Review

70s Psychedelic Doom Rockers – Doomicidal – finally release their epic new album Shadow Of The Gallows and it’s gloriously theatrical and OTT as you would expect. The strange and wonderful vocals from Migo is what gives Doomicidal their trippy and psychedelic vibe. If you’re a fan of traditional Doom Metal Bands then these guys will be music to your ears.

The album is a weird kaleidoscope of different styles of Doom Metal with shades of Stoner Rock, Psych Rock and Classic Rock attitude making an appearance here and there. It may take a few listens to fully appreciate how good this album actually is. As there is a lot going on within Doomicidal’s music and overall theme of the album.

Songs such as: Hengewitch, Rats In The Wall and Hangman – are the first 3 opening songs that prove how strange and very surreal Doomicidal actually are. These guys aren’t your average Doom Metal band and that what makes them so damn good. The music can be too clever for it’s own good at times but it’s addictive and fresh for a Doom Metal album.

The production is good whilst retaining a classic and organic sound which Doomicidal used to their advantage. So expect a loud sounding album when the heavy riffs appear. Other great songs to check out are: War Crimes, Autumn and the excellent Murdermaids which is perhaps the standout song on the album.

Shadow Of The Gallows is a superbly entertaining album and one that will make you a fan of Doomicidal in no time at all. If you’re looking for a new band to worship and take over your soul then you’ve come to the right place.

Excellent and Highly Recommended.
