Review
Heavy Psych/Stoner Rockers Juke Cove 2nd album Remedy is perhaps just that. The remedy you need to cure your Psychedelic Stoner/Doom Rock cravings. This is a gloriously hip and refreshing album with Juke Cove offering a different take on the Psych Stoner Rock sound with the band adding plenty of Doom Metal and Desert Rock spice into the mix.
The album contains 6 tracks running past the 36 minute mark and Juke Cove branches out into different elements of Psychedelic Rock with the vocals being slightly different as well. The record is consistently heavy and you feel that from the excellent opening song - Arise - with the band bringing a more darker style of Desert Rock which is set against a Post-Doom Metal landscape. The guitars are subtle and pay homage to the legendary Desert/Stoner Rock sound with Juke Cove managing to inject a more menacing atmosphere.
Second song - Swirl - starts slowly and quietly and then Juke Cove become more adventurous with their musical creative choices here with the Post-Rock grooves moving once again into heavier territories. The song becomes one of aggressive Stoner Rock/Metal sounds with the album slowly bringing in the sounds of 90s Alternative Rock/Metal and becoming a more interesting prospect because of this.
Remedy allows Juke Cove to carry on with their slightly twisted take on the Psych Stoner Rock sound with excellent musicianship from start to finish and songs such as: Remedy, Adrift and Ignite being the standout parts of the song. As the band brings a more Progressive Rock stance into the mix and makes you wonder what musical direction the album will go into next.
This is a fantastic album helped along by excellent production values and this is the type of album that will hopefully find a suitable audience within the Doom/Stoner Metal community.
Excellent and Highly Recommended.
