Review
Fuzz/Stoner Rockers Fuzzing Nation released their new EP Into The Desert back in August 2024 and I’ve had friends of the underground community and the band themselves constantly asking me to review this. As the famous saying goes - Give The Audience What They Want. Here’s my belated review for Into The Desert.
Into The Desert is quite a surprisingly entertaining record throughout with Fuzzing Nation living upto the “FUZZ” aspect of their band name. As the EP crackles with classic sounding FUZZ ROCK with some cool elements of Grunge and Desert Rock. This has a slight Alice In Chains vibe in places with the usual aspects of FU MANCHU, KYUSS and Truckfighters appearing within the many musical influences. Though, with Fuzzing Nation coming from the Greek underground scene, there’s a subtle creative energy of their own making which comes through superbly well on the first two tracks of Into The Desert and Free Spirit.
I was pleasantly surprised by the band’s great use of distorted and seedy instrumental sounds that powers the whole EP from start to finish. The music is quite slow natured at times but allows Fuzzing Nation to create an atmospheric sound that brings the multiple Desert Rock themes together at the perfect moment for an intense blast of classic Stoner Rock/Metal grooves.
The later stages of Into The Desert sees Fuzzing Nation add a touch of Doom Rock to proceedings which the band use as the perfect opportunity to explore those heavy ALICE IN CHAINS inspired melodies on the final two tracks Old Days (Same Old Rebel) and Such A Mess) of the EP. With a trippy sideline of cosmic sounds to align the band near the Space Rock genre appearing, Fuzzing Nation have a lot of great ideas that surely need exploring on much longer release. Until then, Into The Desert is a worthwhile EP to immerse yourselves with.
