Review

Twenty-Twenty is the debut release from Italian Psych Progressive Post-Stoners – IKITAN. The singular song runs exactly for 20:20 minutes and is boosted by the band playing an intelligent style of Stoner Rock that moves into other areas of heavy music such Prog Rock, Post-Rock, Psych Rock Grunge and even a dash of adventurous Cinematic based vibes as well.

The song is neatly structured into small chapters where IKITAN play different styles of music and remind myself of YAWNING MAN when the band switch to the heavier style of Desert/Post-Rock interludes before moving back into familiar Heavy Rock territory.

There are lot of different musical flavours held on this single track EP to hold even the most jaded of music fan’s attention and that’s down to the fantastic instrumental work going on between all 3 members. Any release that includes the mighty “COWBELL” amongst the instruments being used is always worth a listen.

I do hear shades of Pelican and Russian Circles on the later stages of the record and it would be cool to see where IKITAN go on future releases. This is an excellent sounding record despite being recorded during COVID-19 Lockdown. There are some exciting styles of Stoner Rock grooves that have allows IKITAN to become more confident with their musical surroundings.

Twenty-Twenty is a superbly entertaining record that you should all check out now.
