Review

Human Factor is the new album from Brazilian Doom/Stoner Metallers Loss who breathe moments of Sludge Rock, Prog Rock, Hard Rock and Groove Metal into their music which allows their record sound like it was influenced by the likes of Black Sabbath, The Obsessed and Mastodon. The record has an intense Prog Rock/Melodic backdrop which sees Loss use that Hard Rock sound to great effect as the music takes a more cerebral 1980’s Heavy Metal approach even when the ferocious drive of the Groove Metal sounds almost fully take over.

The music is quite catchy and whilst not the most groundbreaking, Loss do seem to be highly talented musicians playing the music they love and I admire their way of playing progressive sounds that holds everything together for a highly satisfactory audio experience. All of the songs follow the same creative template as each other with the vocals being quintessentially inspired by the 1980’s Heavy Metal scene which is no bad thing.

Human Factor is also still a cool sounding modern record with Loss switching to familiar modern day style of Groove/Stoner Metal on the heaviest and catchiest parts of the record with the following standout tracks alone: Segredos, Hold Me, Leaving, The Storm, The Mirror and The Human Factor.

Human Factor is never going to change the world of Hard Rock/Heavy Metal but what it does accomplish brilliantly is to showcase a great band from the South American Doom/Stoner Metal scene to check out and enjoy this superbly entertaining record at the same time.

The album is full of standout grooves with the RIFF IS KING and Loss offer a great style of throwback Hard Rock and Heavy Metal that makes Human Factor such a winner.

Excellent and Highly Recommended.
