Review

EFRIT is the newest single from SEUM off their upcoming split with Temple of the Fuzz Witch titled "CONJURING" - due for release in Fall 2024 via Black Throne Productions. The song is a mixture of Doom, Sludge and Stoner Metal with a sinister and nightmarish sound with the vocals having a slightly demonic performance around them which isn’t surprising when you’re singing an ancient Arabic Demon when you’re experiencing a nightmarish WEEDIAN TRIP.

This is perhaps SEUM’s heaviest and most daring track to date with the music leaving the Punk Rock roots of their previous records and moving into similar waters as their fellow countrymen DOPETHRONE. The music is even more bass heavy than ever before with a violent down-tuned energy appearing between the cracks of the lo-fi and harsh Sludge/Stoner sounds.

EFRIT allows SEUM the perfect opportunity to transform into a heavier and filthier band than ever before with outstanding results appearing throughout this track. I’m excited to hear more from SEUM from the upcoming split record to see how DEMONIC and TWISTED the band have really become. Until then, enjoy this wonderful slice of FILTH-RIDDEN and WEEDIAN METAL.
