The music video pays homage to B-movie horror stories from the seventies, featuring ­captivating dance sequences and a gripping storyline. ­Directed by filmmaker Emil Dorbell and penned by Nepal Death's frontman, Anders Hallberg, the video was shot on location in an old strippers' joint featuring real actors and a horde of evil groovy cultists. The song is a pulsating empowering psychedelic rock anthem ­aiming for cosmic dancefloors in all dimensions. Like a ­marriage of the vibes from The Rolling Stones' 'Gimme ­Shelter,' and the aura of up tempo The Soundtrack of Our Lives. The track encapsulates the essence of the early trippy seventies, featuring psych guitars, backward sitars, infectious bass lines and a rhythmic drum groove... All interwoven with massive organ and magical flute melodies.

Nepal Death is like a transcendent 1972 VW bus voyage along The Hippie Trail. This Swedish musical collective is painting a vibrant auditory tapestry reminiscent of the era of free love, all set against the mysterious backdrop of death goddess Kali Ma. Their music beckons listeners to ­c­ontemplate the metamorphosis (or end) that await them beyond the ultimate destination of Kathmandu.

Review:

Chaos And The Art Of Motorcycle Madness (CATAOFMM) is the new album from Instrumental Doom/Stoner/Sleaze Rockers The Death Wheelers who have aligned themselves to famed record label RidingEasy Records for this their third album. CATAOFMM is a leaner, meaner and sleazier offering with The Death Wheelers fully hitting their Outlaw Creative persona with absolute relish. The music is quite subtle with a menacing Psychedelic Freakout element to their sound starting to fully take over. Things can be quite FUNK driven in places but the music is constantly engaging even with the Blues Rock flow of the Doomed Out aspect of the album that appears very early on within the opening songs of The Scum Always Rises To The Top and Morbid Rails. 

Taking creative cues from bands such as Clutch, Black Sabbath and Church Of Misery on this album whilst allowing The Death Wheelers every opportunity to take their music into and exciting and different direction with the more Psychedelic Doom aspect of their sound being the main force where the heavy grooves appear. There's a killer Seventies Hard Rock approach which allows The Death Wheelers to play a more hardened style of Street Doom, Punk Rock and Stoner Metal with a flawless Proto-Metal attitude. The Death Wheelers have fun with their music especially on the long drawn out instrumental jams that showcases other areas of Hard Rock into the mix. Check out the Surf Rock soundings of the excellent third track Les Mufflers Du Mal.

A song that brings a ferocious Blues Rock attitude with a "no-good-for-nothing" outlaw style of Speed Rock/Metal that moves eerily along the Hard Rock attitudes of the last sixty years of Heavy Music. 

Fourth song Ride Into The Rot (Everything Lewder Than Everything Else) is the epitome of what The Death Wheelers actually play best. Rebellious Doom/Stoner Metal with a thrilling Slzy Outlaw sound that turns into a twisted style of Psychedelic vivid imagery with mighty slabs of Guitar Amp and Reverb feedback for some of the heaviest sounds of the album.

Fifth song Triple D (Dead, Drunk and Depraved) follows the same destructive path as the previous song but one that opens with a landmark and classic soundclip that gives extra weight to The Death Wheelers rebellious style of music. That surreal Surf Rock element returns which gives this track a more hallucinogenic and gonzo feel. Though, the band still plays a non-stop blast of intense and distorted extended jams.

Sixth song Lucifer's Bend is perhaps the freakiest and outlandish track on the album with The Death Wheelers fully exploring that Occult Doom aspect of the album. The song starts off slowly before exploding into a Surf Rock inspired Doom/Stoner Metal style groove. with an intense Occult Rock soundbyte being added to the mix. The music becomes slightly more despairing and some say quite "LEWD" but all done in the best demonic tastes possible. Perhaps my favourite track on the album.

With the rules of the game firmly laid down by The Death Wheelers on the first half of the album, the second half sees the band bring more sinister themes, sounds, grooves, jams and ideas to the album with the superb song titles showing the listener what type of song is on their way. There's perhaps a more reliance on soundclips and soundbytes on this part of the album, however the ideas are super fresh and wonderfully surreal. There's a more experimental and jam-based quality coming through the songs especially on Brain Bucket, Open Road X Open Casket and Interquaalude. 

Though the final two tracks of Sissy Bar Strut (Nymphony 69) and Cycling For Satan offer the trippiest and gloomiest parts of the record that left me wanting to hear more. 

The Death Wheelers always offer a fresh and different sound within the Instrumental Doom/Stoner Rock scene on this release. The album is never boring and this helps the band deliver perhaps their most fun and demonic record to date. The production values are excellent and have an intense "Garage Rock" vibe to them which helps The Death Wheelers deliver their addictive blend of trippy and doomed out grooves to a dramatic conclusion when everything is said and done. 

Chaos And The Art Of Motorcycle Madness is perhaps everything you want to hear from an album such as this. The Death Wheelers put out all the stops in releasing one of the most demented and supremely entertaining Instrumental Rock/Metal albums of the year.

Review

Bear Chest are a Stoner Rock Band from the UK who bring an extra layer of Sleaze to their music. Hence the name of the album. However, that’s not exactly what this album is really about. This is straight-forward Stoner Rock with a heavy reliance on Psychedelic Rock and Spaced Out vibes for quite an adventurous record. The album is never going to be considered groundbreaking but it does see Bear Chest take a lot of creative chances by using a lot of different styles of music to add to their overall Stoner Rock sound.

Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Grunge and even flashes of Alternative Rock combine for HUGE GROOVES and LOUD MELODIC RIfFS. The vocals are stuck in a permanent timewarp of 70s Hard Rock to 90s Alt Rock/Grunge with a distinctive Desert/Stoner Rock flavour to them.

The music is always allowing Bear Chest to have a great time. I cannot really compare Bear Chest to anyone currently around but these guys wouldn’t be out of place being signed to labels such as Ripple Music. As they play the kind of Stoner Rock sound that Ripple Music excel at.

There is an abundance of great songs for Bear Chest to impress listeners with such as Holy Roller, I Know You Hear It, Swinger, Snake Breath, Red Cavern and Bleeding Through The Eyes.

These are the songs where I feel Bear Chest impressed the most with the distinctive style of Stoner Rock. The band is even too confident on some of these songs and that's good to hear. As the band brings a truly confident creative swagger to the whole album.

Overall, Sleaze is an album that is “ALL KILLER & NO FILLER”. 

Excellent and Highly Recommended.

Greetings all,

I first discovered Deathchant via one of my all the favorite indie metal and rock labels,King Volume Records. (Check them out, you will dig them) The band's self-titled debut was a blistering batch of doom rock loaded with tons of attitude. It's no surprise that California's supreme RidingEasy Records snagged these guys for their killer sophomore release, Waste.

The band's sound while familiar is uniquely their own. A combination of old school metal and rock with stoner rock and punk elements. I believe the boss man Steve mentioned Thin Lizzy in talking about the band and I wholeheartedly agree. The band takes Lizzy's groove, pushes the dual guitar drive to eleven, throws in some Motorhead spirit and whiplash speed with some living on the edge doom inflected lyrics. 

Waste is a ripper from beginning to end. It's a breakneck pace with no pause and these guys don't bat an eye. Rails opens the album with some feedback before kicking in with it's driving thump that lets you know what's in store for you on this wild ass ride. Black Dirt follows with a heavier dose of metal. Holy Roller gives you just a moment to catch your breath before the band kicks you in the teeth with nothing but riffs and power and a heavy ass chorus. Gallows has the most Lizzy feel to it. The dual guitar assault and rhythmic delivery are stellar. The title track follows. Waste brings that Motorhead spirit and crams it down your throat like a handful of pills and a fifth of jack. Plague is a doom laden blast of righteousness. It slows things down, relatively speaking, but crushes beyond belief. Maker closes the record with unrelenting speed and heaviness. The track shows the band doesn't need any lyrics to blow your mind.

If you aren't familiar with the awesomeness that is Riding Easy Records and King Volume Records. Along with the uncompromising brilliance and swagger that is Deathchant. Now is the time to get your ass acquainted. Take your medicine and strap yourself in. You won't know where you're going and you'll have no clue where you've been, but you'll know you were on one hell of a ride! Dig on this!

Review

New Jersey's Super Snake play an almighty mixture of riff fuelled psychedelic rock laden with hazy elements of shoegaze, noise, doom and stoner rock resulting in a beautiful melting pot of ideas, sounds and styles that really pays off. The band (formed by vocalist Jerry Jones of NJ powerhouses Trophy Scars) have created a sound that will consume you with its epic nature while retaining a catchy and accessible nature to it with songs that will be stuck in your head for an age.

The Super Snake experience starts on this album with the albums title track, a song on which a dreamlike feel encases your mind while the riffs on show will demolish it and this dynamic is one that the band focusses on throughout Leap Of Love, it's an intoxicating mixture that will capture your imagination thoroughly.

Lie4U carries on this sweeping start while Hot Pavement ups the energy with its confident swaggering sound with Jones powerful vocals taking centre stage on this brushing stomp. There are also sprawling songs on Leap Of Love, especially the expansive Spirit Cave, a song that takes in many twists and turns and is never anything other than fully immersive in its scope and execution and the differences in sounds all come together magnificently.

Lavish Sum Of Dread is an apt title and the song sounds exactly like its intention in sonic form while songs like Sister Margaret, Too Late Who Cares and Get Lost, Be Mine are strutting anthems that sound like focussed jams that Kyuss would have been proud of. Even the more understated and mellow songs in the album like Cecilia evoke a passionate reaction from the band. The album ends with the urgent vibrancy of the huge sounding Big Seize and as the anthemic and dreamlike Take My Breath finishes things off, you are left under no illusion that you have just been listening to sheer brilliance.

One thing that strikes you more and more when listening to the album is the bands majestic use of keyboards which enhances the sound even more (especially on Spirit Cave) and makes the psychedelic elements really stand out and take centre stage, something the noise rock element does as well, in fact the whole melding of everything sounds immense and makes the music of Super Snake as special as it is . The production on the album (by the band along with Dillinger Escape Plan's Kevin Antressian) is superb and the songs explode out of the speakers with a vibrant lust for life.

This is a collection of epic songs that owe as much to bands like Swans, My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive as it does to Sabbath and the Melvins and if you throw in the Stooges, the Thirteenth Floor Elevators, Monster Magnet and Butthole Surfers too, you can get a pretty good idea of what Leap Of Love sounds like, and above all it sounds absolutely amazing. Super Snake have crafted a genuinely impressive and vibrant album in Leap Of Love, one that is a joy to listen to and will be for so long to come.

UK Blues/Sleaze/Hard Rockers – Black Cat Bones – debut EP – Down To The River is a change of pace from the usual stuff we review here at the blog. This is a sleazy/hard rock kind of sound. The 5 track EP is packed full of grooves and will appeal to fans of the classic 80's Hard Rock scene.

Opening track – Seen Better Days – has a soulful groove that The Answer would be proud to call their own with a huge dash of “HAIR METAL” riffage. Lead vocalist Jonnie has a blues rock orientated sound but he's backed up by almost the full band on backing vocals. The riffs come thick and fast with Black Cat Bones impressing from the start.

Second track – Lust – is a dirty blues rock number with some the lyrics taking a more sleazy turn compared to the opening track. This is perhaps the standout track on the EP. Heavy based guitars spliced with the classic Sunset Strip sound which comes at you with expert delivery.

Third track – Give You The World – was a major surprise as the band have written a track with a political and social message. Dennis Skinner (best do some research on the internet folks. UK Politician) soundclip open the song with the soon returning to heavier hard rock riffs. It's a different change of pace even though the music sounds the same as the opening two tracks. Top marks for the band doing something different with their music.

The final two tracks – Devil You Know and The River – sees the band return to their Sleaze/Hard Rock dirty riff ways. The Blues Rock aspect of the band comes out the most with Devil You Know but you can't keep a good band down from playing the heavier destructive sounds.

Down To The River is masterful and highly confident EP from Black Cat Bones. It shows a band with a lot of promise. The Classic/Blues/Hard Rock world have a bright hope with these guys.

Excellent and Highly Recommended.
