Stoner Rock Giants DOZER to issue "Reflect to Rewind: A Rarities Collection" 2xLP on November 13th via Blues Funeral Recordings; preorder available!

Swedish heavy rock titans DOZER announce the release of a new collection entitled "Reflect to Rewind: A Rarities Collection", to be issued on 2xLP, CD and digital this November 13th via Blues Funeral Recordings.

Having celebrated their 30th year in 2025 and undertaken back-to-back North American tours, DOZER return with a scorching new collection encompassing even more of their astonishing and prolific history as they enter their fourth decade as Scandinavia's preeminent desert rock band.

Their newest Blues Funeral Recordings release Reflect to Rewind is a double album array of rare tracks, b-sides and singles unearthed from the archives and spanning the band's extensive fuzz-fueled career. Once more, they tapped longtime collaborator Karl Daniel Lidén to painstakingly remaster this volume track by track, enlivening and energizing each gem and showing that they not only deserved but demanded to be brought forth as reflections of DOZER's timeless and unassailable heavy rocking righteousness.

Formed in 1995 in the town of Borlänge, Sweden, DOZER led the earliest wave of stoner/desert rock, a fusion of proto-metal, riff-rock and punk that blasted forth from Scandinavia and Europe in response to the tectonic heft and sun-baked fuzz of American bands Kyuss and Fu Manchu.

30 years on, DOZER are heralded as undisputed forerunners of a movement and champions of volcanic energy. Their status was affirmed in 2023 with the release of the landmark Drifting in the Endless Void, an amp-splitting return that dominated best-of lists and turntables, hailed as "a magnetic fireball of propulsive hooks and cosmic majesty" by Decibel Magazine. This renewed dominance led to DOZER’s first US tour in 20 years and set the stage for their three-decade milestone in 2025.

DOZER have always been prolific. Driven by take-no-prisoners energy, they'd hit the studio often, laying down songs in rapid-fire batches with little concern for schedules and album planning, and their early days saw the band self-release a multitude of small-run 7-inch singles that tapped into their DIY leanings and allowed forward momentum at maximum velocity. More songs surfaced on compilations and as limited-release b-sides, while others went into the proverbial vault.

In celebration of their 30th anniversary in 2025, DOZER enthusiastically presented Rewind to Return, a double album of singles, rare tracks and b-sides from across their prolific history. Neither a chronological document nor a comprehensive collection of every non-album track, this is a carefully considered selection of the band's favorites, chosen for their meaning and impact, brilliantly remastered by Karl Daniel Lidén and assembled to create the best possible record to commemorate their vast catalog and untouchable legacy.

Review

The Godfathers of Swedish Stoner Metal DOZER have had quite the resurgence over the last few years with the band releasing their critically acclaimed 2023 album Drifting In The Endless Void which has been adored by fans and critics alike. DOZER are celebrating their thirtieth anniversary as a band and to mark this occasion their releasing this epic record Rewind to Return: Rarities, Singles and B-Sides.

This is a collection of tracks especially selected by the band which features non-album based tracks and it’s a great mix of songs that I’ve not heard in a very long time plus there are songs that I haven’t heard at all. The album has quite a classic and modern sounding approach which shows you why DOZER have cemented their legacy and reputation to be classed as one of the true greats of the modern Stoner Rock/Metal scene.

Sometimes this record feels like a new studio album from DOZER with the excellent remastered work carried out by Karl Daniel Lidén. There’s not a bad track held on the record which showcases what great songwriters DOZER have been throughout their celebrated career. The songs are all delivered with Desert/Stoner Rock grit that allows DOZER to play a powerful style of groundbreaking FUZZY grooves and Desert Rock atmospherics.

Everything flows superbly well and quite naturally with DOZER showing today’s upcoming bands on how to construct a first rate track with a full on rock and roll narrative, sludgy grooves, tight melodies and superb vocals which shine throughout on tracks such as: Tanglefoot, Hail The Dude, Southern Star, The Electrocter, Universe 75, Mammoth Mountain, Star By Star and 2 Ton Butterfly.

Rewind to Return: Rarities, Singles and B-Sides is an essential record to have in your DOZER collection with it’s non-stop style of pulsating grooves and classic hooks which you’ll be playing DAYS ON END. Every track is an absolute banger DOZER playing a non-stop and thrilling style of STONER METAL momentum which easily allows this to be one of the best records to own this year even if the songs aren’t entirely new. However, it’s the whole musical journey that the band takes you upon and leaves you THANKING THE HEAVY METAL GODS that bands such as DOZER exist within the world right now.

This maybe classed as a B-Sides / Rarities album, however this is an ALBUM OF THE YEAR contender right here.

Drifting In The Endless Void: Tracklisting

1.Mutation/Transformation

5.No Quarter Expected, No Quarter Given

6.Run, Mortals, Run!

7.Missing 13

Review

Sludge/Stoner Metal Legends DOZER return after a lengthy absence with their new album Drifting In The Endless Void. An album that sees the band move into the Psych Rock and Space Rock arenas with a sublime Progressive influence leading the way. As with most Swedish Sludge/Stoner Metal bands, the album primarily changes into a more emotional and DOOMED out style of music which showcases the more emotional side to DOZER that we haven't heard from them before.

The album has elements of Fuzz Rock spiked with their Cosmic grooves which you can hear on the outstanding opening tracks of Mutation/Transformation and the already classic track "Ex-Human, Now Beast". With DOZER going a slightly new modern makeover, there's still elements of the classic sound they ruled with back in their early years which saw them support some of the biggest bands within the underground scene such as Mastodon where I saw them originally back in 2005.

DOZER never rests on their creative laurels on this record as they try different and challenging new sounds for this album especially on tracks such as Dust For Blood, Andromeda, "No Quarter Expected, No Quarter Given" and Missing 13. Sometimes the grooves maybe melodic but then they bring a "SLEDGEHAMMER" delivery to the music with Psychedelic Explosions allowing DOZER to play a more "Post-Metallic" sound to the album especially on the longer tracks.

Drifting In The Endless Void has first rate production values and is without a doubt DOZER's best sounding album to date and will go down as one of the best comeback albums from the Sludge/Stoner Metal scene in recent years.

Believe the hype with this release, this is something special and will no doubt inspire and influence the next generation of bands for years to come.

Swedish Stoner Rock Rock Godfathers DOZER To Release New Album "Drifting In The Endless Void" on Blues Funeral Recordings; Pre-order & First Single Available!

Swedish godfathers of stoner rock DOZER return after over a decade with their long-anticipated sixth studio album "Drifting in the Endless Void", to be released this April 21st on Blues Funeral Recordings. Watch their brand new video for "Ex-Human, Now Beast" right now!

About Dozer's awaited comeback, Dozer co-founder and lead guitarist Tommi Holappa comments: "It’s been 15 years since the last Dozer album and this is who we are now. We might be older, maybe not so much wiser, but I think we may have made one of our best albums. When we started writing new material, we didn’t have a clue what this band would sound like in the 2020s. It was a bit nerve-wracking at first, but after we finished "Missing 13", the first song we wrote for the album, we knew we were onto something. The first single "Ex-Human, Now Beast" has all the energy, power and heaviness we've always loved to create, it's proof we can still rock and we can’t wait for people to hear it!"

About the video: “As soon as I saw the track name, I knew I needed to do a video where one or more of the guys get beastified by a giant tentacled monster,” laughs Peder Bergstrand, director, Lowrider frontman and longtime friend of the band. "The result is a mix of horror, humor, and these relentless animated nightmare sections that I think match the track’s non-stop rocket fuel drum parts really well.”

Formed in the mid-’90s in the sleepy town of Borlänge, the Swedish foursome led the first wave of European-style stoner/desert rock in response to the tectonic heft and sun-baked fuzz of American bands Kyuss and Fu Manchu. Over a decade since their last outing, DOZER have now reawakened with a vengeance: their new album "Drifting in the Endless Void" is an undeniable affirmation of their status not just as forefathers of a movement, but as champions of volcanic energy and pure riff worship.

DOZER still bring the tumultuous churn that longtime fans expect, but their sound has become a gravitational mass that also pulls in massive sludge, fuzzed-out doom, space-tripping grooves, red-eyed psychedelics, and whatever else they find floating in the vast cosmic expanse. Their return to the musical landscape they helped shape is cause enough for celebration, but the explosive playing and fiery purpose is what makes "Drifting in the Endless Void" a truly unmissable experience!

"Drifting in the Endless Void" will be available worldwide on April 21st on various vinyl formats, limited digipack CD and digital. The ultra-limited deluxe vinyl edition will ship earlier to PostWax Vol. II subscribers. Preorder now on Blues Funeral Recordings website, Bandcamp and European store.

New album "Drifting In The Endless Void"
Out April 21st on Blues Funeral Recordings

On their preternaturally confident earliest releases, which included albums In the Tail of the Comet (2000) and Madre De Dios (2001) on the legendary Man’s Ruin label and a split LP with John Garcia’s bright-burning though post-Kyuss outfit Unida, DOZER's fuzz-rock hypnosis was at cosmic levels, thanks to guitarist Tommi Holappa’s rolling riffs and fried psychedelics and singer/guitarist Fredrik Nordin’s blistering vocal power.

The third album Call it Conspiracy was a milestone in perfectly crafted high-energy anthems, as the lockdown grooves of rhythm section Johan Rockner (bass) and Erik Bäckwall (drums) along with heaping helpings of ‘70s hard rock heroics saw the band established as a live force, leveling audiences across the UK and Europe with their white-hot eruptions. Even as DOZER achieved greater recognition on European, US and Australian tours supporting the likes of Clutch, Spiritual Beggars and Mastodon, Holappa also started side project Greenleaf as an outlet for jammier, less-structured digressions.

An inflection point came with Dozer’s fourth album Through the Eyes of Heathens, which saw them drive the intensity into the red and push the tempos to match. Their fuzz-groove attack now infused with heightened aggression and crush, the shift was consecrated by the appearance of Mastodon’s Troy Saunders lending vocals to the song “Until Man Exists No More”. DOZER pushed ahead in this vein with 2008’s Beyond Colossal, which All Music called, “arguably their heaviest and darkest song cycle yet,” and which included a career watermark in the form of mini-epic “Empire’s End” with guest vocals from Neil Fallon of Clutch.

But, although the album was a triumph in channeling the various tributaries of the members’ decade-plus growth and influences, it would also be their last proper album for quite some time. Nordin returned to school for his Master’s degree, Holappa turned Greenleaf into a full-time band, and Dozer went on indefinite hiatus. If the band seemed to sleep while Greenleaf roamed, DOZER have now reawakened by signing a worldwide deal with US label Blues Funeral Recordings, which will release their first studio album in fifteen years.
