Review:

Reading now has a thriving "scene" thanks to Bones and The MoM boys who run The Swamp on the first Friday of every month at The Facebar. The general idea is at each night MoM play, an out of town band, a headliner and one local act. Check out the link for more info.

Well it would appear that Reading now have another addition to the live circuit. Workin' Man Noise Unit play the kinda blustery, bold garage rock, that people who don't like garage rock say is garage rock. You know what I mean? Cool....

A wicked album, with a kinda solid blues groove throughout. Album opener "With Love Supreme" being a great example of this and lasting at just under two minutes sets the tone for the record.

And whilst we're talking about tone, we need to talk about just how fucking good this album sounds. Excellent production, that keeps it raw enough to retain the obvious energy of tracks like "Icegrill 420", but polished enough to give it a huge sound.

The first half of the album is over in a flash with the first four tracks barely making up ten minutes between them. The later stages of the album gives us a few more lengthy numbers, like the excellent desert (NOT dessert) flavoured "Yeah I Was Hypnotised" and "Smoke Like Hell"

In short this a great new record from a great new band. Confident and full of swagger and full of infectious songs that will get stuck on your turntable and in your head. Out now on a limited LP run, so head over to the bands Facebook page and pick one up, whilst you still can. I'm going to.....
