Your favorite weed sludgers are ready to come back with their fourth studio album, the aptly titled "Stoned Villains," out in April on your beloved Heavy Psych Sounds Records. The band's distinctive sound emerges immediately after the first listen: seven tracks of heavy, sulfurous doom-sludge, with influences ranging from the '90s to Turin-inspired hardcore punk, the scene in which our "villains" were formed and raised. 

Heavy and cutting guitars, a seismic rhythm section, and Gingerzilla's voice barking out ungraceful tales of weed abuse and uncontrolled eating. The song titles perfectly describe Tons: a band that doesn't take itself too seriously and uses irony as its strong point. "Stoned Villains" was recorded and mixed in Turin by Danilo "Dano" Battocchio at Deepest Sea Studio and mastered by James Plotkin. Enjoy!

The Lowdown

Forged in 2009 by members of the Turin hardcore scene (The Redrum, Lama Tematica, NoInfo), TONS deliberately traded breakneck speed for a colossus-sized, slow-motion onslaught — sludgy-as-fuck, caustic and laced with wry weed wisdom and local esoteric mystique.

From their 2012 debut, Musineè Doom Session, Volume 1, to the punishing Filthy Flowers of Doom (2018) and the evil and acerbic Hashension (2022), TONS has never taken a single prisoner. The unstoppable foursome has shared stages with iconic acts such as Bongzilla, Unsane, Napalm Death and Church Of Misery, and relentlessly stormed festivals across the continent (Desertfest, Sonic Blast, Frantic Fest, Venezia Hardcore, HPS Fest).

Blasting forth with a new player behind the kit, TONS is ready to crank it up to maximum sludge levels again with their fourth album Stoned Villains, due out in the spring of 2026 and followed by a promotional Japanese tour in May.

Exclusive Album Premiere Of Psych/Alt/Stoner Rockers KYOTE RADIO New Album HABITATS

Kyote Radio is a New Mexico based rock band with roots in the West Texas ghost town of Terlingua, a remote desert outpost where frontman Micah Paredes was born and raised before landing in Austin, where the band was founded in 2013. Paredes leads Kyote Radio on electric guitar and vocals, delivering sharp songwriting backed by a band that features collaborators Nick Smith, Wesley Riddle, Russ Connell, Nick Blossom and Ray Heilman - who anchor the band with a thundering rhythm section and provide listeners with a full dose of heavy riffs and fuzzy guitar solos.

Following the release of their 2018 debut EP, Mouth of the Cave, Kyote Radio teamed up with renowned Austin-based producer, Frenchie Smith, for their first full length LP, Real Crime which was released in 2021. The band has continued to release singles in the years since, including Habitats track “The Crown” featuring Kyle Shutt of The Sword, which was featured as Song of the Day on Austin's KUTX radio. In 2024 Kyote Radio shifted headquarters to Taos, NM where they are set to release their 2nd LP “Habitats” on February 13th, 2026.

The Lowdown

ABISSI formed in 2018 in Milan. The project was shaped by Francesco Menghi (former frontman of Veracrash), Luca Ibba (ex-ODE), and Agostino Marino (Little Pig). The lineup later welcomed bassist Alessandro Stranieri, whose new wave and goth background helped refine the group’s evolving identity. Their music, sung in Italian, blends psychedelic heavy rock with influences that move through stoner, doom, alternative, grunge, noise and new wave.

The band first introduced their world with the single Interzona in 2020. Their debut album, Oltre, followed in 2022. In 2025, ABISSI released the single Pizzo, offering the first glimpse into this new chapter. Now, with Madama Cristina, they open the gates wider, inviting listeners deeper into Paramagia.

Biography

Formed in 1986 under the sun of the Coachella Valley by guitarist Gary Arce, drummer Alfredo Hernandez, bassist Mario Lalli and second guitarist Larry Lalli, YAWNING MAN are considered the very founders of the desert rock movement, which was made popular by bands such as Kyuss or Queens of The Stone Age in the early 90s.

While their contemporaries gravitated toward the heavy riffs of grunge, and post-punk, YAWNING MAN leaned in another direction with their unique and organic, cinematic compositions and psychedelic improvisations: the perfect soundtrack to encompass the spacious moonscape atmosphere of the well-documented "generator parties" of their area in the late 1980s. It was at these gatherings that they developed this distinctive style and sound by enchanting spectators with their seemingly endless free-form instrumental sessions, which echoed through the beautiful deserts, mesas, and landscapes of the Coachella Valley.

As time passed, their legend grew with notable names of the Palm Desert music scene paying homage to the group through mention and praise, notably with legendary desert band Kyuss doing their own rendition of the Yawning Man track "Catamaran" on the 1995 Elektra release "...And The Circus Leaves Town". Festival appearances include Hellfest (FR), Azkena Fest (ES), Reverence Fest (ES), Desertfest London and Berlin, Up in Smoke (CH), Psycho Las Vegas (US), Stoned & Dusted I & II (US), Monolith on the Mesa (US), and various others. The recent documentaries on the desert's unique music scene "Lo Sound Desert" and "Desert Age" give light on YAWNING MAN’s influential impact on underground rock music.

MoldEra is a symbiotic organism born in 2018 in the post-industrial wastelands of Liège, Belgium, formed by four anthropomorphic mold spores with a mutual fascination for deep, slow, and hypnotic heavy sounds. Album Premiere Of Progressive Doom/Post-Metallers BEWARE OF GODS Epic New Album: Upon Whom The Last Light Descends II : Amnesia Island.

While founding member, principal composer, Jason O’Donnell aka The Archetype is steeped in an affinity for & consciousness of the Proto Doom Metal tradition, there is way more going on in his compositions & productions than what can be easily placed into one box/genre. That awareness shifts my attention to The Archetype’s at times, hauntingly pained melodic voice juxtaposed against ‘blackened’ discordant whispered screams or guttural growls that tip the hat to Chris Cornell, Chino Moreno or Thou as much as perhaps Ozzy Osbourne. 

In terms of ambient soundscapes, there are also stellar initial stabs at sound design work on PT I that bring to mind Skinny Puppy or even NIN. From here, my journey into the B. O. G. gets really interesting because the addition of Sound Design veteran Feederwire & Engineer/Producer Pete Grossmann (Gates To Hell, Warforged, Weekend Nachos, Frail Body, Scientist, Huntsmen) of Bricktop Recording is already bringing the concept into even more focus & catapulting it into what The Archetype references in the intro ‘Concussion Dream’ as ‘Amnesia Island’ : “A post apocalyptic glitchy outpost floating in a bio mechanical ocean that is appearing to lead us along, with it’s protagonist/hero I Nomad, into an even deeper hybrid of analog & digital sounds that provide the landscape for a cast of broken antagonists trapped...

Spanish fuzz rockers GREENGOAT return with Aloft, their highly anticipated second studio album, inspired by the groundbreaking studies of Harvard psychiatrist Dr. John Mack on alien abductions.
