Pittsburgh’s heavy underground gathering returns for its seventh year with a crushing lineup and community spirit

PITTSBURGH, PA — The underground rises once again. Descendants of Crom VII returns to Thunderbird Café & Music Hall on September 26–27, 2025, bringing two nights of genre-defying heavy music, collaborative creativity, and the raw energy of Pittsburgh’s thriving DIY spirit. Now in its seventh year, DOC continues to grow in scope and reputation, while staying fiercely committed to underground authenticity.

Presented by Blackseed Services in collaboration with Thunderbird Café, this year’s festival features an unmissable lineup, including sludge juggernauts BLACK TUSK, the epic intensity of VALKYRIE, doom torchbearers CRYPT SERMON, and Cleveland hardcore legends RINGWORM. Supporting acts span a range of sonic extremes: FISTULA, CHERUBS, SATHANAS, WEED DEMON, REBREATHER, EDHOCHULI, OLATHIA, FUNERALS (formerly Horehound), BROWN ANGEL, RIPARIAN, FOG GIANT, and PASSING BELL.

DOC isn’t just a lineup—it’s an experience. From custom-brewed beer and small-batch hot sauce collabs to themed vendor offerings and exclusive merch, the weekend celebrates the underground in all its forms. Blackseed Services has spent over a decade cultivating Pittsburgh’s heavy music culture by consistently showcasing unique artists—many of whom fans wouldn’t otherwise get to see locally—while lifting up the city’s own talent.

With a focus on genre inclusiveness, artist integrity, and authentic community building, DOC is where longtime followers of the riff meet new initiates. Fans come for a favorite band and leave with a deeper connection to a movement—and often, a few new obsessions.

Europe's long-running stoner and doom festival Heavy Psych Sounds Fest London reveals the first batch of bands to hit the stage at Hackney Bridge this October 31st and November 1st. Tickets on sale now!

Get ready for a night of earth-shaking riffs, fuzzed-out grooves, and mind-bending psychedelia as Heavy Psych Sounds Fest returns to London this fall at Hackney Bridge! This stacked lineup brings together some of the heaviest and most hypnotic acts from the stoner, doom, and psych realms.

Witness the desert rock royalty of Brant Bjork Trio, the crushing low-end sorcery of Belzebong, and the devilish grooves of Mephistofeles. Italian psych explorers Giöbia will transport you to another dimension, while Komatsu will deliver seismic sludge with Dutch precision. Ananda Mida bring hypnotic heaviness and Fvzz Popvli ignite the stage with their fuzz-drenched fury. Desertfest London have released stage splits and announced a final round of artists, completing its diverse line up for the festival's 2025 edition.

As Desertfest continues to celebrate all killer no filler independent heavy music, the festival has completed its 2025 line up with some formidable final additions that honour the current landscape of this subterranean scene.

Melbourne, Aus based distortion artist Divide & Dissolve will bring their ceiling-shaking soundscapes to Sunday’s Electric Ballroom, while Danish deathdoom quintet Konvent will open up affairs at Saturday’s Roundhouse.

Friday at The Underworld will see genre expansive Italian duo OvO bring their sinister sounds to London, before blackened sludge heroes Hexis celebrate their 15th anniversary alongside co-headliners, Norwegian noise-rock outlanders Årabrot.

Brighton doom beasts Sea Bastard make their long-overdue return to the Desertfest stage after 10 years. Elsewhere, The Black Heart will be buzzing with punk rock rebellion courtesy of Brazilian duo Yur Mum, while Canterbury doom devotees Famyne will close it out with their crushing riffs.

A two-day riff-fest of gargantuan proportions to commence the 17-18 of June at Blitz Oslo plus a killer pre-party gig to kick off the entire weekend on Thursday the 16th at the coolest basement venue in town, Revolver.
