Psych/Doom/Stoner Rockers Phantom Hound New Song/Video Premiere for From Boom Town to Ghost Town

Originally formed in 2013 as “Hound”. The original lineup consisted of Keith Hernandez on bass, Dominic Torres on drums, & Jake Navarra on guitar and vocals. The power trio quickly recorded and released The Ether EP in 2016 focusing on desert rock-driven riffs and grungy blues licks. After several lineup changes in the following years, the core lineup was ironed out with Jack Stiles on drums and Stephen Rogers on bass & keys.

 This new and refreshed lineup explored multiple tunings and influences ranging from doom metal, blues rock, and classic rock then officially expanding the name to “Phantom Hound” in 2018 and collectively focused on self-releasing their debut album Mountain Pass in 2020 via in-house record label Devil Blues Records with producer Chris Hughes.

About the album and title track

The power trio from Oakland began conceptualizing their second full-length album during the pandemic years, lockdown period, and what hit home in the years to Follow

“This record is about changing landscapes, uncertain home fronts, wealth and poverty, struggle and success. It’s about persistence at all costs one day, and accepting when things have come to an end on another. A story of the skeletons in our own backyard.” they explain.

The single "From Boom Town to Ghost Town" carries those concepts:

"The title track was written last and serves as the midway point on this record moving from one place to another. I think everybody can relate to the experience of having to pack up all your shit and move on. Eventually, everything fades away and change is inevitable."

Noise/Doom/Stoner Rockers ZOLLE Premiere New Song PEPE From Upcoming New Album ROSA

Zolle return with an album where the heavy parts are lovingly heavier and the melodic parts are monstrously more melodic than in the past. Imagine Crowbar, on a diet, singing The Ramones refrains at an AC/DC show with Metallica as an opening act. 

ROSA is the Italian word for PINK but it also means ROSE, the flower. ROSA tells, in a universal language, of different elements united by belonging:PINK, as artwork and titles suggest.

Recorded and mixed by Giulio Ragno Favero (Zu, Teatro degli Orrori, OvO) in December 2023 At Macina Studio in Camposampiero (Pd) and mastered by Giovanni Versari (Muse, Verdena) at la Maestà Studio.

ROSA is released by Subsound Records. The Artwork is from Berlikete and Eeviac.

Zolle are an incisive, unconventional rock duo, featured by playful voices and melodies,powerful guitar riffs and super energetic drums. ROSA is conceived in the countryside close to the Po river. 

ZOLLE finds their maximum expression playing live:smiling approach, guaranteed vibration.

SOLARIS Premiere New Song - Ezikmndrek - From Their Forthcoming New Album

SOLARIS present their very own perception of noise-laden rock through powerful riffs, magnetic vocals and industrial soundscapes. Debut full-length 'Un Paese di musichette mentre fuori c’è la morte’ settle the band deep into the prosperous Italian underground scene by means of six inspired tracks recorded and mixed by iconic producer Martin Bisi (Sonic Youth, Swans, Unsane). From noise to heavy psych, the Italian quatuor juggle with influences like Helmet, Disastroid or The Jesus Lizard. Their tortured melodies produce mecanic and resonant emotions to the listener, definitely absorbed by their sonic invitation. 

Out June 19th 2020 on Bronson Recordings, you can hear the new song Ezikmndrek from the upcoming album.

The band have said the following about the new song:

"Pochi secondi di dubbio e remore infinite" (“A few seconds of doubts and endless hesitations") it’s the opening sentence in Ezikmndrek, the song that previews out brand new debut album. It’s a song about the urgency of making a choice and the doubts that fill your head in hard times. As you can hear on the album, we created lyrics and atmospheres that moves from the inner space to the infinite and obscure universe, splitting the instrumental part into persisting grooves and post-metal riffs. Ezikmndrek is personal and introspective, but lets you merge into it’s very own atmospheres"

DÖ Announce New Album Details and Exclusive Song Premiere For COSMIC COMMUNION

Helsinki based, riff-praising, cosmos-worshipping trio DÖ have revealed the lyric video for the new track Cosmic Communion. Taken from their upcoming album Astral Death Cult which releases on the 20th September 2019 on Lay Bare Recordings and Mercyful Tapes.

Astral Death Cult is the bands second full-length album. This vicious death cult lead by Big Dog (guitar), Joe E. Deliverance (drums) and Deaf Hank (vox & bass) feeds on dark astral energy and compresses it into what they call döömer – a unique northern mix of stoner, doom, sludge, and psychedelic elements with hints of death / black metal.

DÖ has slowly but steadily grown the global congregation of döömernauts through a series of independent releases and by touring around Finland and the Baltics, receiving praise from both fans and media all around the world.
The album is being released on Vinyl by the cool folks at Lay Bare Recordings.

The album is also being released on Cassette Tape via Mercyful Tapes

TENEBRA Announce Debut Album Gen Nero And Premiere Of New Song - Cornered.

Gen Nero" is the debut album by Tenebra. It was recorded by Bruno Germano at Vacuum Studio in February 2018 and it represents the band in this particular time period. The album itself features 6 tracks and can be thought of as a single 24-minute suite presented in six movements. It's an amalgam of the band's influences: hard rock, heavy psych, blues and punk.

Tenebra are a four piece band formed in Bologna in October 2017. Claudio (bass), Emilio (guitar) and Mesca (drums) come from the city's hardcore and post-hardcore scene (Settlefish, ED, Gravesite, Assumption) that gravitated around the social center "Atlantide". Silvia, the singer, is the youngest member and she's a huge fan of the underground music scene of the 60's and 70's.

"Gen Nero", their debut album, is set for release on April 22nd.

Here is an exclusive premiere of their new song Cornered.

Cornered is the first excerpt from "Gen Nero" released on April 22nd 2019 on vinyl 12 "limited 200 copies. A 4 minute mid-tempo, the only one on the album, in full heavy rock style like Black Sabbath and co. did in the 70's.

It’s going to be a big year for South African Sludge n Rollers Ruff Majik! The band are very happy to announce their signing to Dutch Label Lay Bare Recordings for new album Tårn, set for release on the 3rd May 2019.

Guitarist and vocalist Johni Holiday adds, “Ruff Majik are extremely proud and excited to announce that we will be joining the Lay Bare family for the release of our new album, “Tårn”! Lay Bare have been putting out exciting high-quality records for the last few years and we’re very happy to finally join in on the action!

To celebrate the signing and new album the band have released a video for Schizophrenic, the 1st single taken from the album. The video is a combination of Sabbath-styled green screen video (circa 1970, think Iron Man and Paranoid) and a loving interpretation and homage to the greatest black metal video ever made (yes, Call of the Wintermoon), with boat-loads of psychedelic colours.

Johni explains, “This video was inspired by our love for Immortal, classic black metal videos, and the psychedelic look and feel of the pioneers and current tastemakers in the stoner rock and doom metal scene.”

The song itself is a fuzz drenched speed metal frenzy, ending in a riff of pure, bleak doom - stuffed full of lyrics about madness and paranoia. An ode to Venom as much as it is to Sabbath.”

Future Usses Announce New Album And New Song Premiere

FUTURE USSES deliver an astounding instrumental record of Devastatingly heavy, oppresively slow, yet shimmery and lush sludge-paced rock run through a filter of nightmarish psychedelia.

It's hard to believe that The Existential Haunting“ is really a debut album.

But while FUTURE USSES have really only played a handful of shows in their short career, main songwriter Sacha Dunable has been a member of INTRONAUT for almost 15 years, andb dabbled with various doom metal projects over the years, like BEREFT (LA).

FUTURE USSES takes small elements of what those bands do and magnifies them, combining the slow-motion crushing power of doom with the atmosphere and dense
harmonic tendencies of INTRONAUT.

Drums and guitar were recorded at Clearlake Audio with Josh Newell (INTRONAUT,CYNIC), Derek Donley (INTRONAUT, BEREFT) and bass with Jon Nunez (TORCHE), alli n Los Angeles. Mixing was done by CONVERGE'S Kurt Ballou at God City Studio.

FUTURE USSES lavish guitar sound is built around live guitar loops which presents a wholeset of limitations but also virtually endless opportunities“, Sacha Dunable comments.

"The beautiful thing about making an instrumental record is that you're not obligated to impose any specific literal message onto the listener, but rather to concentrate on setting a vibe that can be interpreted or personified naturally through the power of their own imagination."
