Review

Wasted Theory return with another round of Southern Rock/Metal blended with classic Stoner Rock sounds. Warlords Of The New Electric is an album that’s on far too short in my mind. As the band present you with an album that runs for 36 minutes or so. I would of loved a few more songs just to spend more time with this great band. However Wasted Theory maximize every second with heavy powerful sounds that sees them drawing influences from the NOLA scene, Thin Lizzy and Orange Goblin.

The music is fast-paced and with a good old fashioned Classic/Hard Rock energy with the band switching from modern Stoner Rock/Metal grooves and top-notch Thin Lizzy classic guitar riffage. The album can be very psychedelic at times with opening song – Rawhide Hellride – having a combination of NOLA riffs, Southern Rock and Swampedelic epic guitar jams. Wasted Theory are a very tight unit on Warlords Of The New Electric proves that theory right with the band not wasting a single riff.

Songs such as Drug Buzzard, Bongronaut and The Son of a Son of A Bitch – only embrace the Swampedelic/Southern Rock sounds further but with a great sense of humour as well especially on The Son of Son of A Bitch.

I have to say that I’ve been disappointed by a lot of Southern Rock/Metal albums over the last few years but Wasted Theory have restored my faith in that genre of music. As this album is so damn catchy with highly infectious vocals and lyrics to match.

Another highlight of the album is how Wasted Theory stick to a winning formula and never decide to change directions by fusing different elements of music just for the hell of it. Wasted Theory impress even more on the second half of the album with Bastard County, Heavy Bite and Doomslut Rodeo. As the band carries on the wicked sense of humour spliced throughout the album.

The production is stunning with Wasted Theory putting in an assured and highly confident performance. I don’t think the band have ever sounded this good or even this HEAVY. And that’s saying something for Wasted Theory. As the band always release quality sounding albums.

Warlords Of The New Electric is Wasted Theory’s best album to date and one that will only enhance their well deserved reputation within the Stoner Rock/Metal scene as one of the best bands currently around today.

US Tour News: WASTED THEORY ANNOUNCES U.S. SPRING TOUR DATES DEFENDERS OF THE RIFF TOUR 2017

American Weed Rockers Wasted Theory are about to hit the road and have announced a North American tour for the Spring of 2017, with several heavy rock masters in alliance such as Wo Fat, Freedom Hawk, and ZED for select dates, as well as local support acts. In promotion of their second full length album Defenders Of The Riff (released 10/2016 on No Slip Records), Wasted Theory’s tour kicks off on April 14th in Wilmington, DE at the Oddity Bar.

Playing select dates from April to June, they’ll trek through 14 states, from Texas to Michigan, coming back around to the current final date in the federal capital Washington, DC on June 10th.

In addition, Wasted Theory recently world-premiered via Facebook their first video from the 'Defenders of the Riff' album, for the song "Black Witch Blues". Self-produced and even filmed by the band themselves, it was shot entirely on an iPhone and created for less than 20 bucks. Wasted Theory was born in July 2012, and raised in the Northern Mid-Atlantic salt air states of Delaware and Maryland. Fronted by Larry Jackson, Jr. on vocals and lead guitar, Brendan Burns on drums, bassist Rob Michael, and rhythm guitarist Dave McMahon, this heavy rock outfit conjures inspiration from several of the most hard hitting, dirty blue collar, beefed up rock n’ roll acts of the past 40 years. Review:

Two years after releasing their debut album – Death And Taxes. Self proclaimed “American Weed Rock” riffsters – Wasted Theory return with their new album – Defenders Of The Riff. The album is a major step-up from their celebrated debut album.

The album contains the perfect balance of Doom, Psych, Stoner and good old fashioned Southern Rock thrills and spills. The vocals are superb from the start with the riffs leaving a blaze of glory with modern stoner metal vibes matched against a cool sounding classic 70s style delivery. Wasted Theory seem to be influenced by early-era Orange Goblin but with a more blues based outlook.

Defenders Of The Riff is all killer and no filler. Truth be told, this album feels like a greatest hits package rather than the band's second album. Standout tracks include: Get Loud Of Get Fucked, Atomic Bikiniwax, Belly Fulla Whiskey and Odyssey Of The Electric Warlock. All proving that Wasted Theory have created an exciting and sometimes wholly original sound of their own.

The production and the overall feel of the album sounds immense from the start. Not really surprising if you consider the people who mastered, recorded and engineered the album. I've copied and pasted the following from the guys BandCamp Page.

Though this is Wasted Theory's show and the guys prove why they're so highly thought of within the Doom/Stoner Metal scene. The instrumental work is another highlight with the band working their asses off in creating some mighty fine riffage.

Defenders Of The Riff will no doubt enhance Wasted Theory's reputation further. It's an album already winning it's fair share of praise within the Doom/Stoner Metal community. They've recently won the 1^st spot on November 2016 Doom Charts. Another strong indicator on how good this album really is.

I could write a 5000 word essay explaining how good this album really is. Though the music speaks for itself. You cannot argue with quality and this album oozes quality. If you want an album that does what is says on the tin – RIFFS!!! - Defenders Of The Riff is the album for you. No question.....

Excellent and Highly Recommended.
