Review

Italian Doomedelic Instrumental Rockers L’Ira Del Baccano with a new live album Don’t Panic Sessions: Live At Psychedelic Network Festival 2019 which was recorded live in Germany. The album offers three of L’Ira Del Baccano’s finest tracks with the band bringing a more Progressive Doomed Out energy compared to their acclaimed previous live album Si Non Sedes iS ...LIVE which was originally released back in 2007 and reissued in 2018.

Don’t Panic Sessions is a forty six minute live album with the band playing their blend of heavy doomed out instrumental rock with Abilene being played first. This is the first time I’ve heard this song live and it’s a different and refreshing style to the studio original. With this song being more organic and perhaps even heavier. The trippy sound effects work really well on the live stage with L’Ira Del Baccano showcasing a Post-Rock or Post-Stoner flavour whilst being full on Instrumental Doom.

Up next is Volcano X13 and is my favourite track from this live performance as the band are bang on form here and play intense extended grooves and jams. Perhaps the heaviest part of the album and you can hear the audience in places which gives this album a true LIVE ALBUM feel. The Psychedelic energy and Space Rock themes are aggressive with a sense of calm when the band plays a slower style of music.

Tempus Inane 2019 is a reworking  is an edit version of their classic track Tempus Inane Flago,Requiem Spatiumque Furori from their 2007/2018 release  Si Non Sedes iS ...LIVE and remains one my favourite tracks from the band to this day. This is a great version that the band performed here and it’s three minutes longer than the original track. Running past the twenty one minutes mark. This song is one of the most adventurous tracks the band have ever written. Evoking the spirit of Hawkwind with the DOOMED out sounds of Black Sabbath. Maybe, I still prefer the original version but it’s always good to hear a different version of tracks such as this. Lush sounding Psychedelic moments work really well with the Spaced Rock elements with L’Ira Del Baccano putting in an accomplished live performance.

Don’t Panic Sessions: Live At Psychedelic Network Festival 2019 is another excellent release from L’Ira Del Baccano and it’s being released ahead of their upcoming new album which the band will announce in due course.

So the band have decided to release this album to help them with their forthcoming European Tour to promote the album. It’s being offered as a free download but the band are always open to donations to help them on their way.

If you’re a fan of this band already then this is a must have release. If you’re new to the world of L’Ira Del Baccano then this is the perfect release to get yourselves acquainted with one of the finest Instrumental Doom/Stoner Metal bands from the Italian Heavy Rock Underground Scene.
