Review:

Fuzz/Doom/Punk/Stoner Rockers Fuzz Evil return after a five year slumber with their blistering new album New Blood. Channelling the classic aggressive Garage Rock energy of bands such as The Stooges and MC5 but with a vibrant Doom/Stoner Rock Attitude then Fuzz Evil's blend of rebellious Punk Rock/Fuzz Rock energy will sure appeal to a broader fan-base you would initially expect.

Opening song Suit Coffin is a catchy Garage Rock number with the Fuzz drenched attitude moving into heavier and faster waves of Doom/Stoner Rock with the Punk Rock drive the band have used for their last couple of releases. There's an intense Alt Rock element to this track which comes shining mostly through the spiky lyrics and vocals which can be quite Doom based. Taking cues from bands such as QOTSA, The Hives and even Foo Fighters for a song that remains close to the Fuzz/Stoner Rock underground scene.

Second song My Own Blood opens with a sublime Bass heavy groove before an eerie Eighties Alt-Rock/Post-Punk sound appears with the vocals becoming more Doom based as time moves on. There's a muscular Bass guitar which is perhaps the most powerfully heavy part of the album which impresses me further every time I listen to the album. Fuzz Evil live up to the "EVIL" part of their name as there's some Devilish guitar tones that whilst melodic can also be warped and quite out there in the freakish Psychedelic Rock department.

The next few tracks of Run Away, Perfect Slut, and Heavy Glow keeps up with the Demonic and FUZZED up fun with a raw sounding creative approach within both the delivery of music and vocals. This part of the album allows Fuzz Evil to play with subtle levels of Aggression and pure Sonic Bliss with that bass heavy guitar and frantic drumming leading the way. The record offers a deceiving attitude with surprising levels of Guitar Reverb and Amplifier Distortion. The mood can be quite chaotic but Fuzz Evil are in their element here by playing some of the albums most interesting and heaviest ideas.

The second half from Silver Bells sees Fuzz Evil flirt with the Californian Desert/Stoner landscapes but with a murky grunge flow on tracks such as Silver Bells, G.U.M.O.C.O. and We've Seen It All. The songs could make early-era QOTSA blush with genuine excitement and the vocals do have a certain Josh Homme swagger to them with the bass guitar matching the thunderous tone of Nick Olivieri's time with QOTSA.

New Blood is quite an expansive to listen to across the thirteen tracks that accompany the whole album. I can't cover every track but I will mention that there are more great tracks to check out such as: Souveneers, Littlest Nemo, Gullible's Travel and Keep On Living. There's some superb lyrics and a great sense of humour appearing on this part of the album. Fuzz Evil never run out of fresh sounding ideas throughout the album and all the tracks will keep listeners firmly interested and along for the wild ride they've laid down on this great album.

Production duties are handled superbly well with Fuzz Evil having a different sound compared to 2018's acclaimed album High On You. New Blood is quite similar to High On You but remains the better album. As Fuzz Evil take more daring creative risks on this album. This is an album that has everything you want and more for a true rebellious Fuzz/Doom/Stoner Rock experience from one of the most underrated bands within the Underground scene
