SANDRIDER premiere video single of NINE INCH NAILS rendition 'March of the Pigs' from forthcoming tribute album "The Downward Spiral Redux"

Following a record breaking Redux Kickstarter campaign, the first single taken from the forthcoming MER Redux Series release "The Downward Spiral Redux" is ready to be unleashed: Seattle, WA grunge metal trio SANDRIDER present their hard-hitting take on the NINE INCH NAILS classic 'March of the Pigs'. This highly anticipated new Redux Series installment is scheduled for release on November 28, 2025.

Parallel to "The Downward Spiral Redux", Magnetic Eye Records will release their customar companion album entitled "Best of Nine Inch Nails Redux" that contains 13 cover renditions of deep cuts and all-time classics from across NINE INCH NAILS' catalogue recorded by some of the heavy underground's most exciting artists.

Watch the video for 'March of the Pigs' below:

SANDRIDER comment: "Our choice for a tribute track, 'March of the Pigs', is a song that hits so hard", vocalist and guitarist Jon Weisnewski writes. "It did when it first came out, it still does now, and it'll be just as brutal in another 30 years. Trying to harness that beast and make sure that it still had the timeless impact, we all expect it to have, was a humbling challenge."

SANRIDER hail from Seattle, Washington and, true to their place of origin, embraced grunge as the creative base to which they gave their own spin by adding a hard and sharp metal edge. The trio was formed in 2008 and currently consists of the two former AKIMBO members - vocalist and guitarist Jon Weisnewski and Nat Damm on drums - with bass player and vocalist Jesse Roberts from THE RUBY DOE as the third comrade-in-heaviness. SANRIDER have released four acclaimed albums with "Enveletration" (2023) being their latest.

At this moment, the world's reliance on machines, algorithms, and artificial intelligence has never been greater. This makes now the perfect time to reflect on the emergence of a musical force whose blend of mechanized instrumentation and raw emotion was singular and revolutionary.

NINE INCH NAILS were formed in Cleveland, Ohio in 1988. They arrived around the same time as grunge when Generation X was developing an awareness of itself, but while there was cross-appeal, the sound they created was clearly and intentionally something very different.

The skepticism of that era came through in the music, with artists from RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE to NIRVANA pushing back against what were acceptable words and actions in our society, and everything from the ideals of what major musicians should do with their fame to what people and corporations stood for were fair targets.

NINE INCH NAILS were at least twice as cynical as everyone else and reflected the singular, driven musical expression of mastermind Trent Reznor. The music he made as NIN has always ranged from infectious, furious, delicate, and sexual to transgressive, uplifting, cautionary, and hopeless. While Reznor did not always make broad, blunt statements about politics, materialism or repression (though he definitely did at times), there was a consistently restless quality to his music. His frustration at the veneer of normalcy and acceptability that characterized modern popular music was palpable, and he seemed to search endlessly for seams to peel back and rip loose to expose what was underneath.

Of NINE INCH NAILS' seminal breakthrough album, Spin magazine respectfully had this to say in 2024: "As The Downward Spiral turns 30 this year, it still stands as an act of artistic transgression against the limits of popular music. Pushing the boundaries of creative censorship, it is still considered Nine Inch Nails' most daring and uncompromising album."

Join us in paying homage to one of rock's most ambitious innovators and angriest Gen X voices railing against the status quo, as we present our latest Redux Series installment "The Downward Spiral Redux", along with the traditional companion album "Best of Nine Inch Nails Redux". The two double album collections together comprise 27 re-imagined renditions by some of today's coolest and heaviest artists taking on NINE INCH NAILS classics and deep cuts.

The Magnetic Eye Redux Series features hand-picked classic albums from across the history of rock and metal re-imagined in their entirety from start to finish. Artists we love from within and outside the heavy rock landscape choose tracks to make their own, bringing these milestone records into the new millennium with crushing heaviness and searing energy. To date, we've produced Redux editions of PINK FLOYD's "The Wall", HELMET's "Meantime", BLACK SABBATH's "Vol. 4", JIMI HENDRIX's "Electric Ladyland", ALICE IN CHAINS' "Dirt", AC/DC's "Back in Black", SOUNDGARDEN's "Superunknown", JETHRO TULL's "Aqualung", and RAMONES' self-titled debut, which have included artists like RED FANG, THE SWORD, MATT PIKE, PALLBEARER, THE MELVINS, ALL THEM WITCHES, KHEMMIS, ASG, SUPERSUCKERS, ZAKK WYLDE, MARK LANEGAN, VOIVOD, and many more amazing artists.

Join us for our tenth foray into Redux territory as we pay proper respect to the US industrial rock legends NINE INCH NAILS!

Famed Seattle Rockers Sandrider return with their blistering and turbo-charged new 7 inch double single of Aviary/Baleen and it’s a mighty fine addition to their 2023 acclaimed album Enveletration. Both tracks offer fast-paced Psych Stoner Grooves that match that legendary Seattle GRUNGE swagger with Sandrider having mighty boisterous PUNK ROCK fun within the opening track Aviary.

There’s a slight At The Drive In sound within this track with Sandrider’s trademark outlandish Doom-esque drive with the Psychedelic and Grunge aspects of the track. Jon’s vocals have a social awareness to them with the lyrics contained on this track which surprised even myself on the hard hitting themes the band touch upon. The music remains constantly upbeat in places despite the socially aware subject matter. This is classic SANDRIDER through and through which sees the band play wicked sounding sludgy guitar solos with a killer sideline in metallic grooves.

Second track Baleen is another rebellious slice of Punk Rock and Grunge sounds with Sandrider playing with an aggressive creative attitude with flashes of Psych Rock melody that has quite a bone-crunching sound within the later stages of the track. The “LESS IS MORE” drive of the track gives way to some of the most epic and technically impressive sounds on the release alone.

Sandrider once again teamed up with the legendary Matt Bayles for this release. Matt has worked with the likes of SOUNDGARDEN, ISIS and MASTODON within his lengthy career and the results are gloriously diverse as ever.

Aviary/Baleen proves why Sandrider are one of the essential bands you need to know about right now if you’re a fan of the Grunge/Stoner Metal scene. This is another intense and first-rate release from one of the best bands currently out there.

Review

Sludge/Stoner Rockers Sandrider return with their new album Enveletration and sees the band returning to their roots with sounds reminiscent from their acclaimed debut album but matching them agains the Hardcore Punk movement heard over their last couple of records. There's a more outlandish Punk and Psychedelic spirit on this album that brings a more aggressive Progressive feel that sees the band playing similar styles of music to their underground peers such as KYLESA and TORCHE.

The music remains constantly catchy with modern sounding waves of Sludge Power Rock merged with a kick-ass metallic Stoner edge.

Opening song Alia is classic Sandrider through and through with the band merging Post-Stoner soundscapes against a subtle Hardcore backdrop with the faster Stoner sounds allowing Sandrider to play some of the riffiest grooves they've laid down since their debut album but still building new exciting sounds for themselves to fully explore and play with. The song is highly melodic with tons of catchy guitar reverb to provide a more unsettling muscular sound when the grooves become ever more present. The top-notch vocal delivery is superb as well.

Second song Enveletration is a catchy and fast-paced Hardcore Punk based number with Sandrider holding back the Sludge/Stoner Metal backdrop before exploding into a loud wall of Psychedelic based Noise Rock sounds. The track does almost veer into the heavier depths of Sludge/Stoner Metal with the bombastic vocals and AMPLIFIER WORSHIP riffs that all combine for an unsettling "Mexican Standoff" towards the end of the song. Very hard to describe but so easily to listen to and get emotionally involved with.

Third song Circles offers a more "DOOM-POP" style song that TORCHE were known for but still having that Snadrider sludgy Hardcore Punk Rock flavour. The vocals are superb with the dual use of vintage Stoner delivery and modern day melodic Doom Rock styles which the band use similar delivery with the instrumental work. The song is very socially aware with the lyrics and it's good to see Sandrider playing to their creative strengths on this song. I can detect a Sub-Pop Records vibe going on with this track going "Grunge" in certain places but this album essentially remains a Sludge/Stoner Rock album with many different sounds and influences being used to great effect.

Fourth song Tourniquet continues with the creative journey heard within the last song but with a more positive and aggressive approach. Some epic chainsaw NOISE ROCK guitars leading the way with a Sludgy and WEEDIAN backdrop being played at a spectacular pace. Throw in a KILLER singalong chorus and Sandrider feel  like they're at the height of their creative powers with this song. The subtle use of melodic Post-Stoner tones and aggressive Sludge Rock catches the imagination the most on this track with this becoming one of the standout tracks on the album.

Fifth song Weasel is where Sandrider becomes slightly leaner and meaner with their music with the band offering another wild ride of Sludge/Punk Rock with a sense of kick-ass ANARCHY being heard within this track. The music is superbly played and the lyrics may not be as refined but they get the job done of speaking to all corners of the underground Hardcore Punk and WEEDIAN underground scenes. The funky bass guitar and drums are excellent throughout that allows the vocals and guitars to have a more menacing presence to them.

We're five songs into this album and Sandrider has astounded me with the sheer amount of great grooves and riffs the band deliver on this album. And we have five more tracks to go. Sandrider continue their Hardcore Punk/Sludge/Stoner Metal journey with even more catchy Psych Rock and Noise Rock sounds joining along the way.

The album perhaps becomes more Psychedelic based but Enveletration still remains a groove-laden Sludge/Stoner Metal monster where Sandrider adapt a more confident "POWER TRIO" approach on tracks such as Slumber, Proteus, Priest and Grouper.

Enveletration is an album that's brimming with action packed, grooves and meaty riffs that allows Sandrider to create highly original sounds of their own. The album benefits from first rate production values that gives the band a more compelling sound compared to their previous albums with Enveletration becoming an essential album to listen to, fully explore and add to your own record collection.

Simply unmissable...
