Sludge Metallers PIECE Release New Song SPHERES Featuring NATHAN MISTEREK From GRAVES AT SEA

Piece is a sludge metal band from Berlin Germany that was formed in 2017 and since then has released an EP, a split record with Canadian Band Empress and the full-length album ‘Ancient Greed’. 
Piece plays fast paced sludge metal in the vain of bands like High on Fire or Crowbar.

The song "Spheres" will be featured on a split record with sludge doom band Arsen from Stuttgart Germany.

The song features guest vocals by Nathan Misterek of Graves at Sea.

Piece say about the song "Spheres“:

"Spheres is one of our fastest songs and has been a really fun one to play live. Lyrically the song revolves around the collision and conjunction of two universes and the chaos that is evoked by that. Musically we displayed the collision in the first fast part of the song and the conjunction in the later slower part that builds up to Nathan's guest part.“

San Jose Instrumental Post-rock Duo to Release The Last Stop Ranch EP Via Entelodon Records in September

On the heels of their second EP Fever Canyon, San Jose-based instrumental post-rock duo IN THE PONDS will release their third EP, The Last Stop Ranch this coming September.

The Last Stop Ranch works with a classic rock tone palette—sizzly SG humbuckers and wobbly delays, to name a few primary colors. For the band, discovering the tracks was like stumbling across the mouth of a cave; something about it makes you crane your neck towards the dark. This is the music they imagine you’d hear from a dried-up well if you lowered yourself down and listened to what the walls had to say.

The Last Stop Ranch was recorded by guitarist David Perez and mixed by Art Bertik. The front cover artwork was created by bassist Jennifer Gigantino.

IN THE PONDS is a poet and a filmmaker getting married and starting an instrumental post-rock duo during pandemic lockdowns and California wildfires. It’s a honeymoon spent in quarantine, staring at soot-filled skies wondering how to capture feelings of isolation, dread, and love without using words. Their music pays homage to classic rock while experimenting with atmospheric textures for a sound that’s both familiar and otherworldly.

The Lowdown

Lyrically based on August Strindberg’s “A Dream Play” HIGH STRANGE infuses their dark heaviness with a surrealistic edge. “Woe Upon Man” is a depraved cacophony of metal and noise primitivism, injecting blasts of fetid doom with mangled thrash. Massive slabs of rotted noise and low-end rumble into a seething mass of claustrophobic horror, creating a diverse and mind-blowing avant-heaviness.
