Review
Praise
The Sun debut album IN: Thermoglobal Endpoint is a raw sounding and
heavy psychedelic experience that draws influence from the likes of
CONAN, SLEEP, UFOMAMMUT and Black Sabbath. This is AMPLIFIER WORSHIP
of the highest order. As the band play a refreshingly different style
of Sludge/Doom/Stoner Metal with a dirty Fuzz Rock attitude being
played in the background.
The
songs have a distinctive sound as the band go back to basics by
creating a very raw atmosphere that allows the listener to be front
and centre of the action packed groove. Songs such as: Arctic
Awakening, Temple of Lukos and Everything, crystalized – offer
down-tuned sludgy grooves with moments of Psychedelic Doom riffs
batting against the distorted vocals. The vocals aren’t the most
polished you’ll ever hear but the music more than makes up for this
as the Drone based chants add a real menacing presence to Praise The
Sun’s overall sound.
The
dark and gloomy atmosphere is quite soulful and progressive in places
and I didn’t expect that at all. IN: Thermoglobal Endpoint feels
like it’s a concept album in places. As the lyrics tell a
captivating story even when matched the hard-hitting riffs. The
whole feel of the album maybe too OTT and THEATRICAL in places but
this is a Sludge/Doom/Stoner Metal album so we can allow the more
fantastical aspects to reign supreme on this album and it makes for a
well more rounded experience.
Praise
The Sun music can be very dramatic in places especially on songs such
as Voidwalker Reborn, Fractured and Remain. As the music becomes
heavier and a lot more experimental.
Overall,
IN: Thermoglobal Endpoint
is an exciting and
brilliantly realised album that allows Praise The Sun to create their
own sound. Some people may complain the production is too raw but
give this album a few listens and you’ll soon realise how
great this album really is.
Excellent
and Highly Recommended.
