The band comments:
“Altitude is an album about having a good time with friends, escaping the madness of the city and pulling yourself out of any woesome funk. The songs are confident, to the point, and delivered with intensity. We had a blast recording it and can’t wait to bring it live on stage. Right on!”

Solor Sons Bio
Hailing from Dundee, Scotland, Solar Sons twist traditional heavy metal with modern groove, stoner/doom atmospheres, and progressive rock influences. Brothers Rory Lee (bass & vocals) and Danny Lee (guitar) join forces with Pete Garrow (drums) to deliver thunderous rhythms, scorching riffs, and soaring vocal melodies, crafting music that is both powerful and dynamic.
Since 2016, the trio has self-released five albums, with their latest efforts receiving praise from media outlets such as Doomed and Stoned, Weedian, Outlaws of the Sun, The Obelisk, Ave Noctum, and more. Their reputation as a fierce live band has seen them share stages with Green Lung, Weedpecker, and King Witch, while performing at Bloodstock Festival in 2017 and 2022, and headlining shows in London in 2023 and 2024.
With Altitude, Solar Sons are ready to reach new heights, delivering a record packed with high-octane riffs, infectious energy, and an honest love for rock ’n’ roll.
Vita est Morte est Vita is the band’s debut full-length; recorded, mixed, and mastered by Wayne Adams at Bear Bites Horse Studio, London. Italian Psychedelic Doomsters MEIFU will release their debut album “Haunted Dreams" on July 5th via Argonauta Records.
Band comments on the album: “After five years of career and live experience,
MEIFU are proud to unveil their official debut album “Haunted Dreams”, a work focused on different stories united by the element of transformation and change, both lyrical and musical. Through a massive bass, hermetic guitar parts and a tribal drumming, “Haunted Dreams” explores disturbing atmospheres guided by ritualistic vocal interpretation of Mari, on a thoughtful and immersive path that transcends genres to reach an inner space of self-understanding and meditation”.

Meifu were born in January 2019 combining the artistic personalities of Edoardo (Lord Elephant, Necromorbid, Sickening), Tommy (ex-Vij), Genia (Dragnet, ex-Vij) and Mari (Sorelle Trapasso).
Over the years they have refined a particular style that ranges between drifts of doom, stoner and psychedelia through a suggestive sound experience that oscillates between ethereal moments and others heavier. In 2022 they released independently their first demo, promoted with an enchanting night with Messa in Florence, live shows and a mini-tour around Italy with the band Carrito.
Five years after the previous 'Lo Albicocco Al Curaro (Decameron 666)', Kotiomkin are back with a new album, 'Le Casalingue – The Satanic Rites of Cobram', out on September 29th, 2023 via Subsound Records. A wall of distortions and analog synthesizers in eclectic sauce sonorizes the dark erotic-vampire misadventures of the geometra Calboni, a fictional character, appearing in Italian literature and film, created by Paolo Villaggio (Fantozzi).
The Kotiomkin band was born from a great passion for 60s-70s-80s Italian genre cinema, a series of movies characterized by aesthetically innovative approach, in complete opposition to the mainstream and to more or less politicized intellectual cinema of the time. The duo devote himself to the creation of instrumental soundtracks for non-existent movies, with invented plots featured in the liner notes, having as a reference the classic soundtracks of the time but revisiting them with the violence of the most modern stoner, pushing the boundaries of doom.
We're excited to premiere their new album Le Casalingue – The Satanic Rites of Cobram which you can hear below.
Thanks to Metaversus PR for all of the details.
Le Casalingue – The Satanic Rites of Cobram is available to buy on DD/Vinyl via Subsound Records from September 29th 2023.
Two European bands. One record. 100% improvised music. Kombynat Robotron and DUNDDW join forces to show the world two different visions of psychedelic rock, a music genre in which a wide range of styles have a place; from classic rock to progressive metal, passing through garage, kraut, prog rock, drone and even electronic music.
The truth is that there are times when a band goes into the recording studio with quite elaborate songs and with a perfect idea of what the band members want to do. There are also other times when the band goes into the studio without any idea of what they are going to do... And that must have been te case of Kombynat Robotron and DUNDDW when they decided to go into the studio to try to capture the purest essence of their particular way of understanding modern psych rock.
You can hear the stunning album in full with this cool album premiere
KOMBYNAT ROBOTRON: is a three-piece psych-kraut rock from Kiel (Germany) formed by Jannes Ihnen (guitars, synth, vocals), Claas Ogorek (bass) and Tommy Handschick (drums, percussion). All members were playing at other bands when first started jamming in 2018. Since then, they have put out 12 titles between own records and split albums, always sticking to the premise of improvised music halfway between kraut-rock and psychedelia based on repetitive patterns.
DUNNDW: is also a power trio from The Netherlands formed by Peter Dragt (drums), Huibert der Weduwen (bass), and Gerben Elburg (guitars). Coming from band such as Bismut and Mt. Echo, the three musicians started playing together in order look for the creative purity that you can get thanks to the inspiration of the "here" and "now" - they went into the studio with no previous ideas but playing around psychedelia, so whatever was happening there was instantly recorded. In 2022 they self-released their debut album 'Flux'.
The vinyl record is estructured in a way that each band has one side. The Satellite side (Kombynat Robotron) was recorded at Dickfehler Studio in Germany; then mastered by Hanno Janßen. The Moon side (DUNDDW) was recorded at Studio 888 in The Netherlands; then mastered by Pieter Kloos at The Void Studio.
The album, whose artwork is by Phosphor Visuals, is coming out on 9th June 2023 on a limited edition to 400 copies on two vinyl records variants through the collaboration of European indie labels Spinda Records (SP) and Sunhair Music (GE).
Anti is the third release of the majorquian post-rock band/collective F/E/A (Forces Elèctriques d’Andorra). Recorded live with Toni Salvà at Diorama Sound and mastered by Doug Henderson at Micro Moose Berlin, the record captures as never before the sound of the band, showing them at the peak of their strenths, with that unique blend of mantric primitiveness and evocative epic that made them a well known and repected name in the underground scene, both in the island and abroad.
The groups sound can be described as instrumental rock, hugely influenced by avant-garde sounds; from the post-rock textures of Godspeed You! Black Emperor or Mogwai to the forcefulness of the post-metal of Russian Circles; from the minimalism of Glenn Branca to the abrasive noise-rock of Boris or Sonic Youth; from Swans’ no wave dissonances to the hypnotic rhythms of Spacemen 3 or Popol Vuh, F/E/A’s music has been described as primitive, hypnotic and atmospheric, three adjectives with which they feel comfortable.
The album marks a turning point for the band as well, with the international release in Europe via Sliptrick Records, in the USA with Electric Talon Records and with the support of Error! Music in Spain.
You can listen to the album below with this exclusive Album Premiere thanks to the good folks over at Grand Sounds PR.

Review
Inframundo is the debut album from Doom/Stoner Metallers Muerte Espiral that features members of bands such as Zeal & Ardor, Adelaida and Zatokrev. The band play a fuzzy blend of Doom/Stoner Metal with strands of Punk Rock and warped Psychedelics. The sound of the album has a classic Grunge attitude especially with the sublime vocals coming from Jurel.
Jurel offers a “BANSHEE” based performance for the aggressive parts and a toned down melodic performance for the quieter parts of the album. The production values have DIY ethics and values throughout the whole album and it gives the album a much needed “RAW” sound that allows Muerte Espiral to be a true product of the South American underground scene.
The vocals are in Spanish but you don’t need to understand what’s being said within the songs as you can lose yourself with the sludgy jams of the band which draw influences from a wide array of different bands from the 1990's Grunge and Stoner Metal scenes but also ones from modern day contemporaries as well.
Inframundo means “UNDERWORLD” in English and allows Muerte Espiral to offer a realistic gloomy style of Doom/Stoner Metal with shades of Progressive Metal appearing on tracks such as Las Náuseas and Mantenlo Real. With the freakier and frenzied FUZZY instrumental jams is where the band impresses the most.
There’s a trippy Eastern Instrumental vibe on Tierra De Nadie which drifts into Post-Rock territory but one that has a cool Romantic appeal with how the music it’s delivered. The grooves are distinctively heavy but it’s a very different style of Fuzz/Sludge Rock which the band have a great talent for.
For an album that was originally recorded in Summer 2017, Inframundo feels like it was recorded in today’s modern times. As it’s a popular style of music that Muerte Espiral plays that’s held in high regard within the underground scene.
The later stages of the album sees the band continue their “obsessive” style of FUZZY and DISTORTED jams on great tracks such as Cráneo, El Camino and Faz Roida. I would say these tracks are the best parts of the album with the most interesting creative choice made and heaviest grooves appear.
Inframundo is an album with a soulful and adventurous attitude that allows Muerte Espiral to release an epic sounding album that has first class grooves from start to finish.
Excellent and Highly Recommended.

DAEVAR are here to shake up the stoner/doom-metal scene with a menacing lo-fi sound and a fresh set ideals. Somewhere between Sleep and Paradise Lost this mysterious trio have found a pocket that is completely their own. Like a ghostly transmission through the snowy static, Delirious Rites sees the mysterious hand of DAEVAR reach out to grip the soul of whomever is ripe for the taking.
Fronted by the enigmatic Pardis (bass, vocals) and completed by Caspar (guitars) and Moritz (drums), DAEVAR serve up moody anthems inspired by what really happens in the world, rather than singing about the sweetness of the leaf or spreading eternal gloom. The young trio from Cologne have recorded five atmospheric slow-burners at Hidden Planet Studios with Jan Oberg (Grin/Earth Ship), who oversaw production and helped the band create a deceptively complex sound. Washed in an ocean of crunchy fuzz, Delirious Rites drowns the listener in a raw conflation of gritty textures and exalting melodies.
Album opener «Slowshine» is an astonishingly raw punch to the ears, ripping open the carefully produced atmospheric opening with the crushing sound of bass and guitar merging together in a haze of lo-finesse. «Leviathan» gives further insight in the intricacy of the DAEVAR sound, opening with a lone crusty guitar glued together by feedback to elementary tribal drumming of Moritz. Then, like flesh enfolding the talons of an eagle, like a hand clenching the hilt of sharpened sword, the fuzzy bass grips around the raw and gritty guitar, reinforcing it and rendering it powerful.
Driven by this punchy guitar and bass-combination, DAEVAR plough through five moody stoner-doom anthems dissecting consequential themes like enforced disappearance, sleep paralysis and female empowerment. The depth of Delirious Rites is ready to unfold itself with songs inspired by the work of political philosopher Thomas Hobbes and quotations from Iranian psychedelic rock anthems from the 70s.
"Delirious Rites“ will be available on CD and Digital formats on January 27, 2023, with a Vinyl release to follow soon.
Cløudy Skies, Dreamgaze Atmospheric Post-metal, Est. 2019 Paris France, is a duo led by Lionel & Nicolas who both belonged to Ambryo (metal/hardcore 2000-2009) and Eyes Front North (Blackened Postmetal 2009-2019).
The main idea for this new project was to literally "change" direction by crafting an odd and beautiful landscape nourished by not only "Metal" but also many other music genres Lionel and Nicolas love such as indie rock, ambient, post rock, alternative...
As songs are the reflection of the composer's soul, it was important for them to impregnate their emotions into their music. It could sound like a cliché but sensitivity is part of Cløudy Skies and the last 2 years they have been through with Covid-19 and lockdown have helped a lot to write in that direction.
Lionel and Nicolas composed and recorded everything except drums.
For that task they hired the talented Conny Pettersson (ANATA, ETERNAL LIES,TROJAN DOGS...) to perform subtle, ethereal, groovy and brutal drum parts. The band focused on sound quality and took particular care in fine-tuning track mixing.
As for the mastering, it has been processed by the great Magnus Lindberg responsible for many great albums (CULT OF LUNA, GHOST, SWITCHBLADE, PG.LOST...). This results in a clear, spacious and massive audio experience.

Italian Psych/Prog/Stoner Rockers Aktopasa release their stunning new album Journey To The Pink Planet this Friday and here's the exclusive premiere below.
STRAMONIUM’s sound ranges from classic rock to 70's psychedelia, modern stoner to old school doom and results from mixing all these references with heavy blues-styled jam sessions. Black Sabbath, Pentagram, Iron Maiden but also Jimi Hendrix, MC5, Motorhead, these are just some of the main references throughout the work.
Their colossal and dark sound recalls themes and atmospheres dealing with occultism, esoteric doctrines, symbolism and specifically the cult of the Moon. Floating between melodic vocal lines, acid reverbs and hypnotic slow riffs; fast fuzzed solos and heavy-muff rhythmic lines, the Italian four-piece takes its listener on an introspective trip through a decadent and obscure landscape, made of pagan worship and a genuine passion for the 70’s heavy-rock scene.

nin-an-ak is the second installment of postcards from new zealand's betwixt and between trilogy. Deviating from the extreme metal focus of burn, witch, burn, this release sees the anonymous project venture further into genre-crossing territory.
The band comments:
"nin-an-ak is an album about the sumerian goddess inana and the second album in the betwixt and between trilogy. it’s the first record we ever made with a string quartet, an instrumental suite in five parts borrowing sounds from progressive rock to folk through death metal, drone and classical music."
nik-an-ak conveys dark moods through a dramatically different melting pot of tones and textures. "e-ana" instigates the thrilling experience by establishing the soundscape that runs through the entire release. An eerie, dissonant backdrop manifests through which multiple layers of instrumentation dance and soar above.
The razor like effects applied to the sarangi lead of this opening track insight an uneasy mood. It soon metamorphoses with the addition of orchestral strings and guitars creating further depth to the track. "inana" builds on the scene setting of "e-ana". A more minimalistic start soon sees the track develop through musical textures and enters heavier realms with the introduction of distorted guitars. nik-an-ak concludes with "nin-ana". The immersive and emotive string quartet elevates the cinematic quality of the music.
postcards from new zealand manipulate the dynamics of their compositions, creating fascinating and disturbing elements. nik-an-ak reveals yet more inventive and experimental sounds as they descend deeper into the shadowy side of humanity.
About the betwixt and between collection:
The title is taken from the 1967 essay by Victor Turner in which he explores the concept of liminality, based on the work of Arnold van Gennep and his 1909 book Rites de Passage. The idea was to create three albums that would express our deep contempt towards patriarchy and sexual discrimination in three different ways – not to place blame and increase divisions, but to explore the idea of coming together to support each other.
The band add further comments:
"nin-an-ak is an instrumental suite that had us collaborating for the first time ever with a string quartet; it’s some weird theatrical progressive-drone-metal beast that follows a concept based on the ancient sumerian deity inana, goddess of war and kinky sexy games.”

The melancholy and weight of the band Los Suffers, formed in 2019 in the Brazilian
city of SãoJosé dos Campos/SP, reflect the accumulation of dark feelings kept inside
of those who struggle daily for their survival in an unjust and cruel world.
Their musical proposal becomes unique to each composition due to the vast number
of influences that inspire the band, and that number grows every day. Some musical
inspirations initials that founded the band were Monolord, Electric Wizard, Sleep,
Saint Vitus and Windhand, but during the evolution of the sound the direct references were slowly lost and headed for something more specific.
The trio from São Paulo is formed by Luiz Dias on vocals and guitar, Jean Carreira on
bass and Brendan Kitchen on drums, and together they established their identity in
the underworld of music with two singles and a split in 2021 during the pandemic, as well as performed the recordings of the band's first album named “Quando A Chama Se Apaga”.
In 2022 the band releases its first album and takes its mix of Stoner, Doom and Sludge to the stages for the first time. The album “Quando A Chama Se Apaga” arrives on digital platforms in March counting with 5 very heavy songs and the fuzz turned on at most. The trio, like in previous works, takes a stand against fascism again, vociferating hatred against the fascists, the bigots and the hypocrites in the midst of a lot of smoke. The new release of Los Suffers also records deeper and more introverted feelings, delving deeper into sadness and depression, exploring the acceptance of death and the lack of hope, Because Evil does not exist and Goodness Is a lie.
Wyoming Young And Strong is a Josh duo in Seattle, Washington, laying down some sludgy tracks. While not from Wyoming, they write music that speaks to the frustration of being young, strong, and inspired in rural America.
With dual vocals highlighting the heavy guitar and drums, WY&S released the four-song 'Death and Ruin' EP in 2018. They have since been playing shows gathering support around the Pacific Northwest through their energetic live performances. Their debut full-length 'Black Wire' is due out later this month.
The 'Black Wire' album is an independent effort set for release by the band on Friday, November 27, 2021. With the album design layout by Brian Kim and art photos by Juha Penttinen, 'Black Wire' was recorded byWyoming Young and Strong at Sodo Magnetic in Seattle, Washington, in the Spring of 2021. Mastering was completed by Black Belt Mastering.

Italy's up and coming power rock trio, CRIPTA BLUE will be releasing their debut self-titled album on Friday 24th September via Italian Powerhouse Label Argonauta Records.
The band's self- titled, first full length record will be out on September 24, 2021 and available on Vinyl and as Digital formats.
CRIPTA BLUE was formed in 2019 by members of bands like Desert Wizard, Thrash act Rising Dark and Talismanstone. Being no strangers to the heavy music scene, the trio skilfully plays an enthralling and vibrant blend of psych rock, heavy power blues and a remarkable sound of the NWOBHM doom rock era between Blue Cheer, May Blitz and Saint Vitus. CRIPTA BLUES‘ debut is a captivating example of finest proto doom, that has the psychedelic mood you can't help but to dive into, gloomy lyrics and the hint of a cult horror classic.
The baritone vocals of front-man and bassist Andrea Giuliani are shrouded by acid and fuzz rock soundscapes, full of power blues and with the soul of doom, without any doubt CRIPTA BLUE's upcoming, first album could easily make it on several Best-Of lists by the end of this year.
"We started our musical and twilight journey in a cold night of November 2019, and now our dark creature is finally alive and ready to get unleashed!" Says vocalist and bassist, Andrea Giuliani.
He continues: "A new, personal doom and psych sound, that looks back on the past of the dark 70's. No occult lyrics but instead distorted and horrible metaphors of what it means to taste life and to live it sinking deep, surrounded by the living dead..."

Review
Doomsday Deferred is the 2nd album from Tommy Stewart’s Dyerwulf project and is quite different to the last project that I reviewed for Negative Wall. Dyerwulf is more Atmospheric Doom Metal spliced with modern day Stoner Metal with flashes of Psych Rock and Fuzz Rock. The album is quite gloomy with a heavy amount of FUZZ leading the way. The album does have a fair amount of Amplifier Worship which is to be expected for a two piece band I believe though Dyerwulf do have special guest appearances along the way.
There is a deep love for 70s Doom Metal, Hard Rock and Heavy Metal with Black Sabbath, Trouble and Saint Vitus being the most obvious starting points especially on the excellent earliest tracks such as Shadow In The Well and Two Trog Yomp laying down the groundwork for Dyerwulf to get their “DOOM CLAWS” into whoever listens to this album.
The vocal arrangements on the album are good and show a different side to Tommy and I can even hear shades of Ozzy and King Buzzo in equal measure throughout the album. The music is always on the right side of Doom/Stoner Metal HEAVINESS with an aggressive sound and attitude to match.
Bass Players throughout the Doom/Stoner Metal land will ultimately love this album the most. As this is a Drum and Bass Two Piece combo that utilizes everything great about the Bass Guitar. The riffs are LOUD, FREAKY and PLENTIFUL.
Doomsday Deferred is perhaps the most entertaining album I’ve heard from Tommy Stewart’s weird and wonderful musical mind. As I dig the Black Sabbath vibes and The Melvins sludgy weirdo rock/metal that is held on this album but Dyerwulf still brings their own flavour and identity to the party.
Check this great album out yourself with this cool exclusive album premiere.
Tommy says this about the album:
“The creation of this album took place during a dark time for me, the same dark and precarious year or so many of us had to endure in the 2020 times. Writing and recording this album has its freewheeling moments but was also a catharsis of the dim, gloomy, and sometimes angry era. These sessions helped me break through the loneliness of isolation that I’m sure many of you could find relatable. ‘Doomsday Deferred’ shares my personal journey from dark to light with you.”
