Amish Hex
Review:
Amish Hex is the new song from Doom/Stoner Rockers Almost Honest and it’s a conceptual track about a bullied Amish child who finds a mysterious magical book where the boy conjures a vengeful wizard from who then takes revenge on the folks that have wronged the child.
Well, Almost Honest have their Doom Metal and Occult Rock credentials there just within the story itself. The music is a different story with Almost Honest playing a fast-paced style of Stoner Metal grooves that draws upon bands such as Red Fang with traces of Black Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult shining through.
The song works best when Almost Honest embraces the seedy attitude of the 1970’s Doom Rock scene with that Classic Hard Rock mentality. The music still offers a thrilling style of modern day Doom/Stoner Metal based heaviness. Throw in some epic free-flowing grooves and a song that truly RIFFS hard.
With an excellent concept behind this track, if this is the basis for future material then Almost Honest could be onto a winner here.
Excellent and Highly Recommended.
