MOURN THE LIGHT Announce New Album Sorrow Feeds the Silence + Reveal First Single “The Fading Light”

Argonauta Records is proud to announce the return of Connecticut heavy metal force MOURN THE LIGHT with their highly anticipated sophomore album Sorrow Feeds the Silence, due out November 14th on Deluxe Colored Vinyl, CD and Digital formats.

The album spans 9 tracks across 52 minutes, delivering a powerful blend of doom, power and traditional heavy metal, enriched by progressive elements and the band’s signature emotional depth. Mixed and mastered by Jack Kosto (Seven Spires) and featuring stunning cover art by John Gianelli (Haunt), Sorrow Feeds the Silence stands as Mourn the Light’s boldest and most dynamic work to date.

To mark the announcement, the band has unveiled the first single “The Fading Light”, now streaming on YouTube:

“The Fading Light was the first song written for the new album and it's about how life can defeat you at times, leaving you questioning everything.”

Their latest chapter introduced fans to new vocalist Andy Small (Spellmaster, Olyphant), bringing fresh intensity to the band’s evolving sound.

With Sorrow Feeds the Silence, Mourn the Light push beyond their traditional doom foundations, embracing heavy and classic metal influences while exploring more progressive territories.

“Sorrow Feeds the Silence is a full-length album that carries on in our tradition of singing about life’s struggles and connecting with everyone who feels the same way. We are all human with different stories, but we share the pain that comes with all of it.”

Mourn the Light have built a strong reputation through extensive touring in the US and Canada, leaving their mark on festivals such as Stormbringer Metal Festival, Legions of Metal, New England Stoner and Doom Metal Festival, SXSW Stoner Jam ’19, and sharing the stage with iconic acts including Anvil, Artillery, Haunt, Seven Sisters, Satan, Liege Lord, Cloven Hoof, Lich King and more.

Review

Sideral Voivod is the latest SONIC expedition from GODZILLA WAS TOO DRUNK TO DESTROY TOKYO. The record is a sludgy mix of Psych, Fuzz, Grunge, Noise and Stoner Metal with a subtle nineties Alt-Metal charge leading into some unexpected levels of distorted heaviness. The band adds an abrasive and sonic inducing level of raw aggression into the overall feel and sound of the record which leads into some catchy and fucked up heavy grooves.

The influences of L7, The Melvins, FU MANCHU and Acid King can most definitely be felt and heard with GODZILLA WAS TOO DRUNK TO DESTROY TOKYO applying their own blend of GONZO and HIPSTER based melodies throughout the album. The end result can be quite experimental in the most unexpected of places but doesn’t stop the band playing superbly interesting grooves with that Garage Rock attitude being played very early on within tracks such as Interstellar Greyhound, Icarus and Sideral Voivod. Sometimes the levels of distorted FUZZ Rock drown out the excellent vocals but maybe that’s the point to keep up with the “DESTROY TOKYO” aspect of the band’s name with a violent musical effect developing for the majority of the album.

The album transforms into one of Cosmic Doom landscapes merged with Psych Sludge Rock passages that allows the band to have some wicked fun within the whole album. There’s some freakish extended instrumental passages that have a wicked deviance into JAM Based rock soundscapes with that classic Noise / Grunge aesthetic creating the heaviest and most riff-centric parts of the whole album.

The LO-FI and SEEDY delivery of the record is demonstrated even further on tracks such as Telekinetic Yeti Thunder, King Bong, Space Leech, Worship The Middle and Summer In The Void with elements of MONSTER MAGNET appearing quite suddenly but with GODZILLA WAS TOO DRUNK TO DESTROY TOKYO providing their own creative stamp of PSYCHEDELIC HEAVINESS and OUT OF THIS WORLD WEIRDNESS.

Sideral Voivod does allow the band to perform a wide array of different Sludge/Stoner Rock styles throughout the thirteen tracks contained on the album but told with a mesmerizing down-tuned and amplifier distorted approach. If you love where the AMPS are played at dangerous levels with the band never losing their Psychedelic and Cosmic attitude then this is the place to be. Truth be told, Sideral Voivod has a nightmarish element when the band plays a faster and more violent style of music which may leave you gasping for breath in places.

The record is never boring with GODZILLA WAS TOO DRUNK TO DESTROY TOKYO adding a fresh and unique perspective within their hybrid style of HEAVY RAWK that not only reaches for the STARS but absolutely destroys everything within its wake.

SIderal Voivod is FUCKING AWESOME. Plain and Simple!!!

GODZILLA WAS TOO DRUNK TO DESTROY TOKYO Unleash New Single & Video “Sasquatch’s Eyes” + Announce Upcoming Album

GODZILLA WAS TOO DRUNK TO DESTROY TOKYO Unleash New Single & Video “Sasquatch’s Eyes” + Announce Upcoming Album Sideral Voivod and Canadian Tour. The new album is out September 19, 2025 on Octopus Rising / Argonauta Records (CD, Colored LP, Digital).

Brace yourselves for a fuzz-fueled cosmic rampage, Italian heavy fuzzers Godzilla Was Too Drunk To Destroy Tokyo have just released their brand-new single and official video “Sasquatch’s Eyes”, offering a mind-melting preview of their forthcoming album Sideral Voivod, set for release September 19, 2025 via Octopus Rising / Argonauta Records. Available on CD, limited edition colored vinyl and digital formats, the album promises a kaleidoscopic collision of stoner grooves, acid-drenched riffs and chaotic sci-fi storytelling.

“Sasquatch’s Eyes” is a wild, groove-heavy trip into the band’s trademark blend of 60s acid rock textures, monolithic fuzz and offbeat rhythmic breakdowns. Laced with hypnotic hooks and otherworldly swagger, the track embodies the raw, untamed energy that has made Godzilla Was Too Drunk To Destroy Tokyo one of the most unique acts in the European underground scene.

The band shares:

“‘Sasquatch’s Eyes’ is pure primal vision, a soundtrack for those who’ve stared into the wilderness and felt it staring back. Expect our usual mix of gorilla bass tones, prophetic choruses, and riffs straight from another galaxy, with a touch of paranoia for good measure.”

Formed in 2022 in the small Ligurian village of Calice Ligure, the band is fronted by Sara de Luca (bass destroyer and sonic instigator known as The Evil Lord), alongside Nicola Viola (the octopus-armed drum wizard) and Alessandro “Camu” Camurati (riff-crafting guitar builder). The trio has already taken their high-voltage live assault across Europe and Japan, leaving a wake of crushed stages and blown minds.

Following the buzz around their 2023 releases Atomic Spitfire and Evil Lord, Sideral Voivod pushes their sound even further into interstellar chaos, a hallucinatory ride through doom, psych, sludge and space rock. Fans of L7, Melvins, and The Stooges will feel right at home in Godzilla’s sonic mayhem.

Fuzz/Stoner Rockers DUNE AURORA Unveil First Single and Video "Sunless Queen" from Upcoming Debut Album

band pic. courtesy of Luca Maccario

Italian fuzz-heavy rockers DUNE AURORA have released their brand new single and official video, "Sunless Queen", offering the first taste of their highly anticipated debut full-length, due out this Fall via Octopus Rising / Argonauta Records.

The track and its haunting visual companion dive deep into the band’s sonic core: slow-paced heaviness, hypnotic atmospheres and monolithic riffing. Speaking about the new single, the band states:

"Sunless Queen is a slow, cadenced song with dark atmospheres that has a monolithic presence in our album, thanks to its rhythmic pattern and repetitive riffs. The song depicts a queen who reigns in her own golden age and relates to a being whose presence darkens the sun, a demon she must embrace in order to be reborn. We think this single captures the essence of the sound of our first upcoming album. We are thrilled to present it today with Octopus Rising/Argonauta Records and share it with you."

The release follows the band’s critically noted trajectory, which began with their debut EP Lonely Town in 2022 and continued through a trilogy of standalone singles (Solar Reward, Sail, and Fire) each supported by distinctive music videos that helped define DUNE AURORA’s strong visual and artistic identity.

A key element in the sonic impact of Sunless Queen, and the entire upcoming album, is the mastering by legendary engineer James Plotkin, known for his work with groundbreaking acts such as ISIS, Pelican and Earth. Plotkin’s signature mastering gives the song an immersive and massive depth, perfectly complementing the band’s fuzz-laden intensity.

Based in Turin, Italy, DUNE AURORA currently features Ginny Wagon (vocals, guitar), Serena Bodratto (drums) and Roberta Finiguerra (bass). Their sound merges raw power and emotional weight, blending fuzzy riffs with dark, introspective moods.

A year after joining the Octopus Rising / Argonauta Records roster, the band is now set to unveil the next chapter in their evolution.

Review

Toil & Trouble is the sophomore album from Psych/Sludge/Stoner Rockers Warchief who bring a cold hearted Grunge attitude to the album but also massive amounts of warmth Psychedelic and Sonic trippy endeavours along the way. The sound is always progressive and deeply engaging with Warchief always striving to find the right balance between Grunge, Shoegaze and Alt Metal melodies which they capture superbly well very early on in the album on tracks such as Ghost Egg and Toil & Trouble.

The record moves between King Buffalo and ELDER based Post-Stoner heaviness and the Grunge vibes of Soundgarden and Alice In Chains. The end result is a heavy explosion of distorted Post-Whatever instrumental passages with Warchief creating long drawn out progressive sounds which becomes quite experimental at times but never at the cost of the listener enjoying the whole album.

There’s a highly emotional side to Warchief’s music which comes across mostly within Toil & Trouble with Warchief playing a subdued Post-Rock and Doomgaze based sound. The sound is quite remote and held back at times with Warchief playing intricate strands of Prog Rock and Sludge Rock. There’s an undercurrent of Blues Rock melodies starting to appear with the music becoming superbly heavier with each passing moment. Add levels of ambient music in the background and Warchief are building up for an absolutely barnstorming finish on the second half of the track which taps right into the modern day Stoner Rock/Metal mindset.

Third track opts for an Alt Rock score with small amounts of Post-Rock and Post-Stoner attitude shining through. The mood is kind, engaging and warm-hearted with Warchief building up a steady rhythm of sludgy environments to build the heavier and aggressive sounds that appear later on with the record. Warchief are perhaps channelling the likes of PELICAN and YAWNING MAN on this track but it works superbly well. Though, wait for the second half of the song which transforms into a Progressive Rock/Metal number with a heavy backdrop of sludgier movements. The vocals are abrasive and quite pissed off at times which shows another different side to Warchief.

The fourth track Maailmankaikkeus On Pikimusta Ja TĂ€ynnĂ€ Suuria Vaarallisia TĂ€htiĂ€ (which Google translates as The Universe Is Pitch Black and Full of Large Dangerous Stars  - apologies to the band or any Finnish folks reading. Google Translate is shit at the best of times) - is a subdued Post-Doom / Post-Rock instrumental journey with harsh levels of Sludge Rock terrain spliced throughout the deft and ice-cold Psych Rock passages. This is quite a haunting and surprisingly uplifting sound that sees Warchief put their “Post-Rock” creative identity to great use.

The final two tracks of I Can’t Sleep At Night and Mothmaker sees Warchief explore their hybrid sound of Sludge, Stoner, Grunge, Psych and Doom held together by top-notch Prog Rock trickery. The creative themes that Warchief uses here are superbly played throughout with the band playing some epic musical solos along the way. They demonstrate some intense levels of Psych, Ambient and Cosmic interplay here which allows the record to end in spectacular and dramatic fashion.

Toil & Trouble is quite a soulful and beautifully heavy release which Warchief should ultimately be proud of. Within time, this record could allow Warchief to become more well known and established within the Sludge/Stoner Rock community. As it’s a must have album in every sense of the definition.

Doom/Stoner Metallers BREATH unveils their first single “AWEN” from upcoming new album releasing this Fall on Argonauta Records

Having recently signed with Argonauta Records, Portland, Oregon’s BREATH release “AWEN”. The first single and official music video from their much-anticipated new album BRAHMAN, releasing this Fall.

Watch the video below:

The beginnings of Breath can be traced back to childhood friends Steven O’Kelly and Ian Caton. Their bond allowed a drive of songwriting and spiritual seeking to coalesce into a unique foundation that continues to evolve. It's losing themselves in the woods or meditation, and transmuting those experiences into the vibrational space their musical fingerprint holds. Longtime Breath collaborator and engineer Rob Wrong (Witch Mountain & The Skull) was quickly inspired by their new release BRAHMAN, writing and performing guitar for the entirety of their album. Along with Guitar came Keys, which further elevated the sound with the addition of Lauren Hatch.

In the fertile environment of new instrumentation, “AWEN” expands the boundaries of Breath to new places.

The band comments:

Crawling out from their hermitage, the Druid begins anew in rays shone through the prism of AWEN. Harnessing the addition of guitar, we seek to translate the immutable voice of Mother Nature calling from depths of emerald sanctuary. A song honoring the unspoken confluence, and creative spark between Bard and woods. AWEN binds the overarching metaphysical spirit of our new album BRAHMAN with transformation lifted on the wings of the Morrigan. AWEN emerges in the light of this Goddess, and the transitory half Moon on July 17th .

Stay tuned for more details on BRAHMAN, coming this Fall on Argonauta Records.

Review

Lorquin’s Admiral is a Psych/Desert/Stoner Rock “Supergroup” of sorts featuring members of Afghan Whigs, the Fizz Fuzz, Hermano, Luna Sol, Orquesta del Desierto, Sons of Alpha Centauri and Yawning Sons. Some real heavy hitters and just look at the members of the band with guest contributions from David Angstrom and Country Mark Engel on their exquisite and riff-fuelled debut album.

Lorquin’s Admiral debut album is full of hooks, grooves, riffs and extended instrumental Stoner Rock passages that defines the current scene with focus on songwriting, storytelling, vocal harmonies and superb melodies that drift into areas of Post-Rock, Grunge and Shoegaze which gives the band an ethereal sound you don’t initially expect. There’s an easy going attitude forming from the songs which has a cerebral 1990’s quality when the band dive right into the classic Stoner Rock and Alt Rock scene.

The band aren’t afraid to merge into the more “METAL” side of life especially on the early tracks of Inexplicable Things and Could Have Been Forever. Though things start rather differently with the anthemic opening track My Blue Wife with Lorquin’s Admiral showcasing a Post-Rock based Desert Rock swagger which soon transforms into a classic style of Stoner melody the members have made themselves known with their respective bands.

With a free-flowing Heavy Rock sound developing from the very onset you can hear influences from the likes of Tom Petty, Alice In Chains, The Who and Led Zepp which gives this record a more grounded flow with genuine warm-hearted lyrics that pull you into Lorquin’s Admiral’s deliciously heavy world. Frenzied FUZZY guitars overlap with sludgy environments with the Blues Rock influence coming more and more into play on tracks such as Black Water, My Blue Husband and Aren’t We with the band fully committed and selling the excessive HARD ROCK instrumental solos along the way.

The later stages of the album taps into the 1990’s Nostalgic scene perfectly with fully formed songs that leave you wanting to hear more of their highly energetic sounds that would be considered “STONE COLD CLASSICS” if they were released back in the day especially with the songs Burn And Heal and These Lovely Things.

With brilliantly observed production values, Lorquin’s Admiral debut album is an absolute must have and is perhaps the perfect soundtrack to the summer season. This is an album that can easily be described as “ALL KILLER and NO FILLER” where all tracks are considered definite HOME RUNS throughout.

Add this album to your collection now and you’ll be in STONER ROCK HEAVEN….

Review

Psych Stoner Rockers Rainbow Bridge have made the bold decision to release an instrumental record for their fourth album Soundtrack Of A Silent Land. The band state this is an imaginary soundtrack of some sort with Rainbow Bridge conjuring up vivid sounds such as exquisite Navajo vocals that open and close the album with. There’s some excellent Psychedelic and Fuzzed Up musical expression that moves into areas of distorted heaviness which appear very early on within the outstanding opening track A Silent Land.

Rainbow Bridge operate in the same creative capacity as bands such as Earthless, Yawning Man, and Colour Haze though their subtle blend of Heavy Psych, Stoner Rock, Space Rock and Blues Rock surroundings are never too far behind. This record is one more of SONIC EXPLORATION and seeing Rainbow Bridge create a different style of music that maybe quite “ALIEN” to them at first without the vocal dynamics heard on previous records.

The sound has a relentless and freakish energy which sees Rainbow Bridge play Sixties Heavy Psychedelic beats against classic Nineties Desert/Stoner Rock passages. With a small reliance on distorted Prog Rock that can be quite DRONE based at times, there is a sense of wonder and adventure when the band play an unexpected style of Instrumental music that can be quite more “METALLIC” in places.

With a wide array of different Psych, Post-Rock and Prog Rock instrumental passages that can be quite laid back before the aggressive energy of Rainbow Bridge that usually takes complete control especially on tracks such as Gaba, Hugh The Cactus and Goats Everywhere allowing the first half of the record play out in exciting fashion.

The second half of Soundtrack Of A Silent Land continues to build on the exciting promise that Rainbow Bridge have masterfully delivered with more eerie Progressive leaning Psychedelic jams with some epic screeching guitars being played along the way. There are a lot more FREAK OUT moments on this record compared to other Instrumental Stoner Rock albums which allows an adventurous style of music to fully form and develop into high levels of deafening passages.

Standout tracks from the second half of the album are Sunrise Moon and A Loving Son which retains a sense of urgency for Rainbow Bridge to get straight down to business in playing the heaviest, freshest and highly original musical passages contained on the whole album. The mood can be quiet, sullen, moody, heavy and aggressive on different stages of the whole record.

Soundtrack Of A Silent Land is an absolute joy to fully experience with the raw sounding production values adding a dynamic GARAGE ROCK or GENERATOR PARTY energy to the whole record. Rainbow Bridge have been going as a band since 2006 but they’ve really started to find their own unique voice on their last couple of records and prove why they’re another excellent band to check out from the Italian Heavy Rock scene.

This is a superbly entertaining record which takes a lot of BOLD creative choices and becomes an even better record for it when everything is said and done.

Excellent and Highly Recommended.
