The Medicine Dolls Release New Video For Their Cover of Talking Heads Classic - PSYCHO KILLER

Psycho Killer is the latest single taken from The Medicine Dolls acclaimed 2020 debut album Filth & Wisdom, which has gained widespread attention and earned the band a nomination for Best Alternative Album at this year’s SAMA’s (South African Music Awards). The single is a biting, post-punk take on the Talking Heads 1977 classic.

"We'd been fiddling about with the idea of covering this tune for a while, at the same time, we kinda thought of it as one of the "Un-coverable” masterpieces. I suppose during all that "Covidy Apocalyptic Energy" we changed our minds, did a home recording of it and threw it on the record. Glad we did that. Really proud of the rendition we've put out." – Greg Alan, vocals/guitars.

The Medicine Dolls are a band that the world really needs right now, revelling in a glorious time in music history where political correctness and moral judgment did not exist. With untamed fury and a glammed-out fervour for excess, they are the ultimate in sonic chaos, wrapped tightly in streaked eyeliner and delicious danger.

They take their primary influence from the sound of the gritty underground 70's (think The Velvet Underground meets The New York Dolls in the celebrated CBGB’s bathroom), with lashings of 80's indie music, post-punk, and a crucial injection of filthy surf rock to emerge as a chemical and exuberant fusion of The Cramps, The Doors, and The 5.6.7.8’s, with more than a healthy nod to The Birthday Party in all their infamous glory. In the five years that they have been visiting the planet, the trio have released five EP's on their own steam and barely survived several extensive national tours, as well as featuring on numerous underground compilations and global publications.

Filth and Wisdom is out now on CD and limited-edition cassette here and all digital platforms here
