New Jersey Heavy Rockers EGO PLANET Reveals Full Album Details And New Single “Butcher’s Blade” Now Streaming

After their recent signing with Italian label ARGONAUTA Records, US-based Heavy Rockers EGO PLANET released their impressive first single THE CALL, “the first Ego Planet song we finished writing back in 2020 as a pandemic ravaged the globe, protesters took to the streets to demand racial justice, and billionaires hoarded record amounts of wealth.” Says Jarrett (Vocalist/Lyricist) “I was being forced to face ugly truths on a daily basis and it was extremely uncomfortable. I found myself at times wanting to completely disengage from political issues and recede into my own world of comforting distractions. The song is about the allure of complacency and what it means to turn a blind eye while others fight for their right to exist.

The official lyrics video is available below:

Today the band is excited to reveal full album details of their anticipated self-titled debut, which contains eight pummelling Hard Heavy Rock hymns made of intense vocals, massive riffs and resonant atmospheres, taking ispiration from the cosmic horror and psychedelic imagery.

The epic new single “Butcher’s Blade” is now streaming on all digital platforms: https://ingrv.es/butcher-s-blade-sh4-d

Doom metal godfathers THE OBSESSED sign to Ripple Music for their new studio album release in 2023!

Californian heavy rock and metal powerhouse Ripple Music is proud to welcome iconic doom metal veterans THE OBSESSED to its ever-expanding roster for the release of the band's awaited fifth studio album in 2023!

Led by legendary frontman Scott "Wino" Weinrich, a heavy music lifer admired and acclaimed by the likes of Dave Grohl, Pepper Keenan, Henry Rollins and Phil Anselmo, Maryland-based doom godfathers THE OBSESSED just inked a deal with Californian powerhouse Ripple Music for the release of their fifth studio album and eagerly anticipated follow-up to 2017's "Sacred".

About joining Ripple Music, the band says: "The Obsessed are really happy to be signing with Ripple Music and joining the great bands on their roster. We have already begun recording and we're looking to be finished in January. Thanks to Todd and everyone at Ripple for this opportunity and we look forward to working with them on this release."

Ripple Music founder Todd Severin adds: "Having had the honor of working with the legendary Wino on his solo album, you can only imagine how thrilled I was when he came to me with the idea of a new album by The Obsessed. The band are doom legends, having contributed mightily to the doom template that we all love today. Can't wait to unleash this album upon the world."

Ripple Music will soon unveil more details about The Obsessed new album, stay tuned!

THE OBSESSED was formed in the late 1970s in Potomac, Maryland by legendary guitarist Scott “Wino” Weinrich (Saint Vitus, Spirit Caravan). The band spawned in the realm of musicians/artists such as Black Sabbath, Frank Zappa, The Dictators, and The Stooges. The earliest lineup consisted of Wino, bassist Mark Laue, guitarist John Reese, and drummer Dave Flood. In 1983, Wino took over vocal duties and the band became a three-piece to record the Sodden Jackal EP.

The band broke up in the late ’80s after Wino moved to California to join Saint Vitus. At that time, a German label, Hellhound Records, and the booking agency that had signed Saint Vitus, released The Obsessed, originally recorded in 1985, prompting Wino to reform THE OBSESSED. After multiple lineup changes, the band signed to Columbia Records in 1994 to release their third and final album, The Church Within. Despite highly acclaimed reviews, THE OBSESSED would breakup following the release, seeing Wino forming Spirit Caravan (then Shine) and other projects.

In September 2011, THE OBSESSED returned to the stage at Roadburn Festival with The Church Within‘s legendary lineup (featuring Wino, Greg Rogers, and Guy Pinhas). The band played a few more reunion shows over the next couple years at Hellfest Open Air 2012 and Maryland Deathfest XI in May 2013 with bassist Reid Raley.

Wino announced the full-time return of THE OBSESSED in March 2016 and the band’s official signing to Relapse Records to record the follow up to The Church Within. The new lineup originally consisted of Spirit Caravan bassist Dave Sherman and Wino’s longtime friend and former road crew member Brian Costantino (drums). On October 31st, 2016, Wino announced another new lineup change for THE OBSESSED, including Bruce Falkinburg (bass) and Seraphim (guitar), making that the first time the band had been a four piece in over thirty-five years.

In 2017, THE OBSESSED unleashed Sacred, the band’s first studio album in over twenty years, further pushing the band into the annals of heavy metal history. After a few years on the road, the lineup stabilizes around Brian Costantino on drums, Chris Angleberger on bass, Jason Taylor on guitar, and of course, Wino at the helm.

THE OBSESSED line-up:

Chris Angleberger - bass
Jason Taylor - guitar
Brian Costantino - drums
Scott "Wino" Weinrich - guitar and vocals

Heavy Psych Sounds Records & Booking is really proud to present a new band signing with SOMNUS THRONE

Heavy Psych Sounds Records & Booking is really proud to present a new band signing with SOMNUS THRONE

SOMNUS THRONE is Heavy Psych Doom from California -

We are so stoked to announce that the heavy psych doom riffers Somnus Throne has signed a worldwide deal with Heavy Psych Sounds for their new album !!!

PRESALE + first track premiere from APRIL 6th

SAYS THE BAND:

"Heavy Psych Sounds was our first choice. They're doing so much all over right now, it's huge. We mostly sent it to them as a joke but I guess the riff gods were looking down on us or something because they got back to us quick and we're stoked to hear that! The doom must flow."

BIOGRAPHY

Somnus Throne is a three-piece formed way back in 2016 in a cacophony of underground heavy music shows, leaking warehouse ceilings, and perpetual sedation of one kind or another. While their members have haunted many a '5 dollar-at-the-door, Monday through Friday no rent crash-pad, repurposed crack-house turned venues' from New Orleans to Portland, they are based in Los Angeles, California. They mostly flew under the radar until the release of their first album "Self Titled" on Burning World Records (of Roadburn Festival fame) in 2020.

Their current roster boasts one Matt Davis on drums, Ansel Bretz on bass, and Evan on guitar/vox. Various music critics who each can't seem to understand their origins at least agree that Somnus Throne is a 3-piece band that plays doom, heavy psych, stoner and grunge akin to Dead Meadow, Acid King, Electric Wizard, Sleep, Black Rainbows, OM, Dopelord and Vokonis with a healthy dose of Black Sabbath (as always).

SOMNUS THRONE is

Evan – vocals/guitars
Ansel Bretz – bass
Matt Davis – drums

GREENLEAF sign with Magnetic Eye Records

GREENLEAF have inked a deal with Magnetic Eye Records. The veteran desert rockers will finally be returning to detonate stages around Europe this year, and have already started to gather hot ideas for their next full-length to be released via the label.

GREENLEAF comment: "Signing a new record deal with Magnetic Eye was a pretty easy decision for us", writes vocalist Arvid Hällagård, who can be seen while signing the contract together with his band mates below. "We already knew them to be good people who do this for the love of heavy music, which is exactly the only kind of people that we want to work with. With them by our side, we feel that we can continue to do what we do in harmony with our label. This is something you won't find every day."

Jadd Shickler welcomes GREENLEAF: "I almost don't know where to begin in expressing my incredible pleasure at this signing", tells the Magnetic Eye director. "I've known guitarist and founder Tommi for more than 20 years, and I've been a fan of every band and project he's been part of. Yes, I liked GREENLEAF when they were his low-pressure side project, but when they transformed into a proper band with the 'Trails and Passes' album, it was a 'holy crap' moment, because they instantly became one of my absolute favorite heavy rock outfits on earth, and have remained so ever since. Saying how pleased we are to welcome GREENLEAF to the Magnetic Eye roster is a supreme understatement!"

GREENLEAF have already announced a set of live dates in Europe including Hellfest. Please see below for a list of currently confirmed shows.

Hard rock afficionados GREENLEAF were initially formed as an informal project by friends that were already playing in a number of other bands including DOZER, LOWRIDER, and DEMON CLEANER. The Swedes simply wanted to have an outlet for their mutual love of '70s-era hard rock and proto-metal while being free from the expectations and pressures that were hanging over their main bands.

Despite all their best intentions to have GREENLEAF just for fun, their undiluted joy of creating catchy songs led to everyone telling them to record their material. This led eventually to the release of a self-titled debut EP in 2000, which was quickly followed by their debut full-length "Revolution Rock" only a year later.

With guitarist and sole remaining founding-member Tommi Holappa firmly at the helm, the sound of GREENLEAF has remained remarkably consistent throughout the releases that followed, even though the band experienced several personnel changes over the years. Inspired by their growing popularity and the success of "Secret Alphabets" (2003) and "Agents of Ahriman" (2007), they decided to shift gears in 2010 and transformed from "the side project that refused to die" into a full-time band with the release of their fourth album, 2012's "Nest of Vipers".

Having turned from an on and off fling to a full-time love affair, the years of rotating line-ups were over, and GREENLEAF's newfound focus and stability was crowned by their fifth album "Trails & Passes" (2014), which also featured new permanent vocalist Arvid Hällagård. Their next two full-lengths, 2016's "Rise Above the Meadow" and 2018's "Hear the Rivers", won the band prime performing slots on European festival stages, while "Echoes from a Mass" (2021) reached the global streaming and European album charts – reflecting the quartet's ever-growing popularity.

Weaving together psychedelia, hard rock, and metallic blues in a warm, serpentine mélange that leaves behind none of the punishing immediacy of their earlier recordings, today's GREENLEAF merge road-tested tightness, swirling guitar-driven soundscapes, and captivating blues-laden vocals into one of the most reliably mesmerizing acts pushing the sonic horizons of desert rock to new frontiers.

RESTLESS SPIRIT sign with Magnetic Eye Records

RESTLESS SPIRIT have signed a deal with Magnetic Eye Records, joining the label as its first and hottest signing of the year. The driving sludge-prog trio from New York join Magnetic Eye on the heels of self-releasing their acclaimed second album "Blood of the Old Gods" in late 2021, and are already at work on new material for the label, as well as a preparing for a worldwide reissue of their latest offering.

RESTLESS SPIRIT comment: "When we started Restless Spirit, we decided that we were not going to compromise", writes guitarist and vocalist Paul Aloisio. "We would do things our way and follow our vision completely on our own until we found our match in a label that we truly feel understands us. We are happy to announce that we have found exactly that in Magnetic Eye Records. We appreciate the laser focus they have for finding original and eclectic artists, and we feel honored to now be counted among them. As for the first order of business, they will be releasing our latest album "Blood of the Old Gods" worldwide, giving it the treatment that we believe it deserves. We are immensely thankful to Jadd and Magnetic Eye for seeing the potential in this album and taking us on. Writing has already started on the next record that we will be releasing through the label, and we are determined to make it even heavier and more exciting than anything that we have done thus far. Our vision is as focused as ever, so get ready!"

Jadd Shickler welcomes RESTLESS SPIRIT: "This label was founded and built into what it is today in New York, and there’s a vibe to Restless Spirit that grabbed us immediately", tells the Magnetic Eye director. "Besides writing songs with massive hooks and tons of energy, these guys are driven and capable as hell, and nothing gets a label more interested than a band who hardly seems to need a label.  These guys have been making serious headway on their own, from putting out killer music to getting out on tour, and we can hardly wait to see what they do when we put the weight of our experience and resources behind their single-minded focus. We are immensely pleased to welcome RESTLESS SPIRIT to our roster!"

Magnetic Eye will reissue RESTLESS SPIRIT's latest album "Blood of the Old Gods" in new CD and vinyl editions later in 2022, giving the impressive release worldwide distribution for the first time. Listen to "Blood of the Old Gods" in full at this linkhttps://youtu.be/a6BVd8ZQlec

Although RESTLESS SPIRT have only been active since 2018, the trio from Long Island, New York count already two full-length and four EPs under their belt. Despite naming influences as wide as BLACK SABBATH, TYPE O NEGATIVE, and THE SWORD, the band has clearly carved their very own path through the US underground metal scene. Their ferocious riffs firmly set their hooks into the listeners' ears. RESTLESS SPIRT fit seamlessly within the stoner doom scene, yet the trio trade a strict diet of fuzz for a more varied, melodic approach.

Their latest album, "Blood of the Old Gods" finds RESTLESS SPIRT experimenting by adding a cohesive narrative throughout its 39 minutes of pounding heaviness. Featuring brooding artwork from famed pulp-painter Frank Frazetta, "Blood of the Old Gods” weaves together grandiose sonic landscapes and haunting moment that leave an lasting impression, and which earned the band top honours on the Doom Charts with a #1 ranking in December of 2021.

Currently, RESTLESS SPIRT are preparing to finally start touring in support of “Blood of the Old Gods” this spring. The album will be reissued later this year. The band is also working hard on their third full-length, which will be released worldwide via Magnetic Eye Records.

Swedish Heavy Rock Trio WOODEN FIELDS Signs To Argonauta Records!

Swedish Heavy Rock Trio WOODEN FIELDS (feat. members of WITCHCRAFT, ANGEL WITCH, SIENA ROOT, THREE SEASONS & more) Signs To Argonauta Records!

It looks like Sweden has a new "super- group“ to offer, one that will most likely make every heavy and hard rock heart beat faster! WOODEN FIELDS, the new collective featuring vocalist and guitarist Sartez Faraj (Three Seasons, Mouth Of Clay), Siena Root- bassist Sam Riffer and Fredrik Jansson Punkka (Witchcraft, Angel Witch & more ) on the drums, has inked a worldwide record deal with Italy’s powerhouse label Argonauta Records!

Fuzzy riffs and piercing guitar sounds, big grooves and soulful, characteristic vocals, allow WOODEN FIELDS to take you on a ride between 70’s vintage spheres and heavy yet catchy, modern rock anthems. The impressive history and background of all band members may prove they are no strangers to the heavy music scene, and it won’t take long to see WOODEN FIELDS step up as one of Sweden’s best up&coming "newcomer" project, while not relying on their previous bands' success and instead showcasing a tireless hunger and passion for pure heavy rock sounds and a hopefully busy touring schedule in the not so distant future. The trio is currently hard at work on their upcoming debut album, which will be seeing the light of day on Argonauta Records during 2021. Check out a first sneak peak with a just released studio teaser HERE!

Label owner, Gero Lucisano, comments:

"Fair enough I'm used to carefully check and listen all material I receive, via email or post. And since this new band Wooden Fields got continuous listenings in our headquarter, I took the decision to write them back immediatly, when it turned out they were a trio formed by ANGEL WITCH, SIENA ROOT and THREE SEASONS members! I have been blown away! An impressive genuine sound with a lot of '70 influences. Very much stoked to deal with the guys since the very first minute, not to mention I'm beyond pleased the band got in touch with Argonauta to release this beast. The album literally crushes, and I can't wait to share these impressive tunes with you all!"

"Wooden Fields are very happy to announce that we have signed with Argonauta Records for the release of our self-titled debut album!" The band comments. "We are looking forward to be working together and to have the record out soon for you all to enjoy!"
