French Stoner Rockers GREYBORN Release New Live Video Performing Cover Of Red Fang Track WIRES

French Stoner Rockers Greyborn release a new live video for Red Fang track Wires. The band who released their superb new EP Leeches in April 2022 do their own stunning rendition of the classic Red Fang track which you can view below:

Here's what the band said about the cover:

"We discovered Red Fang about 10 years ago with the "Murder The Mountains" album. For Theo (vocals/drums), it was a gateway to stoner music, and today we can say that Red Fang is one of our main influences. The "Wires" video obviously impressed us, but less than the song in itself, which has a form of balance that we also try to reach. You can feel the angst and heaviness, clean and punchy vocals with a sharp playing from all four musicians... Each time we listen to "Wires", we are caught by the dramatic and epic bridge, then crushed by the riff that follows. That's the kind of feeling we try to give our audience."

Greyborn Members

Théo Jude - Drums & vocals
Guillaume Barrou - Bass & backing vocals
Maxime Conan - Guitar & backing vocals

Review:

Greetings all,
Red Fang has unleashed their fourth full length, Only Ghosts, and it is a dark, blazing, riff laden romp that is catchy as hell from beginning to end. This album rips. Only Ghosts is the bands third album for Relapse (who, by the way, have been having a killer year). As noted, the record is dark, not black metal dark, but death, hauntings and spirits permeate almost every track on the record.
Red Fang is in top form, and at the top of the heap in the somewhat hard to label, metal/rock genre. Right there with the likes of Torche and Baroness. On Only Ghosts, Red Fang remind me a lot of Weezer. If Weezer, were a bunch of bad asses that drank alot. With the big riffs, there are a lot of other influences, I may hear a bit of Weezer based on the almost 90's alternative rock vibe that makes its way onto the album. As noted, this album is catchy as hell, I found myself humming different parts for days after a ton of repeated listens.
The album kicks you in the teeth right from the get go. The opening track Flies will be stuck in your craw for some time. It then goes in to the next track, Cut It Short, which explodes with quite a riffy hook that may replace the first song as your newest ear worm. Flames is a brief little instrumental interlude that leads you in to No Air, a pounding bass intro that leads into a heavy stomp that is trademark Red Fang. Shadows and Not For You both show a bit of the 90's alternative rock influence that keeps these songs in your head. The Smell of Sound is a slow burner that crushes you, then steers you headfirst into The Deep, another rager that pounds you into submission. I Am A Ghost is the quintessential Red Fang track. Catchy, heavy, dark, but with the most singy-songy of choruses. Living in Lye is the final track that blazes your ears and snatches your soul
You can't help but give your head and your soul to Red Fang. There is not a bad track on this album. If you already know and love Red Fang, you will grab this and love every minute of it. If you are new to the Fang, this is the absolute jumping on point. I expect to see Only Ghosts on many a top ten list at the end of the year. Check this out, you will love it, and if you don't, there is something clearly wrong with you.
Words by Todd Stealey

Red Fang - New Album Details and European Tour Dates

After three years of vigorously touring the world, Portland, Oregon-based heavy rock giants RED FANG re-emerge with their latest full-length album, Only Ghosts, due for release via Relapse Records this October 14th.

Featured as one of Rolling Stone’s most anticipated album releases for 2016, Only Ghosts was produced by the legendary Ross Robinson (At The Drive In, The Cure, Slipknot and many more) and mixed by Joe Baressi (Queens of the Stone Age, Kyuss, Melvins). Packing in 10 new tracks of the band's signature, high-impact, two-pronged vocal attack and knack for finding the sharpest hooks, RED FANG prove once again they have mastered the heavy anthem, without taking themselves too seriously.

The debut single from the album, ‘Flies,’ can be heard now

Only Ghosts was recorded earlier this year at Robinson’s Venice, California studio. In a recent Revolver Magazine interview, bass player and vocalist Aaron Beam joked that the experience of working beachside was “pretty miserable,” later adding that working with Ross encouraged the band to take a different approach to recording. “He really digs into the meaning behind the songs so that when you’re recording, you’re doing it with conviction and purpose. It’s less about the little technical things. He’s more concerned with getting a performance and focusing on what you’re trying to give the world by making this music in the first place.” Guitarist and vocalist Bryan Giles also added,

Working with Ross and Joe [Baressi] on this record was a huge leap forward for us.  The process was very challenging and rewarding, and I think we're a better band for it. This album expresses exactly where we're at.  We're super proud of it and can't wait for people to hear it!”

Only Ghosts is set for release this October 14 on CD/LP/Digital via Relapse Records. Physical pre-orders are available via Relapse.com here, and digital pre-orders can be found at the band's Bandcamp page atthis location.
