Review

White Tundra return with another healthy dose of Doomed Out melodies that fuses Nordic atmospherics with that classic Nineties sounding Stoner Metal attitude that has an aggressive modern Sludge Rock/Metal attitude appearing within the heaviest moments on the album. Stories From The Dark has a more darker, destructive and melodic energy compared to their 2023 self-titled album which showed how the band were influenced by the legendary bands of the scene whilst forging exciting creative sounds of their very own.

That creative journey is laid down right here but with heavier FUZZED out passages as White Tundra add a thrilling storytelling aspect into their music which comes across spectacularly well on tracks such as Healer, Huset and Riderless Horse. The music has a certain sound inspired by the likes of DOZER, RED FANG and TRUCKFIGHTERS but White Tundra build upon that style of music by adding a down-tuned Fuzz Rock energy with certain Sludge Rock movements that transform into areas of slightly distorted instrumental environments. 

The clean vocals are quite aggressive for the most part and delivered with a gritty attitude which is quite commonplace for modern day Sludge/Stoner Metal albums with White Tundra employing great dual vocals that’s provided by Steven Kresin and Kjell Andres Nilsen throughout the album. White Tundra shows great signs of creativity with Ambient sound effects that adds a level of subtle Droned Out attitude to the record which allows that subtle Post-Stoner, Post-Doom and Psych Metal attitude to elevate the album to a more global audience at times.

White Tundra throws in some Post-Metal and Prog Metal melodies on certain sections of the record where you can hear a grizzled MASTODON multi-layered effect being added on the later stages of the record. It’s within these parts of the album where White Tundra are really firing on all cylinders and creating the most outstanding parts of the album on tracks such as Riderless Horse, The Lake and White Tundra. The record allows White Tundra to create some wicked sounding Fuzz Rock and Amplifier Distortion along the way which adds a level of SONIC MANIPULATION being played mostly in the background.

Stories From The Dark allows listeners to see the next musical evolution that White Tundra have taken with their career for the better which should hopefully allow them to play their music to the biggest audiences possible. If you want a record full of great sounds, grooves and massive STADIUM SIZED riffs from start to finish then check this great album out when you can.

Psych Stoner Rockers WHITE TUNDRA reveal full details of their new album “Stories from the Dark” and release new single and video “Kultarberget”

Norwegian heavy rock voyagers White Tundra announce the release of the new single and videoclip for the song "Kultarberget". The track anticipates the band’s upcoming album “Stories from the Dark”, out on April 24th 2026 in deluxe vinyl and digital formats via Octopus Rising / Argonauta Records.

“Kultarberget” represents a powerful new chapter in the sonic journey of White Tundra, blending hypnotic riffs, massive grooves and evocative atmospheres rooted in Scandinavian mystique. The song expands the band’s signature sound, balancing dusty desert rock influences with darker doom laden tones and a strong sense of narrative tension.

“Stories from the Dark” marks the second full length release by White Tundra and follows their acclaimed self titled debut from 2023. The album was written and recorded between 2024 and 2025 and captures a period of transformation and consolidation for the band.

White Tundra comment on the album:

“We started working on this album early 2024 when Kjell Andres joined on lead guitars. He had been piling up ideas for a while and came into the band with fresh blood and energy. After a while, Øyvind joined on bass and we really started to focus on writing in the summer of 2024.

Rhys Marsh at Automnsongs Recording Studio, where we recorded our first album, contacted us around this time and we decided to continue the work with him as a producer for the next album.

Many songs were in the loop for this album, but we settled on these final six tracks as the ones who fit best together. The winter and spring were used for demoing and pre productions, and Ola hit the studio first, recording the drums in mid July. Bass, guitar and vocals were recorded during two consecutive weeks in August.

The music has partly been written after the lyrics, often starting with creating the chorus and main mood of the songs and building on the songs from there. Other songs were partly finished musically before the lyrics fell into place.

Ola has written all the lyrics for this album, with the help from singer Steven to adapt them to the music. Thematically it takes off where the previous album ended, with lyrics about escaping from society, the unknown around us and a bit of local folklore. The album ending track White Tundra tries to explain the whole soul and story of the band, describing the journey from the inspirational desert rock, ending in the white, stormy Tundra.”

“Stories from the Dark” was produced and mixed by Rhys Marsh at Automnssongs Recording Studio and mastered by Joona Hassinen at Studio Underjord.

WHITE TUNDRA Announce Their New Single “Healer”. They Will Perform at DesertFest Oslo in May

Argonauta Records is thrilled to present “Healer”, the brand new single from Norwegian heavy voyagers White Tundra and the first preview of their upcoming album “Stories from the Dark”, set for release in spring 2026.

White Tundra emerge from the northern marshes with a sound that combines heavy atmospheric melodies, powerful grooves and a deep sense of Scandinavian mystique. Their music drifts across dusty tundras and into shadowed woodlands, balancing the raw energy of 70s hard rock with the grit of the 90s stoner scene and the darker moods of doom and blackened rock. The band has often been compared to Red Fang, Witchcraft and Skraeckoedlan, yet their identity remains unmistakably their own.

Following their acclaimed self titled debut album in 2023 which secured a place on the Doom Charts and introduced their unique blend of riffs and folklore-inspired heaviness, White Tundra spent 2024 rebuilding and strengthening their creative core. With the arrival of lead guitarist Kjell Andres Nilsen early in the year and bassist Øyvind Persvik shortly after, the band began shaping what would become “Stories from the Dark”. Recording took place in the summer of 2025 at AutumnSongs Recording Studio with Rhys Marsh producing.

“Healer” serves as the opening track of “Stories from the Dark” and marks a renewed chapter for the band.

Mystic Norwegian Rockers WHITE TUNDRA join forces with Octopus Rising / Argonauta Records

We are proud to welcome WHITE TUNDRA to the Octopus Rising / Argonauta Records family. These visionary heavy voyagers channel the raw power of nature into their music, blending crushing riffs, groovy rhythms and a deep atmospheric sensibility.

Emerging from the northern marshes, WHITE TUNDRA creates sonic journeys that drift across icy tundras and into shadowy forests. Their sound is a thrilling mix of 70s heavy rock and 90s stoner vibes, enriched by elements of doom, black metal and Nordic folklore. After making waves with their self-titled debut album in 2023, which earned a place on the Doom Charts and widespread praise throughout the underground scene, WHITE TUNDRA are now back in the studio. Review

White Tundra's self-titled debut album is one built on many levels of Psychedelic areas of Doom, Stoner Metal and Fuzz Rock with an air of cosmic heavy rock which fans of Orange Goblin, Clutch, Monster Magnet and Truckfighters will truly appreciate. The record even conveys a killer sideline in classic Heavy Metal riff wizardry with a solid foundation of Blues Rock that is perfectly captured within the stunning opening track of “Erwachen…”. 

The opening track is light on vocals with White Tundra relying on simple “WOAH” chants at different stages. Simple but brilliantly effective which allows the instrumental sounds to have a more effective and aggressive feel.

Second track ...Of The Earth is perhaps where White Tundra make their real entrance to the Doom/Stoner Metal World with a song that is bursting with catchy Fuzz Rock attitude that transforms into a style of Apocalyptic Doom Metal. White Tundra feels more focused on delivering a more gloomier creative narrative to the album with swirling Psychedelics that feel inspired by early-era Monster Magnet. Though, it’s the killer vocals of Steven Kresin that brings an air of destructive energy to the album. With the addition bonus of flashy epic guitar solos then White Tundra lay down one of the standout tracks on the album.

Third track Find You is a straight up Stoner Metal banger with White Tundra adding layers of cosmic attitude with the classic Fuzz Rock sound allowing the band to explore other areas of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. The song is more effective when Steven’s vocals become more grizzled and aggressive during different stages of the track. Once again White Tundra play many exciting moments of extended instrumental grooves that float between Psych Rock and Prog Rock for a song that excels on many levels especially in the LOUD & HEAVY department.

Fourth song Addicted follows the similar sounds of Find You but delivered with a less-is-more Punk Rock approach. The vocals are grizzled and maybe suited to the Heavy Metal arena but White Tundra once again deliver the Fuzz/Stoner Rock goods with a song that has a melodic tone despite the aggressive sludgy manic energy occasionally moving into.

Fifth song Space Wars is where White Tundra perhaps venture into the heaviest COSMIC sounding track on the whole album. Waves of Psychedelic sounds merge into Sludge Rock with the band taking their time to bring the heavy progressive themes to the record that have a slight Mastodon vibe to them. This is another standout track on the record with White Tundra delivering a song with real “world building” quality behind the first-rate lyrics the band have written for this track.

The final three songs of the album Third Floor, Fra Askeskog and Byting sees White Tundra take more creative risks with their music especially with Byting by singing in their own language. This creative choice adds a more nuanced feeling to the album with the instrumental sounds being fuzzy as hell with a menacing aggressive feeling leaving the album to finish on an exciting and dramatic conclusion.

White Tundra’s debut album is a captivating and riff-fuelled adventure with punishing grooves throughout that will satisfy even the most jaded and disillusioned Heavy Rock fan out there.

White Tundra - Honningfella (7 Inch Single Review)

Review

White Tundra are a Norwegian Stoner Rock Band influenced by the likes of Uncle Acid, Orange Goblin, Clutch and Monster Magnet. Well that’s what the PR Sheet stated that came along with the promo that I received for the 7inch single for Honningfella. There is a word of truth to that statement after listening to both Honningfella and One More Place. There is a grizzled psychedelic and knowing streetwise attitude to White Tundra that throws me back to the good old early days of Monster Magnet.

Honningfella is 5 mins plus of Heavy Stoner Metal guitars with a slight Psych Rock twinge. The music is quite intense and angry from the start. The sleazy 70s Hard Rock vibe is fully evident when the guitar solos come out to play. Throw in 90s Stoner Metal (Orange Goblin) attitude and White Tundra offer a real blast of top-notch Stoner Rock/Metal nostalgia whilst remaining firmly modern at the same time. The song has cool heavy Psychedelic Fuzz Rock guitar solos that ultimately steals the show for myself as it also sees the band drift into Progressive Stoner Metal territory.

One More Place offers a similar vibe to Honningfella but feels more focused and the band offer a more reserved style of Classic Hard Rock and Blues Rock with the Stoner Metal guitars keeping things firmly buoyant and highly enjoyable. The vocals are top-notch and I like the grizzled and pissed-off nature used for this song. 

Honningfella is a superb 2nd release from White Tundra and I enjoyed it even more than their debut EP from last year. The band are helped on this release by a Desert/Stoner Rock legend. Recorded in Trondheim, mixed and mastered by Niklas Källgren of Truckfighters and Enigma Experience fame. So if that doesn’t give you the impulse to check this great band out then nothing will.

I hope there is more to come from White Tundra in the future. Another EP or full length album. Until then, Honningfella is an excellent releases from the band and hopefully allows the band to gain more exposure within the Stoner Rock community.
