What is the genre of music that you play?
Alternative / progressive metal without guitars: heavy bass riffs, detuned synths, clean vocals.
Can you give a brief history of the band of how it came together and where it is today?
Quine started in Minsk, Belarus, March 2023. It is currently a bedroom project and a two-man effort: Alex on the bass, bringing in the riffs, me (Yuri) building from those riffs in a DAW and topping it off with vocals.
The first thing that you hear on our self-titled EP – the intro section of “Syn” – is in fact the very first thing we ever wrote together. Alex sent me the riff and I put some synths over it along with slow heavy drums. Very simple stuff. But this weird, dark, almost nostalgic sound caught us off guard and got us both hooked. We followed this direction and dug deeper.
The debut EP was self-released July 12th 2024 and, as of this writing, we are in the planning and plotting stages for the next release.
What can people expect from your music?
It’s dark, dystopian, reminiscent of Tool in atmosphere but much simpler in structure and technique. Bass-heavy yet rather clean - we don’t overdo distortion. Lots of detuned synth pads that impart a nostalgic, meditative quality to the sound. Clean disillusioned vocals.

Our best work so far is our only work so far :) The debut EP “Quine”.
