Italian Psychedelic Doom Rockers Cripta Blue Unveil Details of Their "No Return" Album; New Single Out Now

Argonauta Records has set October 31st as the international release date for the album "No Return" by Italian psychedelic doom rockers Cripta Blue. The album will be available digitally worldwide.

"With the single No Return, we’ve only begun to reveal the beating heart of our music. The album is a journey that transcends technique or style, reaching straight for the purest emotions. We opted for a stripped-down production to keep the sound raw and authentic, free from filters or embellishments, capturing the same intensity and spontaneity with which each track was born. Edge of Instinct delves into the lunar allure, that fine line between madness and instinct ignited by the full moon, weaving darkness with flashes of light in a one-of-a-kind nocturnal journey." - says the band

"No Return" album tracklisting and cover art are as follows:

1. No Return
2. Dark Temptation
3. Hermit
4. Desert Deceit
5. Edge of Instinct
6. Hypnotic Haze

Today, the band also released a new single, "Edge of Instinct," which is now streaming on Argonauta Records' official YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/DtClqO6_pnw

Cripta Blue, hailing from the historic city of Ravenna, is a powerhouse trio blending rock with psychedelic influences and proto-doom vibes reminiscent of the late 60s. Their evocative sound has made them a standout in the underground rock scene.

Formed in 2019, Cripta Blue emerged from the shared passion of three musicians. The lineup includes Alessandro Melandri on bass and lead vocals, Federico Bocchini on electric and acoustic guitars, and Silvio Della Valle on drums. Their collective synergy and diverse musical backgrounds have created a unique and evolving sound that bridges various genres.

Cripta Blue’s music is a rich tapestry of rock infused with psychedelic undertones and heavy, doom-laden riffs. Over time, their sound has evolved significantly, culminating in their latest EP which consolidates these diverse influences.

Looking ahead, Cripta Blue is gearing up for an exciting period. Their highly anticipated second album is set for release in the fall of October 2024 via Argonauta Records. In the lead-up to this major release, listeners can expect two singles that will offer a glimpse into the evolving sound and direction of the band.

Exclusive Album Premiere Of Cripta Blue Debut Full Length Album

Italy's up and coming power rock trio, CRIPTA BLUE will be releasing their debut self-titled album on Friday 24th September via Italian Powerhouse Label Argonauta Records.

The band's self- titled, first full length record will be out on September 24, 2021 and available on Vinyl and as Digital formats.

CRIPTA BLUE was formed in 2019 by members of bands like Desert Wizard, Thrash act Rising Dark and Talismanstone. Being no strangers to the heavy music scene, the trio skilfully plays an enthralling and vibrant blend of psych rock, heavy power blues and a remarkable sound of the NWOBHM doom rock era between Blue Cheer, May Blitz and Saint Vitus. CRIPTA BLUES‘ debut is a captivating example of finest proto doom, that has the psychedelic mood you can't help but to dive into, gloomy lyrics and the hint of a cult horror classic.

The baritone vocals of front-man and bassist Andrea Giuliani are shrouded by acid and fuzz rock soundscapes, full of power blues and with the soul of doom, without any doubt CRIPTA BLUE's upcoming, first album could easily make it on several Best-Of lists by the end of this year.

"We started our musical and twilight journey in a cold night of November 2019, and now our dark creature is finally alive and ready to get unleashed!" Says vocalist and bassist, Andrea Giuliani.

He continues: "A new, personal doom and psych sound, that looks back on the past of the dark 70's. No occult lyrics but instead distorted and horrible metaphors of what it means to taste life and to live it sinking deep, surrounded by the living dead...

You can listen to the album in full thanks to the cool folks at Argonauta Records and All Noir PR.

Cripta Blue S/T will be available to buy on DD/Vinyl via Argonauta Records from September 24th 2021.

Review

Cripta Blue is a Doom/Stoner Metal band brought up on the heavy power grooves of Black Sabbath, Saint Vitus and Blue Cheer. Throw in a subtle NWOBHM flavour and Cripta Blue are a different kind of power-trio who revel in the early beginnings of 70s Doom Metal. Their debut self-titled album is full of Psychedelic Soundscapes which brings perhaps a more modern sound. The guitars become down-tuned and more Occult based when Cripta Blue decide the time is right for that heavy sound to control the actions of the entire album.

Cripta Blue is made up of different bands from the Italian Hard Rock and Heavy Metal scene with members coming from Desert Wizard, Rising Dark and Talismanstone. This allows each member to bring their own respective sound to this album. The album has a refreshing seedy attitude and approach to the songs contained on the album. You can experience and hear that attitude on the excellent two opening songs of Mourning Pyre and Magickal Ride.

Both songs contain a gloomy approach with both the music and vocals offering a rough Psychedelic Rock and Blues Rock sound. Though bubbling beneath the heavy grooves is a HEAVY METAL attitude that allows the record to be a more “daring” album that you initially expect. There is a warped 60s/70s Psychedelic vibe to the whole album and that’s perhaps where Cripta Blue draw their biggest and best creative ideas from.

The atmosphere is very much “Streetwise” or “Streetwise DOOM” attitude with an “Outlaws” mentality with Sabbathian and Blue Cheer riffs coming from all directions especially on songs such as: Tombstone, Creepy Eyes, Death Wheelers and A Space Tale.

The final song A Space Tale sees Cripta Blue go full on Space Rock and bring an excellent and well put together instrumental song that reminds me of fellow of Italian Spaced Out Riffsters Black Rainbow and this remains one of the best tracks on the album, if not the best song. This ends the album on an almighty HIGH....

The production on the album is first rate with Cripta Blue being given every opportunity to impress with their own blend of Psychedelic and Trippy based Doom/Stoner Metal. Overall, this feels like an album that could have easily been recorded in the legendary Hard Rock, Heavy Metal and Doom Metal scenes of the 70s whilst offering a modern day perspective as well.

Cripta Blue are being represented by Italian Powerhouse Label - Argonauta Records. Another fantastic label bringing awesome undiscovered talent to the Doom/Stoner Metal masses and Cripta Blue is another great release from Argonauta.

Overall, Cripta Blue debut full length album is a triumph and if you miss the good old days of seedy 70s Doom/Stoner Metal then this album is an essential one to own.
