Review

Sludge/Drone/Doom Duo The Fibre self-titled debut album is powered by a Drum/Bass setup with the band adding layers of Psychedelic energy with a foreboding Synth structure which gives their music quite a gloomy and claustrophobic feel. The album runs for around thirty minutes with The Fibre mostly play a lo-fi and raw sounding LOW & SLOW style of music with lots fucked and seedy down-tuned energy which should appeal to fans of SLEEP, Electric Wizard and CONAN.

The record isn’t the best produced but The Fibre live upto to their underground ambitions with a collection of superb tracks that have a menacing approach thanks to Jeb and William’s vocals that range from harsh growls and grizzled clean vocals. Jeb provides a punishing bass guitar rhythm that gets right down to play some seedy grooves and extended jams with William providing some epic and evil menacing drums throughout.

The Fibre impress mostly on the more riff-centric parts of the album which allows their music to be quite LOW & SLOW obsessed and injecting a SEEDY FUZZ and INDUSTRIAL vibe into the mix on tracks such as The Haunt, The Scar, The Curse and Night Falls Fast. You also have to give the band credit by adding moments of Classic Hard Rock, Thrash and even Blues Rock into their album whilst retaining their heavy Psychedelic and down-tuned instrumental passages from start to finish.

This debut album builds upon the sludgy downbeat surroundings of their previous EP’s but adds a more menacing and sinister vibe that allows The Fibre to become a more interesting band with many cool sounding ideas of their own making. If you want something LO-FI and packed with VIOLENT Sludge/Doom based energy then The Fibre is the band for you.

More please….

Excellent and Highly Recommended.
