Occult Doom/Stoner Metallers 1782 return with their epic new album Clamor Luciferi which means the scream of Lucifer but it also means noise and uproar according to their BandCamp Page. 1782 embraces that mentality of gloomy based Doom/Stoner Metal with a classic style of Doom Metal that brings an element of Electric Wizard classic style FUZZ to the album. 

There's influences from bands such as SLEEP, COUGH, Black Sabbath and CONAN on this album. The down-tuned tempo moves from AMPLIFIER DISTORTED levels to the more progressive Sludgy grooves that appear on the first half of the album. Everything is moved at a calculated slow pace which brings the more Occult Rock/Metal themes to the forefront of 1782's music. Though, the band use GUITAR REVERB and VIOLENT FEEDBACK SOUNDS as both a defence mechanism and for propelling their music to greater distorted volumes on tracks such as A Merciful Suffering, Succubus and Demons.

1782 play with a more Bass Heavy Direct sound compared to previous albums and that's perhaps down to some fantastic sounds played by Francesco Pintore. The guitars and drums by Marco Nieddu and Gabriele Fancellu respectively bring the more Doomed Out and Fuzzier elements to the album. The album moves at it's own destructive path with very little in the way of melody but full on BRUTE FORCE which gives them a more depressing WEEDIAN sound on the later stages of the album.

Marco's lead vocals may have a similar feel and sound throughout the album but it's the overall journey of the album that allows this perhaps Marco's best vocal performance to date especially on the more gloomier tracks such as Demons, Black Rites, Rivers Of Sins and Devil's Blood. The production values are first rate yet again. Not surprising since this is a Heavy Psych Sounds release. 

Clamor Luciferi is a dark and despairing album which does throw a few cool surprises for extended guitar jams even if those parts are dark twisted pieces of DOOMED OUT FUZZ based metal. 1782 feel inspired by 1970's Horror Movies on this album in places and even start creating their own highly original blend of twisted Occult Horror and Macabre vibes.

if you're looking for an album that's deliberately slow paced and gives the classic Power Trio formation a more primal sound then 1782 have the balls and energy to live up to that twisted vision. The music is always moving forward to the next terrifying based sound but one that allows the listener to "ROCK OUT" or "HEADBANG" in total agreement especially on the later stages of the album.

Clamor Luciferi is a masterclass and outstanding release that can only come from the Underground Occult Doom/Stoner/Sludge Metal scene. If you want an album full of HEAVY TWISTED GROOVES and EERIE CHILLS to match then accept no substitutes. These guys are the real deal!!!

Greetings all,

Way back in 2019, it seems like a lifetime, but only a couple years back, the band 1782 came out of nowhere unleashing their monstrous self titled debut. It was one of my absolute favorite albums of that year. The Italian doom titans return this year with their even more impressive, louder follow up. I couldn't be more excited.

The band's ominous style of pure doom sounds even more relevant and unnerving now with things the way they are.

From the graveyard is loaded with monstrous riff upon monstrous riff. I was reminded on quite a few occasions of early Electric Wizard. The band's sound, while of the traditional doom sense, is straight forward and intense. This new record is a step up production wise from their first. Although I'm not always a fan of that, as I dig lo-fi production myself, it serves the band well. Also, the band has expanded from a duo to a full fledged power trio. From the graveyard is full of dark lyrical imagery when coupled with the band's equally dark and heavy sound it quickly sends the listener to the darkest corners of our mind, right where we want to be.

The album opens with the intro/Evocations, a brief, but ominous set of church bells tolling. The record then explodes into The Chosen One with a big blast of fuzzed out riffage. The onslaught continues with Bloodline. The song opens with an ominous bass intro that brings the drums and fuzz guitar to full bloom. The impressive Black Void follows. Soaked in feedback and a slow drum and bass opening that brings this lumbering behemoth to life, rocking to the point when a dark moody organ solo quiets this beast. Up next is the riff heavy Inferno that pummels to a breakdown then comes back from the dead to finish the job. 

Priestess of Death brings a monstrous repetitive riff that is as fiery as it is hypnotic. Seven Priests carries the torch with a heavy slow intro that (d)evolves into a pool of dissonant riffage. The record closes with the epic cosmic closer, In Requiem. A sludgy bass intro again brings in the monster riff and massive drums that are now accompanied by somewhat ethereal chanting. The song spins into effects heavy way before closing on a dark, monstrous note.

There is definitely no sophomore slump 1782. From the Graveyard is an early ROTY candidate for me. If you need your doom dark and heavy, this is where you find it. If you haven't already, check out the band's debut and darken the room with that and this beast. You will not be disappointed!

1782 Announce New Album - FROM THE GRAVEYARD on HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS RECORDS. New Song Premiere For PRIESTESS OF DEATH

"From The Graveyard" is the second full length of the Occult Doom band "1782". In this album there is a leap in quality as the production is much better than the previous releases. Eight tracks and 43 minutes of pure dark Doom, with slow and powerful riffs, and heavy and massive drumming.

After the recording of "Doom Sessions Vol.2", the band immediately enters the studio and records the heaviest tracks they have done so far, and they have done it while maintaining that catchy state they have always had. Here too there are featurings, Nico Sechi on organ (Hammond in "1782" and "Celestial Voices" in the debut album) and Alfredo Carboni's Synth.

As in the eponymous debut album, the artwork was done by the mighty SSCVLT.
"From The Graveyard" was recorded, mixed and mastered in November 2020 by Alfredo Carboni at "RKS Studios" in Ossi, Sardinia (Italy).

1782 say this about the new song: "Accabadora" is a figure really existed in Sardinia. She was a woman dressed in black who put an end to people's suffering. The last testimony of her intervention dates back to 1952. She wandered around the village at night in search of open doors, if she found one it meant that inside that house a life was about to extinguish. She had her wooden hammer and with it, giving a strong blow to the back of the head, she put an end to the person's suffering. She was also called the "Priestess of Death". This song wants to convey the sensations that could be felt while waiting for this woman, anxiety, torment and perhaps peace.

Greetings All,

With all of the technology in the world these days there isn’t a lot of mystery, especially when it comes to music. A couple of clicks and you can find out damn near everything about a band, song, genre, etc. It is pretty god-damn cool when you find a real, intriguing mystery. 1782 is one of those mysteries, all I am sure of is that the band is an Italian doom duo that formed near the end of 2018 and are named after the last year in which Witches were executed in Europe. 

The band’s debut self titled record is being released by the amazing Italian outfit Heavy Psych Sounds. The sound of the duo is a fuzzed out brand of doomy occult/garage rock with heavy bass and drums, scuzzed out guitars, and lo-fi vocal delivery.

Intro (...to the church) opens the record with a brief eerie opening of church bells and crackling fire that creates a bit of an unsettling mood. Night of Draculia follows with a cool fuzzed out riff and some echoey/lo-fi vocals weaving a dark tale. The Spell (Maleficium Vitae) comes at you hard with an homage to Lucifer buried in a massive, bass heavy riff and monstrous cymbal crashes before mixing in some evil sounding chants that really drive the track home.

She Was A Witch was the first song recorded by the band and features Heavy Psych Sounds/Black Rainbows main man Gabriele Fiori delivering some searing guitar work (I believe) over some dark ominous guitar sounds and some more depraved/growled vocals. Black Sunday comes next with a more massive/plodding bass and drum approach.

Oh Mary is a bit of an unhinged metal romp with a bit of a bass groove and start/stop kind of rhythm that uneasily carries the “Oh Mary” refrain to an unsettling end. The band’s self titled song, 1782, is a mostly instrumental, bass driven gem that rocks itself into a heavy Hammond organ driven end. The organ sound carries into the album closer, a cover of the Pink Floyd classic Celestial Voices, from the band's Saucerful of Secrets record. The song is a fitting close that stays fairly true to the original and acclimates itself well to the bands, heavy/fuzzed out sound.

1782 is the perfect dose of fuzzed out psych rock brilliance. The record is not too long and not too short. It is just enough to have this guy already jonesing for the next record. If you dig Mephistopheles or early Uncle Acid, you should most definitely give 1782’s self titled debut a listen. You can heavily dig on this!
