Review

Yonder is the debut single from Italian Doom/Sludge/Stoner Metal Band SLUGG and it’s a highly captivating song almost running for ten minutes in length. The song has all the elements you require for a modern day Doom/Sludge/Stoner Metal song with traces of Psych Rock, Post-Metal and a small trace of Prog Rock/Metal.

The song starts off with a YOB-esque quiet drien Psychedelic Post-Rock flair before grinding down for a heavier Sludge/Stoner Metal groove with a Proto-Doom outlook appearing. The vocals appear and they’re quite good with the lyrics setting the scene for the overall journey of the song. Heavy jagged guitars and raw sounding drums allow SLUGG to bring a slight Grunge influence to the party.

The song is adequately spaced out with the different styles of Psych Rock/Metal that SLUGG employs with their Power Trio formation. Though, the song becomes more of a Psych Doom Metal odyssey more than anything else. The song does have epic small bursts of aggressive guitar distorted energy within different stages of the song that make it truly standout.

SLUGG's debut song is a winning entry for introducing themselves into the realm of Doom/Sludge/Stoner Metal and I can’t wait to hear what they have for a more substantial release such as an EP or full length album.
