Following the release of their acclaimed 2025 record Innervate/Obliterate, Pittsburgh heavy psych rock trio M.E.L.T. are set to release their first live album, 5YBOM – Live at the Sanctuary, available November 20, 2026.
Recorded on July 25, 2026, at Pittsburgh's Mr. Smalls Sanctuary, the album documents the band's 5 years together, featuring a career-spanning setlist of material from their entire discography. M.E.L.T. will celebrate the release with a hometown show at Spirit on November 20, joined by Astrology Now and Org Dröl.
5YBOM – LIVE AT THE SANCTUARY
Short for "5 Years Birth of M.E.L.T.," 5YBOM takes its name from the band's space-themed codename for their fifth anniversary show.
The live recording captures the trio's crushing riffs, psychedelic freakouts, and unpredictable energy that have become staples of their performances since forming in 2021.
The album also marks a first for Mr. Smalls Sanctuary. While other bands have recorded performances at the venue, M.E.L.T. will be the first to officially release a live album from a show there.
The album was engineered and mixed by longtime collaborator Nate Campisi and mastered by Dan Yost, and features artwork by Emily Woddell.
On November 10, M.E.L.T. will release the first single, "Shame," alongside a live music video featuring footage captured during the performance.
5YBOM – Live at the Sanctuary will be available digitally on November 20, with no physical release planned.
ABOUT M.E.L.T.
Since their 2021 debut, M.E.L.T. (formerly MELT) have become a fixture in Pittsburgh's heavy music scene, gaining recognition for their loud, crushing performances and unpredictable crowd interactions, complete with alien dancers and confetti cannons.
The trio have headlined citywide festivals and shared stages with Lightning Bolt, Pigs x7, The Mystery Lights, Rickshaw Billie's Burger Patrol, and Pyschedelic Porn Crumpets.
Their sophomore release, Replica of Man (2023), earned coverage from outlets including Doomed & Stoned, Blood Makes Noise, and Rebel Noise, while 2025's Innervate/Obliterate pushed the band's sound further into progressive, psychedelic, and Sabbath-inspired territory.
Now five years into their existence, M.E.L.T. are revisiting their catalog with their first official live release, recorded in front of a hometown crowd.
