Review

Greetings all,
This time around, I had the absolute pleasure of checking out the brand new album Temple from Toronto metal monsters Olde. Temple is the bands 2nd album and it is an absolute titan. I completely dug their first album, I, and to be honest, I did not remember it being anywhere near as heavy as this monster. Olde brings you no frills, guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. There is no need for any extras as these guys pummel you hard from beginning to end. Throughout the record I was reminded of some of the best of metal titans Lamb of God. I also could hear a bit of the band -(16)- killer record from last year (Lifespan of a Moth). Olde is concise, powerful, and they go straight for the jugular. The subject matter is dark and doom inflected. The lyrics hit you like a jagged sledge hammer, delivered repeatedly with no stopping. Olde has delivered some serious goods with Temple.
The first three tracks on the album are an impressive onslaught, all clock in at around 4 minutes and will leave you reeling. Subterfuge and Now I See You start the album off. They are heavy, dark, aggressive doom. The Ghost Narrative slows the tempo a bit, but it isn't even close to a break from the brutality. These songs just set you up for the album Centerpiece. The title track Temple, is a seven minute beast that is a large plodding goliath of the heavy. You could almost catch your breath if the next song Centrifugal Disaster didn't hit you with some serious, almost psychedelic feedback and riffage. Maelstrom is the next monster. A big, bluesy riff hits you on this killer, killer track. The closer is Castaway, another massive track with an epic closing feel.
Temple is an impressive beast. It is no frills, killer doom metal. Olde has delivered unto us one of the heaviest and, quite simply, one of the best albums of the year. Do yourself a favor, find this record and give Olde their due. Congratulations fellas! Cheers to you all!
