Your Planet Is Doomed is the new EP from Doom/Drone/Stoner Metallers Alien Sleeper Ships and it’s a heavy pounding blend of Droned Out Sounds with a deep mysterious aura steeped within the heavy Sludgy driven grooves. Parts Sabbath, SLEEP, UFOMAMMUT, CONAN and SUNN 0))). This Psychedelic Duo brings a thunderous style of LOW & SLOW style of Doom/Drone/Stoner Metal with a highly intelligent Psychedelic Sound.
Alien Sleeper Ships manage to find and play the rarest kind of feature with this style of Drone based music. They play a high amount of great riffs which I didn’t expect. The grooves are on the LOW & SLOW side of things but Alien Sleeper Ships bring excellent riff-based insight when they’re not experimenting with Ambient Noises and bone-crunching Noise Driven AMPLIFIER SOUND.
The EP runs around twenty minutes in length but there’s a lot of variety if you dig the more Droned Out style of Doom/Stoner Metal. The songs are experimental and progressive in nature but it’s the journey that Alien Sleep Ships takes you upon with the first track Temple Of Infra-Red Vapour being my favourite.
This song has a deeply distorted and slightly disturbing WEEDIAN feel and flow which carries into the excellent second song - General Transmogrification.
Alien Sleeper Ships is wonderfully different and the Ambient Sounds just add to this superbly produced release. If you’re a fan of the bands that I mentioned earlier, then you should give these guys a chance. As this EP is brimming with attitude, outstanding music and sheer creativity that will make you come back time and time again.
