as the band fully explore their full musical landscapes. Fans of Pelican, Telepathy, Kylver and Russian Circles will enjoy this.
The album contains 9 tracks as Into Orbit take you on mind-expanding progressive journey where the doomy atmospherics allows the band to inject waves of space rock sounds. Songs such as Dark Matter, Stone Circles, Caldera and Gilgamesh all convey subtle riffs with an air of intelligence within them. The progressive rock/metal themes are a major highlight of the album as Into Orbit experiment with their sound on each individual song.
Bands who merge so many different genres normally become bogged down with ideas that often feel flat. Into Orbit have no such trouble as they've created some highly intriguing and original sounds of their own. For a duo these guys are insanely loud.
If you're looking for a different take on the Post-Rock/Post-Metal genre then look no further as Unearthing is a beautiful work of progression and melody.
Excellent and Highly Recommended.
