Psych/Acid/Stoner Rockers AcidSitter return with their latest Hall Of Mirror which tackles real life events on this brilliantly surreal track. It’s best to the band themselves to describe what’s going on:
“from the 2022 invasion of Ukraine to the rise of ChatGPT—into a haunting vision of a bot-flooded future where humanity gets left behind”
This track sees AcidSitter touching upon real life themes and world events but set against a backdrop of Acid Rock, Psych Rock and Stoner Rock. The whole thing is quite frenzied but also naturally real at the same time. The music has a choppy and unapologetic delivery which can be quite outlandish and schizophrenic at the same time.
Though, that’s how AcidSitter plays their music. The vocals are a bit over the place but they have a real aura and presence to them. The music is always engaging and brilliantly heavy even when set against a backdrop of distorted loops, indie rock beats, space rock sounds and kooky Seventies Rock freakouts which makes the whole thing slightly crazy throughout.
There’s a great message hidden within this track with AcidSitter delivering in their own unique and great way. As they blend Sixties and Seventies based Rock Music to a modern experimental approach which left me wanting to hear more. As the last thirty seconds is where the real magic happens as AcidSitter plays an intense blast of Sludge, Punk, Fuzz, Garage Rock and Stoner Rock grooves that are amplified to HELL. That was a great way to end the track with and proves that AcidSitter knows how to whip up a destructive atmosphere when the mood calls for that type of music to fully appear.
Let’s hope there’s a more substantial record from AcidSittter being released in the near future.

Review
Ego Death Safari is the debut album from Psych Stoner Rockers Cult Of Chaga who bring a world weary and supernatural tone to the creative outline to the album which explained by the band themselves below:
“Ego Death Safari” is a shamanic journey into the unconscious of the post-modern man, structured around four ritual stages, each associated with a track. Four animal entities — the Black Devil Fish, the Caracal, the Owl and the Lizard — embody four divine forces that take possession of man on a healing journey through the four human spheres — emotional, material, intellectual and creative/sexual — and the four elements associated with them, in the order of water, earth, air and fire.”
As you can see the record is quite spiritual, ritualistic and quite there but with that aside, Cult Of Chaga have created a thoroughly modern Psychedelic experience that taps into the legendary Stoner Rock scene with some groove orientated Doom Rock and Fuzz Rock passages. There are some great Progressive based elements which delve into the freak-out side of Psychedelic Rock and Classic Rock.
The vocals from Mirk Ciccone are quite hard-hitting with a determined delivery with flashes of Hard Rock independence being his main scope which gives Ego Death Safari a truly aggressive tone. He’s superbly backed up by Fabrizio Paduch who also provides excellent drums along this journey. The record is quite ritualistic with its gloomy synths and shamanic storyline allowing the band to become almost Occult Rock obsessed but still bearing the Stoner Rock/Metal framework. The sound does become slightly off-balance within the tracks Not Interested Anymore and Caracal but it only adds to the great musical experience that Cult Of Chaga brings to the party.
There are great sonic instrumental passages throughout the album that fully develops and explains the out-there story that resides within the album. The record does have a classic sound residing within the production side of things which gives the album such a vibrant and urgent delivery which becomes fully realized within the final two tracks of Go with The Fool (La Noche de Los Búhos) and Godzilla.
The later stages of the record feels inspired by the likes of KYUSS, FU MANCHU and The Obsessed but also superbly different at the same time. Each track offers an exciting different chapter for the story to fully develop. The eerie Cosmic surroundings add a sense of danger into the music which Cult Of Chaga fully taps into and delivers some of the best and most interesting sounds on the whole album.
This isn’t your typical Psychedelic Stoner Rock album but it’s good to see a band like Cult Of Chaga go with an interesting premise for this album. As it’s quite a surreal and out of body experience at times but it’s the thrilling grounded melodies, grooves and sounds that make this album most definitely worth your time.

All Damned Switches is the debut album from Take The Tides who play a varied style of Instrumental Rock that explores areas of Psych, Stoner Rock, Desert Rock, Post-Rock and Ambient Rock. The band seem to have every corner and aspect covered of the Instrumental Rock scene. The album is quite solitary in places but soon becomes more warm-hearted and deeply engaging with Take The Tides developing a heavier style of music that could easily be considered Stoner Metal or Post-Metal which comes across superbly well within the tracks Sunken, Lunar Dunes (Slight Return) and Atacama Witchdance.
There are times when the tracks suddenly move suddenly into the next track especially within Sunken and Resurfaced. This is a great tactic which gives the listener an unexpected level of surprise whilst keeping with its core Ambient and Post-Rock delivery that allows Take The Tides to branch out into heavier instrumental waters.
There’s plenty of trippy sound effects spliced throughout the album which can be quite Post-Doom based which was a great surprise as Take The Tides offer a challenging and unique style of Heavy Instrumental music. You can hear influences from the likes of Pelican, Russian Circles, Earthless, Karma To Burn, Monkey3 and ROTOR in places but Take The Tides standout on their own creative ground thanks to their great use of sublime AQUATIC themes heard within their music.
The record is quite progressive and forward thinking when Take The Tides combine different elements of Psychedelic soundscapes which even become fused with Jazz Rock and Space Rock atmospherics. Though, it’s the great use of classic Stoner Rock/Metal templates that makes All Damned Switches such a refreshing experience where a heavier musical presence allows the listener to fully lose themselves and perhaps immerse with the album even more.
Sonic experimentation is another highlight with this record as Take The Tides offer a deep dive into the finer details of Instrumental Stoner Rock on tracks such as Lunar Dives ISlight Return), Atacama Witchdance, Escapism and Oannes. The instrumental passages become more commanding especially when Take The Tides a heavier approach with their music whilst still delivering plenty of soulful Ambient based Post-Rock sounds.
Though, for most of the time, Take The Tides fully reside within the realm of Heavy Psychedelic grooves that can be quite dreamlike and superbly aggressive at the same time. All Damned Switches is such a refreshing and highly original record that left me utterly mesmerized by the intense and superbly played music played from beginning to end.
The production values are excellent and superbly realized that allows Take The Tides to put in a commanding performance throughout whilst also developing some highly original musical sounds of their own making especially within the later stages of the record.
All Damned Switches is a masterful record that every committed follower of the Instrumental Rock scene needs to add to their collection right now.
Swedish heavy metallers BAND OF SPICE have signed to Ripple Music for the release of their new album "Fathers in the Sky" on January 22nd, and deliver the first single "Weak And Dangerous" today.
Band of Spice is back with a new album that promises to take listeners on a journey through the cosmos and straight into the dark alleys of the human psyche. Blending the ferocity of classic heavy metal with the raw, unpolished energy of alternative grit, their new album Fathers in the Sky is a thunderous clash of sound. Lyrically, the album explores a fascinating duality, weaving together themes of extraterrestrial existence and the gritty reality of everyday life. "We explore the strange behavior of humanity," the band explains.
The opening and closing tracks serve as bookends to this theme, dealing with the possibility that we are not alone in the universe, and perhaps never have been. Between these cosmic pillars, Fathers in the Sky dives deep into the strange, often contradictory behavior of humanity, touching on subjects ranging from war and hate to hopes and dreams. Prepare for a sonic collision of interstellar proportions!
New album "Fathers in the Sky" - Out January 22nd on Ripple Music (LP/CD/digital)
Guitarist and singer Christian “Spice” Sjöstrand has been writing songs and recording music since the 1980s. He first played locally with the band Aeon in his hometown of Värnamo, Sweden, and from 1993 to 2001 he was a member of the Halmstad-based Spiritual Beggars together with Michael Amott (Arch Enemy, Carcass). The successful album Ad Astra led to international tours and major festival appearances alongside bands such as Slayer, Pantera, and Queens of the Stone Age. When Iron Maiden made their triumphant comeback in 2000, Spiritual Beggars, together with Entombed, were invited to join them as support on the subsequent European tour. Since then, Spice has also released albums and toured with The Mushroom River Band, Kayser, and My Regime.
In 2006, Spice formed the solo group Spice and the RJ Band, later renamed Band of Spice, which has since become his longest-running project. The music spans a wide spectrum of rock, both heavier and softer, and no two albums sound alike. Attentive ears may pick up influences from artists as diverse as Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, John Frusciante, Dire Straits, and Monster Magnet. Now back in Värnamo, where it all once began, Spice has recruited an experienced lineup of musicians to back him up for the release of their upcoming new album, to be issued this winter on Ripple Music. Axis is the debut album from Stoner Rockers Cervus who have steadily been building up their own great sound over the last five years through a couple of well received EP’s. Cervus are fully committed to the Stoner Rock cause here by blending elements of Psych, Desert Rock and Grunge into their core sound. Though, there’s a heavier and aggressive Doom Rock vibe that gives Cervus that modern day flavour.
The album is boosted by a great style of Hard Rock delivery that’s inspired by the likes of Soundgarden, KYUSS, Monster Magnet, QOTSA and Lowrider. The lyrics are quite gritty and never feel overstated with the band employing a great vocal delivery into the mix courtesy of Tom van der Linden who provides lead vocals and backing vocals throughout.
There’s some cool Post-Rock touches being added within the quieter moments as Cervus add some haunting Post-Doom and Post-Stoner sensibility into their music that may owe some debt of gratitude to the likes of King Buffalo and Elephant Tree along the way. Cervus play their way through some intense fast-paced melodies and subtle Grunge soundscapes within the opening tracks of Black Masquerade, Burning Legacy and Giantess. These songs allow Cervus to build a commanding rhythm of huge sounding Stoner Rock/Metal grooves that always move into different heavy musical pastures.
The excellent Keys / Synths that are delivered by Thomas Robinson add a seductive Seventies Rock attitude into the mix whilst keeping the classic Doom/Stoner Rock momentum fully intact. Cervus seem fully committed going through a musical transformation for the majority of the tracks as they play a wide range of different styles which gives Axis a vibrant, grounded and highly adventurous sound that’s quite different to their previous releases.
By the fourth track Pulling From View appears then Cervus are masters of their own creative domain where they’re in complete control playing an emotionally charged style of Post-Doom, Post-Rock and Stoner Rock sounds that sometimes tug at the heartstrings. Some elements start to become quite cinematic and dare I say quite orchestral in places which isn’t surprising with the array of different instruments that appear on this record. It’s one of the best things about Cervus as they keep trying different soundscapes and musical performances for each track that keeps the listener fully engaged throughout.
Other great tracks on the album are Roamer, Harbinger Of Rain, Beneath The Waves, Remember My Name and Golden Arms. Some sections of the album do see a reckless HEAVY METAL attitude forming that feels like it's being performed by two completely different bands before CERVUS return to their original musical ways.
Cervus perhaps fully finds their real strength within the heavier sounds on the album which does bring a more dynamic musical performance and presence from everyone involved here. However, the quieter and most reflective moments are the most engaging which offers a stark contrast to heavy Doomed Out passages that Axis contains from start to finish. This proves that Cervus are in full complete control of what’s being played around them with masterful storytelling being one of the standout themes of the whole record.
Axis is an epic album in every sense of the word with Cervus delivering a record that’s fastly becoming one of my favourite records of the year which still surprises me with a different experience every time I listen to it.

The live recording captures the trio's crushing riffs, psychedelic freakouts, and unpredictable energy that have become staples of their performances since forming in 2021.
The album also marks a first for Mr. Smalls Sanctuary. While other bands have recorded performances at the venue, M.E.L.T. will be the first to officially release a live album from a show there.
The album was engineered and mixed by longtime collaborator Nate Campisi and mastered by Dan Yost, and features artwork by Emily Woddell.
On November 10, M.E.L.T. will release the first single, "Shame," alongside a live music video featuring footage captured during the performance.
5YBOM – Live at the Sanctuary will be available digitally on November 20, with no physical release planned.
ABOUT M.E.L.T.
Since their 2021 debut, M.E.L.T. (formerly MELT) have become a fixture in Pittsburgh's heavy music scene, gaining recognition for their loud, crushing performances and unpredictable crowd interactions, complete with alien dancers and confetti cannons.

Review
Psych/Stoner/Post-Rock outfit Aktopasa return with their third album Glide Reflections which continues the band’s musical journey exploring the calmer side of the Stoner Rock scene though they’ve still got a few tricks up their sleeves when delivering heavy spaced out melodies. The record is quite low-key and never feels rushed with Aktopasa demonstrating a calm musical presence throughout the album. The delicate Post-Rock surroundings gives everything a grounded feel with the hazy sounds of the Desert Rock scene reminding me of Yawning Man and Colour Haze with the excellent synths being quite dramatic when the album calls for this style of music to fully develop. There is a level of Prog Rock delivery being played within the majority of the tracks as the subtle switchover from Post Rock to an aggressive style of Stoner Rock that brilliantly emerges when you least expect this.
Each song tells an individual story with Aktopasa demonstrating a wealth of different styles of storytelling within Glide Reflections. The record may be too quiet for some but this is music for the soul, mind, body and spirit with tracks The Wayfarer, Doom and Ultraeast taking their time building up varied levels of Post-Rock heaviness. One of the main strengths of Glide Reflections is how Aktopasa transforms the grounded Desert/Stoner Rock elements into an aggressive style of Space Rock with some real COSMIC instrumental energy never feeling out of place.
AktAktopasaaposa have a mysterious quality and creative aura within their music which allows everything to be superbly real even when the album does become slightly too trippy and out there, they always manage to pull things back and play to their absolute strengths on tracks such as Doom, Ultraeast and Final Act.
Glide Reflections is an absolutely magnificent record that will warm your heart especially during the cold winter season that’s fastly arriving.
The Crooked Skulls are a heavy rock trio from New Jersey built around thick riffs, heavy grooves, and a straightforward approach to songwriting. Pulling from stoner rock, doom, and the heavier side of rock and roll, the band draws influence from Clutch, Corrosion of Conformity, Down, Crowbar, Black Sabbath, Kyuss, Fu Manchu, Motörhead, and Alice in Chains while continuing to develop a sound of their own.
Formed by guitarist/vocalist Pete Koretzky with bassist/vocalist Dave Van Auken and original drummer Chuck Snyder, The Crooked Skulls released their debut EP, Hivemind, in 2024, followed by their first full-length album, Midnight Sun, in March 2026. The album reached #30 on the Doom Charts and helped the band continue building its presence in the heavy underground.
Since forming, The Crooked Skulls have shared stages with bands including Valley of the Sun, WyndRider, Sun Voyager, Borracho, GUHTS, Clamfight, Thunderchief, and Precious Blood, playing throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Upcoming shows will see the band sharing bills with Crobot, Dark Chapel, and Insomniac as they continue expanding their regional presence.
Koretzky’s connection with Valley of the Sun also extends beyond the stage. He contributed additional guitar to “Where’s This Place?” from the band’s 2024 album Quintessence. The Crooked Skulls also connected with Fu Manchu guitarist Bob Balch, who contributed a guest guitar solo to “Iron Smile.”

With Snyder relocating to Florida, drummer Bryan Heaney has joined Koretzky and Van Auken as The Crooked Skulls move into their next chapter. Heaney quickly settled into the band’s material and brings his own feel to the lineup while keeping the groove and chemistry at the center of the music.

The band is proud to announce a new 7-inch featuring “Ride Free” and “Pain Dealer.” The two songs follow Midnight Sun while showing different sides of where the band is heading. The 7-inch is intended as a bridge into 2027, keeping new music coming while the band continues playing regional shows, festivals, and other special appearances.
"Pain Dealer" features a guitar solo from Bob Balch, and the vinyl insert artwork is illustrated by Matt Pike.

The Crooked Skulls plan to begin working toward their next full-length album in 2027. Until then, the focus is on playing more shows, continuing to write, and taking opportunities as they come.
For The Crooked Skulls, the approach remains simple: write honest heavy music, play it loud, and keep moving forward.

Sweden’s conjurers of fuzz, folklore and far-flung psychedelia venture deeper into their ever-expanding mythology with “Murder // Mountain,” the first single from Season of Slumber, out November 13 via Urskog Records. The track premieres today via Outlaws of the Sun.
Four purveyors of cosmic weirdness, hypnotic riffs and tales from the other side of the ordinary, Goatriders have spent nine years building a world with its own geography, peculiar inhabitants and gloriously crooked vernacular. Across their previous albums, wandering wizards, carrot mages, uncanny creatures and unlikely encounters have emerged from the band’s fevered imagination, taking shape in a heady brew of heavy fuzz, adventurous psychedelia and a knack for making the downright bizarre feel strangely compelling.
Goatriders are, at their essence, psychedelic fabulists. Their songs conjure occult visions, cosmic wanderings and unruly inhabitants, spinning a mythology that gathers new lore with every cloven step. Yet the Goativerse is more than a cast of outlandish characters and arcane adventures. Its magic takes hold through the interplay of four connected musicians who know precisely when to lock into a groove, when to let a riff run feral and when to drive a jam to the brink of dissolution. Beneath the fantastical tales lies a band with the instinct, chemistry and instrumental command to make the impossible feel flesh and blood. The absurdity has teeth; beneath the arcane pageantry, something raw and vital is always stirring and the mythology never gets in the way of a good noise.
The first taste of Season of Slumber comes in the shape of “Murder // Mountain,” a ten-minute-and-forty-one-second descent into psychedelic disorientation. A searing, riff-driven jam forms the track’s molten core, the guitars twisting above a rhythm section whose loose, instinctive interplay is anchored by the drums’ measured, almost metronomic pulse. The bass carves its own melodic path beneath the heavier excursions, while sitar, djembe and bells cut through the distortion with flashes of ancient ceremony. Rather than charging towards a conventional climax, Goatriders let the music find its own crooked route, building and releasing tension as it goes.
Johansson describes the song as “a real bad trip wrapped up in a ten minute envelope.” What could go wrong?
There are distant echoes of The Doors in its shadowy, incantatory atmosphere, while the guitar’s unbridled explorations carry a spark of Jimi Hendrix’s improvisational spirit. But Goatriders are following no one else’s map: “Murder // Mountain” draws the listener into a world where the ground shifts beneath your feet and the destination remains deliciously uncertain.
Ever a constant, Death stalks the trail in “Murder // Mountain,” keeping pace with those who wander it, waiting for the moment they finally surrender to its pull. Many follow the hippie dream like a procession towards the inevitable, mistaking free will for ultimate freedom. But this traveler has no intention of obediently joining the ranks.
He knows death is on his heels, and rather than bowing his head, he calls the bastard out. The mountain caves in on itself, leaving an abyss where heaven should be. Johansson’s words hang in the air, caught between ancient warning and open-ended revelation. That tension runs through the track as it does the entire album; cosmic visions with dirt beneath its nails, occult grandeur with a mischievous grin, and four musicians willing to follow an idea wherever it leads.
As the Swedish quartet returns with its third full-length, Season of Slumber, drawing the Goativerse into deeper shadow. The winding jams, molten fuzz and ritualistic intensity remain, but this time they venture into darker currents, where old certainties begin to buckle and the search for truth leads beyond the limits of
what we think we know.
It is the same wild imagination at work: fearless, freewheeling and forever nosing around the edges of the unknown, where stranger revelations are most certainly waiting. Following 2022’s The Traveler, Season of Slumber sheds the collective of the Carrot Wizards and brings the more solitary figure back into the fore. This tale is focused on the One Wizard.
Long confined to his tower, this ageing hierophant languishes in prophetic stagnation, guarding the accumulated wisdom of a lifetime while the world beyond his walls turns without him. His tower has become both sanctuary and sentence, its shelves heavy with the knowledge of ages, its windows opening onto a world he has all but forgotten how to read. Then the veil begins to lift. Ghosts of yonder stir, old visions take on unfamiliar shapes, and the truths by which he has lived begin to look less like answers than walls of his own making. The wizard stands at the threshold of a revelation his learning could never have prepared him for.
Across the album, witches, warlocks, devils and demons gather beneath the night sky, drawn towards a new temple of the sun, bearing offerings to the totem of noise. Yet amid the ceremony and incantation, a more dangerous possibility takes hold: that wisdom, hoarded and held beyond question, can harden into dogma; that a lifetime spent seeking truth can leave a person devoted to the very beliefs that keep it out of reach. For The One Wizard, no ancient text can furnish the answer, no incantation guarantees safe passage. To go further, he must risk the collapse of the world his knowledge has built around him, and look beyond its ruins allowing the new to take its place.
Goatriders leave these questions suspended in the smoke. The wizard’s passage becomes a meeting point between myth and lived experience, a tale of spiritual disquiet in which the pursuit of enlightenment can be every bit as disorientating as the darkness it promises to dispel.
Mixed and mastered by Joona Hassinen at Studio Underjord, “Murder // Mountain” captures that unruly spirit as old certainties crumble and the possibility of renewal flickers into view. The mountain is falling. The season of slumber is drawing to a close. Eternal vision awaits.
New York’s Sun Voyager blast off with new single ‘Vandromeda’, a pummelling, heavy-psych odyssey driven by massive riffs, hypnotic grooves, and cosmic mayhem.
Released via Tee Pee Records, the track sees the trio push further into the void, unleashing an adventurous, fuzz-drenched cacophony that balances controlled chaos with the band’s trademark heavy grooves. Opening with a colossal riff and the mantra “rise, fall, live, die”, ‘Vandromeda’ hurtles forward into a sprawling sonic assault as its lyrics wrestle with truth, control, and the unknown.
Founded in 2011, Sun Voyager have built a devoted following through touring and an uncompromising approach to heavy psychedelic rock. Combining the weight of early metal with motorik krautrock grooves, garage rock grit, and expansive stoner jams, they have carved out a sound that's unmistakably their own.
Following the release of their acclaimed debut album Seismic Vibes on King Pizza Records and their self-titled sophomore album via Ripple Music, the band have continued to refine their songwriting through marathon rehearsals and extended improvisation, allowing songs to evolve organically before taking shape in the studio. That spirit of exploration runs through ‘Vandromeda’, where crushing riffs, driving rhythms, and hypnotic psychedelia collide in a relentless journey into the unknown.
Heavy, hypnotic, and unhinged, ‘Vandromeda’ captures Sun Voyager at their most adventurous, pushing their sound into stranger, more volatile territory while remaining rooted in the powerful grooves and psychedelic energy that have made them one of New York’s most compelling heavy rock bands.
Behold the stars. ‘Vandromeda’ is the band’s next step into the cosmic unknown.

Majestic Mountain Records is thrilled to announce the release of Swedish post-rockers Citizend’s debut full-length album next month. Blending doom-tinged rock, western soundscapes and gloomy folk, DoomsVille unfolds as a dystopian tale told through music, literature and visual art.
Formed in 2022 by Emil Gustavsson and Otto Nilsson, Citizend describe their distinctive sound as Noirmericana, combining the desolation of doom with the cinematic sweep of the westerns and the melancholy of dark folk. Following their 2024 debut EP, The Spiral, also released on Majestic Mountain Records, the duo expand their musical and narrative universe with a concept album set in a fictional world where grimy industrialism collides with scorched deserts in an uncertain future. Beneath its dystopian surface lies a reflection on society’s faith in technological progress and the promise of machines to solve humanity’s oldest problems.
Extending beyond music, DoomsVille is accompanied by a western-fantasy short story written by Swedish author Fredrik Persson Winter (The Badger), published by Kraxa Förlag in Swedish. Available in print, e-book and audiobook formats, the story is integrated into the album campaign, with each single paired with a corresponding audiobook chapter.
Drawing on influences including Nick Cave, 16 Horsepower, Neurosis, Johnny Cash, Mogwai and Ennio Morricone, the album combines heavy instrumentation and brooding atmospheres with the tension and grandeur of the cinematic western.
Guest musicians include Mika Häkki of Monolord on bass, Dag Rosenqvist of Småland on keyboards and sounds, and Mattias Hagström, known for his work with Sarah Klang, on drums. Hanna Langaard contributes vocals to ‘Lonely Rider’. Artwork is by Emma Häkki, the logo by Cezelia Hjelt Röstberg, and photography by Richard Bloom.
Three tracks offer glimpses into the album’s dystopian world. ‘Eternal Machine’ depicts a desperate population risking their lives for the wisdom of a machine, transforming technological salvation into a grim ritual. Whereas ‘Lonely Rider’ follows a pilgrim through the wasteland, exploring guilt, idealism and the destructive consequences of good intentions. And finally, ‘Leave the Light Out’ captures the haunting unease of a society sensing its imminent collapse.
DoomsVille will be released digitally and on vinyl via Majestic Mountain Records on 13th November 2026, accompanied by Fredrik Persson Winter’s story in print, e-book and audiobook formats and can be pre-ordered here.
