Review

Pentagrammaton is the debut single from Doom/Sludge/Stoner Metallers Organmother which is a seven minute plus track featuring heavy progressive sludgy grooves with a passion for building up levels of intense Post-Metal sounds. The band are inspired by the likes of High On Fire, Mastodon and Neurosis with a frantic Psychedelic attitude which has some epic GLOOMY beats and a violent atmospheric sound throughout.

Perhaps inspired by the American Sludge/Stoner Metal scene but with an ice cold delivery which isn’t surprising since Organmother are from Bergen, Norway which is delivered mostly through the sublime vocal delivery and lyrics that accompany the track. The vocals from Torstein and Tore are superbly matched and offer a great contrast to each other. Both offer clean vocals but with a harsh and gruff exterior when the time calls for it.

The use of Ambient sounds and modern day Progressive moods is reminiscent of Mastodon and Neurosis in places with the vocals being eerily familiar to Scott Kelly, Brent Hinds and even Ozzy at times. This allows Organmother to deliver a thrilling spectacle of modern day Doom, Sludge and Stoner Metal that becomes more and more intense every time you listen to the whole thing.

If Organmother has an EP or full length album in the works to be released in 2025 then I can’t wait to hear this as the guys have a great sound that could make them one of the first truly exciting bands to look out for.

Pentagrammaton is a track of outstanding quality. Check these guys out now.
