Exclusive Album Premiere Of EARTH MESSIAH - Ouroboros

EXCLUSIVE ALBUM STREAM:
EARTH MESSIAH SHARE UPCOMING ALBUM IN ITS ENTIRELY!

Gothenburg's heavy stoner rock unit EARTH MESSIAH is set to release their debut full-length, Ouroboros, this Friday March 1st via powerhouse label Argonauta Records. After the trio just recently premiered a first single for the track 'In The Darkness', it's about time to give the full album some spins, as OUTLAWS OF THE SUN are now streaming EARTH MESSIAH's upcoming record in its entirely!

Says the band
"The creation of "Ouroboros" has been a bit like giving birth. It's been sweaty, it's been bloody and in the end we've produced something we're very proud of. When the recording process began, we had known eachother just a few months - so we kinda had to fastforward through a lot of the group process.

I feel that in the end this has welded us together as both humans and musicians; It has also given us a mutual musical language that you're sure to hear on the album. "Ouroboros" and the collaboration with Argonauta Records has really been a springboard for our creativity - And we're already writing music for our next release! We hope you enjoy "Ouroboros" as much as we do!“

Ouroboros Tracklist:

1. Ouroboros
2. Escape From Reality
3. Attention
4. Trouble Child
5. In The Darkness
6. I Am
7. Queen Of The Land Of Tomorrow
8. Always Remember
9. Father Of Fire

When EARTH MESSIAH formed in 2017 by Mathias Helgesson (Unhealth, Ex Lawgiver) and Patrik Orrmén (ex Fuzztrated, ex Rhubarb Blues Band) , things hit off directly, the band's first and heavily fuzzy tracks seemed to come naturally as soon as the two started playing together.

With Mathias' strong songwriting skills and the pounding drive of Patriks drums in place, the search began for more band members who would share their mutual vision. In early 2018 they met up with bass wizard Marcus Hedkvist (From Soil, ex Eskatologia) and it was fuzz at first sight, thus completing the trio while Mathias took over the microphone.

Their two track demo
Nocturnal Thoughtgrinder was recorded in late 2017, and rendered in lots of positive feedback and interest in the band, followed by a worldwide deal with Italy's ever growing label Argonauta Records.

Ouroboros will hit the stores on March 1st 2019, coming as CD, LP and Digital Download, and it's available to purchase at Argonauta Records

EARTH MESSIAH is:

Mathias - Guitar & Vox
Patrik - Drums
Marcus - Bass

Album News - CITIES OF MARS Announce THE HOROLOGIST For RIPPLE MUSIC

CITIES OF MARS: Swedish Doom Trio team up with RIPPLE MUSIC for THE HOROLOGIST | Stream and share new song ‘HYDRAHEAD’
The Horologist is officially released on 5th April 2019 on Ripple Music
Stream and share new song ‘Hydrahead’ by Cities of Mars here –

https://soundcloud.com/ripple-music/cities-of-mars-hydrahead
Formed in 2014 in Gothenburg by bassist/singer Danne Palm, guitarist Christoffer Norén and drummer Johan Küchler, Cities of Mars take a lead from the likes of Mastodon, Kylesa, Sleep and Baroness.

Combining heavy doom riffs, ambient soundscapes and haunting vocals, there’s an unmistakable sci-fi narrative that flows through their music, helping them to push boundaries and channel their unique firebrand of heavy progressive rock.

As chief proponents of stoner metal and corporeal ancestors in a revered lineage of Swedish doom rock history, following the success of their inaugural/self-released digital single ‘The Third Eye/Cyclopean Ritual’ (produced by Esben Willems of Monolord/Berserk Audio) the band wasted no time in setting out to record, Celestial Mistress. Released in 2016 on Suicide Records, this mind-crushing EP – featuring the captivating artwork of Gothenburg-based graphic artist Axel Widén – truly signalled the band’s arrival on the underground scene.

Cities of Mars have embarked on numerous European tours since their inception and new shows heralded the arrival of new songs, all of which fed into the release of their debut album, Temporal Rifts (2017). With the lyrics on each song adding a chapter to a continuing story, Temporal Rifts follows the ascent of a Soviet cosmonaut on a covert space mission in 1971 and his discovery of an ancient Martian city that awakens a sleeping conspiracy from the dawn of humanity.

This April the saga continues, following three solid years of writing, jamming and touring under their collective belts. Now working alongside Ripple Music label and the management skills of Blackskull Services, Cities of Mars will unleash their awesome new album The Horologist on 5th April 2019.

Review

Acrophilia is the new album from Turkish Psych/Space/Stoner Rockers – Uluru. This is a very progressive album with the band playing different styles of Instrumental Spaced Out Rock. It’s good to see Uluru playing a more direct style of music and not trying to copy from other bands. This is a band playing their own style of music and becomes even better for it.

The album is quite loud and way heavier than I expected. As I expected Uluru to play a softer style of Post-Rock influenced Stoner Rock. However the band aren’t afraid to veer into Stoner Metal territory and you can hear that the band’s loud ROAR on the excellent opening track – Insidious Queen. The music is quite upbeat and gloomy at the same time as Uluru show a real flair for creating different progressive and psychedelic sounds.

Second song – Şark – opens with a slightly Middle Eastern vibe before the band opt for a more driven Stoner Rock riff. The song isn’t as intense as the opening song but it does allow Uluru to show a softer and more emotional side to their music. The music can be too flashy at times but at least Uluru keep the listener involved with the many different musical directions happening in a short space of time.

The other songs carry on the same type of formula as the opening songs with Siderea, Constantine and Acrophilia Jam having many more moments of finely played Psychedelic and Progressive Stoner Rock. The overall tone and sound of the album changes with each song but at least Uluru have all their bases covered on this album.

The production on the album it top-notch as Uluru deliver a masterclass of Instrumental Stoner Rock to the underground masses. The Space Rock atmosphere of the album is perhaps the most intriguing aspect of the album. As it’s constantly weaving a magical sound that holds everything together perhaps mostly on the final two songs on the album – Sin ‘n’ Shamash and Aeternum. This is perhaps the most exciting part of the album as Uluru play to their strengths on these songs and it shows with stunning riffs throughout.

Acrophilia is the type of album that should convince organizers of prestigious European Musical Festivals such as Roadburn, Desertfest and Freak Valley to have Uluru perform at their festivals. As they’re seriously that good and this album is a testament to their hard work and undeniable talent.

Review

Sigils is the new album from USA Progressive Doom/Sludge Rockers – Conjurer. The band released their excellent debut album about three or four years ago. This album sees the band return with a more experimental, gloomier and heavier approach. This all builds up to the band playing some heavy epic psychedelic sounds. The album moves away from the harsher sounds first heard on their debut album for a more melodic tone but Sigils still has it’s fair share of heavier parts.

Opening song – Will Of The Hag – is a song built on many different musical styles such as Doom, Sludge, Stoner, Psych, Post-Hardcore and Post-Metallic vibes that all have the same part to play and that’s creating the environment for Conjurer to impress people with. The vocals are a mixture of clean vocals and harsh growls and they complement each other surprisingly well.

Second song – Rusted Crown – opens with an industrial/sludge riff that soon moves into the standard Doom/Stoner Metal sound that sees Conjurer play a slower style of music compared to the opening song. You can hear elements of Kowloon Walled City and Mastodon on this song and ends up as one of the standout songs on the album.

Third song – Incarnate – has a more direct CONAN influence on this song as everything starts really slow before Conjurer gather pace and bring a wide range of heavy Doom based riffs to the party and the results are gloriously violent especially when the sombre psychedelic sounds appear.

Fourth song - At Last – is one of the darkest songs on the album. As Conjurer settle for a standard Doom/Sludge/Stoner Metal song that fully comes alive thanks to the intense dark lyrics the band have written for this song. I had some issues with the vocals as they feel out of place at times but soon settle down for an exciting and action-packed finish.

The final three songs on the album Across The Void, Light Of Death and Servitor carries on the gloomy and almost apocalyptic tone of the album. Across The Void and Savour are perhaps the best songs held on the album. As these songs you how exciting Conjurer actually are when playing a more aggressive style of music.

The production on Sigils is superb with Conjurer’s music flowing naturally from beginning to end. The whole tone and atmosphere of Sigils is bleak but the band are not afraid to play a more hopeful style of music especially on Across The Void.

Sigils is an album that will hopefully see the Doom/Sludge/Stoner Metal community stand-up and take notice of Conjurer. As they’ve really the goods with Sigils and delivered a genuinely exciting and daring album.

Excellent and Highly Recommended.

Review

Oreyeon were originally known as ORION when they released their debut album Builders Of Cosmos a few years ago. That album as the album title suggest was a heavy mix of Space Rock, Psych Rock and Stoner Metal. The overall sound and production of the album wasn’t the best but it was still a superbly entertaining album that I still listen to from time to time.

Now the band are back and have changed their name to Oreyeon. The band are now signed to Heavy Psych Sounds (this label goes from strength to strength and is one of the best record labels in the Underground Sludge/Doom/Stoner Metal scene) and Ode To Oblivion is their first album for the label. I’m pleased to say that the band and album sound amazing from start to finish. This album is a lot more focused and the songwriting has moved on leaps and bounds since their debut album.

Ode To Oblivion is a brilliantly entertaining album from start to finish and you can tell that from the opening song – T.I.O. The music is LOUD, FAST and HEAVY but with a real genuine warmth to it. It’s purely an instrumental song but shows you how the band add swirling psychedelic noises to their own blend of Psychedelic Stoner Rock/Metal.

Second song – Trudging To Vacuity – is where the band opens with a slightly gloomy atmosphere with heavy doomed out and sludgy guitars creating a deep rich sound. The clean and soulful vocals work surprisingly well with the heavy doom sounds and the music drifts further into Space/Stoner Metal territory. You can hear elements first heard on their debut album but Oreyeon play with a more well-rounded confidence on this album. The music is quite progressive and this builds upon the trippy vibes the band create here.

Third song - Ode To Oblivion – carries on the progressive psychedelic sounds heard on the previous two songs but with emphasis firmly more on melody and progression. The vocals have an almost “pop” feel to them and it offers a warm overall approach to Oreyeon’s music. If you’re a fan of Mars Red Sky and perhaps their album Stranded In Aracadia then Oreyeon have a similar feel to their music. Though with the band preferring a heavier Stoner Metal vibe on this album. This is definitely the standout song on the album as the song never outstays its nine minute plus running time.

Fourth song - Big Surprise – is another solid offering from the band with a faster style of Psychedelic Stoner Rock with the band having a few tricks up their sleeves as the song moves to its natural conclusion. With some hidden sludgy guitars played along the way.

The final two songs The Ones and Starship Pusher sees the album move up a gear in the volume department. Oreyeon have written two final songs that show off their undeniable talent to great effect. As the album moves from one different sound to the next. The mood can be quite gloomy at times especially on The Ones as the band play a more cinematic style of music compared to the other songs held on the album.

Oreyeon have delivered the goods with Ode To Oblivion and this shows why this album is a contender for album of the year. It’s that good and you owe it to yourself to check this album out now.

Review

Red Beard Wall return with their new album – The Fight Needs Us All – and it’s good to see the band remaining with Argonauta Records for this release. Coming two years after their celebrated debut album, this album sees Red Beard Wall return with an even heavier sound compared to their debut album. The musical influences of Torche, Floor, High On Fire, Sleep and Mastodon can still be felt within the DNA of this album and that is no bad thing in my book.

Red Beard Wall have still created a highly original and violently angry album that offers a few wicked poppier sounds along the way.

Opening song – Come On Down – is a distorted Sludge/Fuzz driven song with excellent dual vocals showcasing the light and dark moments of the album. I don’t know if Aaron handled all vocal duties on this album or if George did as well. If Aaron did handle all vocal duties then he puts in a powerhouse performance on this song and the entire album. Though it’s the music that’s the main draw here with Red Beard Wall playing a mixture of Doom, Sludge and Stoner Metal sounds that will have fans of the genre nodding in agreement.

Second song – To My Queen – is a heavier and more sinister offering with a few Doom-Pop sounds that Torche and Floor are known for being added for great effect. The lo-fi sound of the album gives Red Beard Wall a more threatening presence but the music is always constantly engaging and never outstays its welcome. The vocals and lyrics once again do their job and allows the band to create another outstanding song.

Third song - Ode To Green – sees the band open with a poppier sound but you know with this being Red Beard Wall that a heavy distorted riff and Aaron’s demonic vocals are never too far away. Though it’s good to see the band staying with the Doom-Pop sound with heavy and angry outbursts of Sludge/Stoner Metal holding everything together.

Fourth song – Reverend – offers a darker alternative to the opening three songs as the mood is more reflective and gloomy. The song is quite slow-paced at first with intelligent drumming by George leading the way. The sludgy guitars from Aaron keeps everything grounded and at a subtle pace. This is a purely instrumental song and it’s good to see Red Beard Wall slow things right down and play a more laid-back song.

I’ve been told off in the past for giving too much away when reviewing albums. So with that in mind I’m going to say the second half of the album carries on the same style of music as the first half. Though the music becomes way heavier and sees Red Beard Wall creating some of the albums standout songs with songs such as: The Warning, Tell Me The Future Of Existence and The Fight Needs Us All.

If you’re new to the world of Red Beard Wall and want to hear something different to your usual Doom/Sludge/Stoner Metal bands then I recommend you check this band out now. As Red Beard Wall have the potential to be you’re new favourite band.

The Fight Needs Us All is a fantastic sounding album and that’s down to the excellent production that’s been given to this album. The atmosphere is quite raw at times but that’s Red Beard Wall’s overall style and it works brilliantly well for the band. I had high hopes for The Fight Needs Us All and I’m happy to state that this album has exceeded all expectations. As this album is a contender for one of the best albums of the year.

Overall, The Fight Needs Us All is a must-have and unmissable album.

Review

Greetings all,

To all of you out there with a fondness for the dark and haunted, we have for you an offering of unrelenting dark vibes from the mighty Dead Witches. Anyone out there unfamiliar with the band, this is original Electric Wizard drummer and Ramesses main man Mark Greening’s latest incarnation. The band brings a serious creepy vibe and monstrous heaviness on their second record, The Final Exorcism.

It follows their impressive debut Ouija and builds on the occult based heaviness. The record also has the debut of new vocalist, Suzi Chameleone, who has a distinct and powerful voice that shines through the darkness of Greenings “assault and battery” drumming and the potent, fuzzed out guitar and bass of Oliver Hill and Carl Geary respectively. The Final Exorcism is stunning record from beginning to end the haunted imagery and dark, heavy rock the band delivers drives one to hell and pulls them back again numerous times throughout the seven amazing tracks.

There’s Someone There opens with a snippet from a horror flick before unleashing the big drums, fuzz heavy riffs and strong female vocals that are present throughout the record. The title track follows, The Final Exorcism brings a massive, slow riff that brings about a methodical decimation of the listener. The eerie, noisy Goddess of the Night unleashes heavy cymbal crashes and a psyched out heavy wah that lovingly assaults the listener before creeping away with a dark, psyched outro.

When do the Dead see the Sun is a bit of a change of pace. A shorter track with a slower, methodical pace that is reminiscent of a 60’s/70’s pop rock feel and male vocals, think the Kinks on a bad acid trip and you get my drift. The haunting and heavy riff of The Church by the Sea comes next. It’s anguished chorus “The Church by the Sea/It Will never let me be” carries the burdened soul of the song through a march inspired breakdown that brings the methodical monster to a close. The tempo picks back up a bit with Lay Demon, which has a big riff and a big heavy psych inspired solo.

Fear the Priest closes the album with a bombastic end. The track unleashes the creepy feel with some heavy phase into the breakdown, a fuzzy bassline and a wild outro.

Any fan of occult based rock will adore this offering from Dead Witches. There is not a misstep on the record. The band does a remarkable job conjuring deep, haunted imagery with the occult heavy darkness. Let us all pray that this isn't the band’s final exorcism. I, for one, need more. Dead Witches deserves our praise for doing what they do and doing it damn well. Dig on this!

Review

This is my first review that I’ve written since my brief retirement/hiatus that I announced earlier this year. Obviously it didn’t last long as I missed the scene too much and that’s thanks to bands such as GEEZER who drew me back to the Stoner Rock/Metal community. GEEZER have became one of my favourite bands from the scene over the last few years.

Their 2016 album was my favourite album of that year and it’s good to see GEEZER returning to that world with their excellent sounding new EP – Spiral Fires. Though this is perhaps the most Psychedelic Sounding version of GEEZER that we’ve heard so far. GEEZER have a new member in their ranks with Steve Markota joining the band on Drums & Percussion.

If you’re a fan of the Heavy Blues Rock sound that appeared on the last GEEZER album Psychoriffadelia then you’ll be happy to hear the band haven’t forgotten their Blues Rock roots on this EP as it’s the main driving force of the EP and one that allows GEEZER to play those dynamically heavy Psychedelic/Spaced Out sounds.

The EP only lasts for 25 minutes but GEEZER have put out a first rate release where all the songs are equally as good and strange as each other. Highlights for myself have to Spiral Fires Part 2 and the majestic sounding Charley Reefer.

Apparently there will be a new GEEZER album later this year. If the album is anything as good as Spiral Fires then GEEZER could have another epic sounding album on their hands and I for one will be counting down the days for it’s release.

Spiral Fires production is excellent which isn’t surprising since it’s been handled by GEEZER’s very own Pat Harrington who knows a thing or two on making records sound so good.

Overall, GEEZER have released another superb EP to their already highly impressive back catalogue and one that shows the Stoner Rock community why GEEZER are one of our most important bands working in the scene today.
