September 13 will mark the digital and physical release of the debut self-titled album from Toronto’s STAR BEAST featuring ten mesmeric tracks including the singles “The Sea,” “Ghosts,” and “Wanderer.” The debut will be followed by an album release show on September 14 at Toronto’s Bovine Sex Club.
The band shared, “This album was recorded during the lockdown as an experiment in how detuned, fuzzed-out tones and dreamy strings could combine with tight songwriting. It immediately took on a life of its own and grew like a weed. We hope fans have as much fun listening as we did making it.”
STAR BEAST listeners range from fans of psych rock, stoner rock, and doom metal, to shoegaze, grunge and classic rock camps. Equally fuzzy and dreamy, the album satisfies both the lover and the fighter. Lyrically, the album maintains a balancing act between the larger-than-life themes of doomed spacecrafts, post-apocalyptic wastelands and wandering spirits, but also down-to-earth themes like depression and unmet hopes.
