Review

10-56 is the new single from Doom/Grunge/Sludge Experimentalists CROP and is another dark and despairing style of music from the band. The song has that classic AMPLIFIER DISTORTED sound with aggressive vocals leading the creative charge. The guitars are mostly of the Sludge variety but CROP bring a certain MELVINS, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden flavour to the track.

The gloomy aspect of the track falls firmly within the Doom Metal underground scene. The song is always lively and has a certain “unexpected” feeling. There’s a slight atmospheric drive from CROP which is a major step in quality from their 2021 debut self-titled album.

Throw in some trippy Psychedelic and Spaced Out sounds then CROP could have something special up their creative sleeves for their next release. The later stages impressed me the most with CROP adopting a more “Post-Doom” or “Post-Stoner” feel. The song offers CROP the chance to try different things with their music even with the vocals that have a more aggressive presence to them.

The production can be subdued at times but CROP excel in other areas such as the mighty fine grooves and extended jams that appear within the six and half minute runtime of the track.

Check this out when you can as 10-56 is sublime track and offers the perfect way for the Underground scene to be introduced to a great band.
