Review

DEATH WVRM are a Psych/Stoner/Fuzz/Alt Rock collective from The Northern Parts of The United Kingdom. The band have just released their third single Reflections and I can see why the band have been compared to heavyweights such as SLIFT, ELDER and King Gizzard. Speaking of ELDER, the band have managed to persuade ELDER’s very own Nick DiSalvo to appear on this track providing additional echoes. That’s quite impressive for a band for only releasing three tracks to date though their latest offering Reflections has a lot of things in common with ELDER.

DEATH WVRM play a similar style of Progressive Doom based melody that ELDER are ultimately known for with a level of deft heaviness that spins into multiple areas of Progressive and Psychedelic Fuzzy heaviness. The sound can also be quite JAZZY in places with a twinge of Heavy Space Rock that allows the band’s Fuzzed Up tone to be quite eclectic and downright authentic at the same time.

It’s a shame this track is only on for six minutes as I could have listened to this type of music for so much longer. The song does feel short in places but this allows DEATH WVRM to impress whoever listens to this track throughout and perhaps demand a more substantial release (such as an EP) sooner rather than later.

I would keep an eye on DEATH WVRM as I have a feeling they could be the next “BIG THING” from the UK Stoner Rock scene.
