The band has Erik joining up with iconic punk artist, Brian Walsby (Snake Nation, Double Negative) and Mike Deloatch (Crystal Spiders.)

Norway-based Psychedelic Doom Specialists SUPERLYNX Sign To ARGONAUTA Records; New Album Out In Autumn

Superlynx is a three piece band from Oslo, Norway formed in 2013. The band exceeds genres with their distinct sound and melts heavy psychedelic rock, doom, meditative atmospheres and droning riffs together. After releasing their third album Electric Temple and Solstice EP and playing some great gigs and festivals in 2021, the band went back in the studio and are now ready with their fourth full length album.

This coming release also sees Superlynx moving on from the Norwegian label Dark Essence to Italian label Argonauta Records. All of Superlynx ́s releases have received wonderful reviews and ended up on many best of the year lists. They have been known to write songs that are dealing with heavy personal emotions but always turned towards light, love, nature and the magic joy of music itself.

Superlynx loves playing live and have developed a reputation as a great live band delivering powerful and atmospheric shows. Through their gigs around Norway and abroad the band has made their mark as a heavy and hypnotic live band with sincere, intense and explosive expressions. Superlynx have played festivals like Høstsabbat, Hellbotn, Inferno Festival, Midgardsblot, Pstereo, Musikkfest Oslo, 360 Festival, Oslo Beikmørke etc. The trio have also shared stages with bands like Weedeater, Sabbath Assembly, Gold, Chrch, Fister, The Wounded Kings, Grave Pleasures, Virus, Sâver, Order, The Moth, Funeral, Narcosatanicos and many more.

In 2023 Superlynx will celebrate their 10th anniversary as a band with releasing new music, a new additional live member and returning to the stage.

Spikerot Records is extremely stoked to announce the signing of BOTTOMLESS, the brand new project formed by Giorgio Trombino and David Lucido, respectively guitar/vocals and drums (together in Assumption, Undead Creep, Haemophagus, Morbo and others) and by Sara Bianchin (Messa, Restos Humanos) on bass.

HEAVY TEMPLE Sign To Magnetic Eye Records

HEAVY TEMPLE have penned a deal with Magnetic Eye Records, becoming the label's first signing of 2021 (but not its last). This well-oiled riff machine will proudly present a heavy psychedelic expedition that seamlessly weaves from boogie van grooves to the gravitas of Candlemass in the shape of their debut album via Magnetic Eye Records this year.

HEAVY TEMPLE comment: "We're beyond thrilled to be joining the Magnetic Eye family, along with so many talented friends and musicians", writes singer and bass player High Priestess Nighthawk. "We can hardly wait to put out our first full album with Magnetic Eye, and we think it's our best music yet. Looking forward to sharing something with everyone this year!"

HEAVY TEMPLE formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA in 2012 and quickly released a pair of critically-acclaimed EPs that presented a mature blend of fuzzy grooves, doom, and heavy psychedelia with occult motifs as well as a tongue-in-cheek sense of humour.

The band quickly made waves throughout the heavy rock underground during their first several years of activity, galvanizing their brain-melting attack over the course of numerous tours with the likes of CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, RUBY THE HATCHET, MOTHERSHIP, and ROYAL THUNDER among many others. Before HEAVY TEMPLE even released an album, the band had already performed at prestigious festivals including Psycho Las Vegas, Black Flags Over Brooklyn, DesertFest New York, The Obelisk All-Dayer, Maryland Doom Fest, and Decibel Metal and Beer.

Fusing their strongest line-up into place just ahead of the coronavirus pandemic, HEAVY TEMPLE took advantage of the forced layoff from touring to craft their cosmic heaviness into a first official full-length, which is due in 2021 via Magnetic Eye Records.

PSYHOES Announce Debut EP - Typhoon Trip - To Be Released By Piranha Music

A new Warsaw-based band, PSYHOES, have just announced their debut EP! "Typhoon Trip" will be released December 18th by Piranha Music, an independent Polish label (home of, e.g. Hydra, Mag and Bantha Rider).

"Typhoon Trip" consists of 4 tracks (almost 30 minutes) of fuzzy stoner rock with a touch of Elder / Rush-inspired progressive rock and a little bit of psychedelia, all served in the vein of the desert-school of groovy rock&roll.

Just Music South Africa’s leading independent music company, is proud to announce Mongrel Records, a new label imprint that will focus on pushing heavier rock and metal artists from around Africa to the international market. This new venture will benefit from the full spectrum of Just Music’s successful artist and label services, whilst retaining an independent A&R and artist development profile.

Just Music has appointed Warren Gibson to the newly created position of Label Manager for Mongrel Records. Gibson has been involved in the South African music industry for over 20 years as a leading publicist for local artists. He has been closely associated with the development of the metal and heavy rock scene in South Africa, as well as media liaison and touring for a number of international artists and indie labels. Gibson will continue to serve as Managing Director of his independent Plug Music Agency.

“It’s been a longtime dream of mine to have a label that can give the heavier South African and African bands the help and attention they need and deserve. We’ve got some world class bands, and now with involvement and backing of Just Music I finally feel we have a platform to do this properly” comments Warren Gibson.

Charles Kühn, Just Music CEO adds, “The quality of metal and heavy rock bands in South Africa is stronger than ever, yet most of these artists have enjoyed little or no support from labels. Their new album is set for release through Mongrel Records mid-2020.

Giganto Records Launches with Scuzzball Debut EP

Glanville rhythm guitar player Chris West announces Giganto Records, a new record label to serve as a platform for various and varied music projects written and recorded by himself. Releases will be less on the traditional side of 45 minute albums and will instead focus on letting each piece be what it needs to be. Whether it's one minute songs or twenty minute jams the music will be in pursuit, as always, of heavy. Whatever that may be.

Straight out of the gate from Giganto Records comes the particularly short and intense Reality’s Flux, an EP under the name Scuzzball. Featuring Mithun Shah (Sedulus) on drums, Jill Mikkelson (Dysteria) on vocals and West on guitar and bass, Reality's Flux consists of four small slices of sludge that waste no time in making their brief and fierce point. Mikkelson’s lyrical themes cover plate tectonics, the physics of consciousness and theories of the origins of life on Earth which provided the inspiration for West to draw an animation for the song Rudimentary Beasts.

Chris West commented on the making of the animation:

"As soon as I read the lyrics I knew I had to make a video. The style of the animation was inspired by my lack of ability to draw freehand and memories of my brother sketching out sprites on graph paper before programming them on our ZX Spectrum. I thought of it as a super low resolution screen and spent 3 months over the summer colouring in squares on graph paper with ballpoint pens. As laborious (and cramp-inducing) as it was at times, especially re-drawing the first third after realising I'd rushed it, I enjoyed the process and it became like a daily meditation. Hopefully the animation does justice to Jill's lyrics."

Label News - SEEING RED RECORDS SIGN SWEDISH DOOM METALLERS SHADOWMASTER

Seeing Red Records have signed Swedish Doom Metallers SHADOWMASTER to their roster.

Originally releasing a demo in 2015 under the guise, Desert Crone, the band recorded a full length in 2016 and decided to change their name to Shadowmaster before self-releasing the album digitallty in August of this year. We were fortunate to sign the band and decided to press a physical release in the form of a Cd digipack that will be out December 22! PRE-ORDER

Somehow completely overlooked by labels, press, and fans in general.

Shadowmaster have crafted a completely devastating offering that demands your attention immediately upon listening. Cited by renown artist, Stephen Kasner (Sunn 0)), Khanate, Rotting Christ) as one of his favorite new acts, the bands imagery is just as gripping as their music. There is not much more I can say as the music speaks for itself.

Dreamtoned trio from Ukraine, Somali Yacht Club are going to release their second full-length album “The Sea” on Robustfellow Prods. (CDs and limited editions) and Kozmik Artifactz (vinyls). After their first LP “The Sun”, which was highly acclaimed both by critics and listeners worldwide and showed the band’s ability to mix styles, create dreamy vibe and submerge listeners into fantastic sound landscapes, the band is ready to continue their musical journey with their next album “The Sea”. 

All artwork for this release were made by fantastic artist - Dasha Pliska.

Rich fuzz, blended with atmospheric psychedelia, warm grooves and airy leads show the band’s progression both musically and lyrically and once again prove Somali Yacht Club’s inventiveness in blending styles.
