Review:

Spaced Out Doom/Stoner Metallers Kal-El return with a new EP called Moon People which offers their first new music in two years since their celebrated 2021 album Dark Majesty. Kal-El are busy writing their new album and this release gives a huge glimpse on what to expect. Moon People is a more dynamically powerful release with Kal-El stretching into areas of Classic Hard Rock and Vintage Stoner Metal which is merged with Kal-El’s trademark Psychedelic heaviness.

The vocals from The Captain are delivered with his usual confident style that draws upon legends such as Ozzy and Dave Wyndorf. There’s a more kinetic style of Fuzz Rock and Amplified Doom on the stunning opening track Moon People. The instrumental sounds has an eerie Atmospheric and aggressive sound that does see Kal-El drift into their normal style of Progressive based Psychedelic extended jams where the band offer a different style of music in places compared to Dark Majesty.

Second track Universe opens with a sublime drum solo before waves of Psychedelic sounding guitars have a more sense of restraint especially with the production values. However, everything is still wonderfully heavy with echoes of Black Sabbath, Monster Magnet and even Pink Floyd which showcases how Kal-El have grown creatively speaking since their last album.

Moon People is another sublime release from Kal-El who cement their status as one of the essential Doom/Stoner Metal bands within the underground scene currently today.
