Review:

I first came across Horehound during my time on the Doom Charts as they're rated quite highly by my fellow colleagues in the Doom/Stoner Metal community I should have taken more notice of the band as their debut album is a terrific blend of Stoner, Doom and pure Heavy Metal riffs.

The album should appeal to the vast majority of fans within the Doom/Stoner Metal world as Horehound have written addictive riffs and the killer vocals from Shy give the band a more modern sound. Songs such as World To Come, Sangreal, The Dead Don't Lie and Waking Time are perhaps where the band show their true talent for great lyrics, haunting melodies and superb riffs.

I had a slight worrying feeling that Horehound would fall under the recent female led Occult Rock style of music. I'm kind of bored with that style of music as it's starting to sound the same. Thank the Doom Metal Gods that Horehound are more in the mould of Black Sabbath and Saint Vitus whilst still offering something fresh and vibrant at the same time.

The production is clear and crisp throughout the entire album. It's hard to believe that the band have only been going since 2015 as they sound they've been going for decades longer. Do yourself a favour and check out Horehound now. Their debut album is one that will have you coming back for more punishment. Awesome stuff.
