APF Records is thrilled to welcome Elan to the family and announce their upcoming release, "Elan Vs Elan", a split album with a twist—two personalities, one band. 

What might seem like an unconventional concept is simply business as usual for Elan. "Elan Vs Elan" showcases the distinct creative duality of its founding members, Shane Miller (A Horse Called War, William English) and Joseph Woodbury (William English, Armed with Books). The album is divided into two halves, both recorded at Bombstore Studios, but at separate times—emphasizing the band’s fractured yet cohesive musical identity. This marks Elan’s second release, following their 2015 self-released demo. 

Hailing from Norwich, Elan is a two-piece sludge metal and noise-rock project built on raw energy, dark atmospheres, and a deep love of film and TV. With Shane handling vocals, guitar, and bass, and Joe on drums, they craft a sound as intense as their inspirations. The band's alter egos, Billie and Dianne, add another surreal layer—rabbit-masked figures born from the unsettling world of David Lynch. 

Originally formed in 2015, Elan was put on hold when Joe relocated to the US. With his return in 2019, the project was reborn, culminating in the recording of eight new tracks in 2023. Each song on "Elan Vs Elan" draws inspiration from cult cinema and television, weaving together the band’s love for savagely experimental soundscapes and visual storytelling.

Exclusive Premiere Of Sludge/Stoner Metallers SIXYEARHEX New Song/Video For WALK ON BY

Hailing from North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, SIXYEARHEX is a passion project for Rob Broyhill, who wrote and recorded all parts, as well as mixed the debut EP, Under The Glow. For live performances, Rob enlists the services of a drummer, rounding out the lineup to comprise a thunderous power duo. Blazing a new sonic trail, SIXYEARHEX takes a lean, uniquely distilled approach to doom and desert rock; all while embracing efficiency, hooks, and the power of the almighty riff.

Hard Rock/Psych Rock Band THE LANCASTERS Premiere New Song/Video THE QUEST From Their Upcoming New Album

The Quest' is from The Lancasters's forthcoming album, 'The Word of the Mistral', scheduled for late 2024.

The band commented that "We produced this video clip by gathering footage from our last tour with J.P. Shilo (Mick Harvey, Hungry Ghosts), Mika Bajinski (Sometimes With Others), and Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth). We entrusted our friend and director, Tony Fried, to edit this piece, as we felt it was best to maintain some distance from the content, allowing us to better convey the message we intended with 'The Quest' That tour was merely the beginning of our future projects, but it gave us the strength to harness our collective inner energy, akin to the resolve that supported fearless ancient pilgrims on their journeys.

None of us in the band believe in the Catholic Church or Christianity. However, we were deeply moved by the immense and astonishing aesthetic created by humanity in its search for God and the struggle to purify their souls. St. Michael is one of the central figures in the lives of pilgrims. He is as strong as the sword he wields, yet merciful at the same time. In the lyrics of this song, he addresses the Four Horsemen, whom we have chosen as the main characters for our concept album.

'The Word of the Mistral' will be the name of our next LP, symbolising the voice of us all carried by the wind that leads us to the truth. It also represents the voices of the guides who hold our hands, making us feel braver and safer. We are collaborating closely with Retro Vox Records to release our album this autumn, along with several singles that will precede the LP's launch."

Exclusive Premiere Of Psych Stoner Rockers ANUSEYE New Song/Video ODESSA From Upcoming New Album RIGHT PLACE WRONG TIME

After three highly appreciated records, ANUSEYE are back with Right Place Wrong Time. This concept album is the first of two chapters and deals with space/ time perception. It’s a journey, a little bit real and a little bit dreamlike, to explore

places relevant to the inner consciousness of the band members because they evoke emotions, thoughts, and inspirations. Departures and arrivals are on a loop: each song is named after a city, each city represents a trip, and each trip is a song. The nine tracks feature the artistic maturity of these Heavy Psych veterans, blended with fresh sounds and beautiful arrangements in Psych/Kraut sauce. The digital version is expanded with three bonus tracks to keep on tripping.

ABOUT THE BAND

Anuseye is a band formed in 2010 from the ashes of That’s All Folks! That early group pioneered the Stoner Rock genre in the 90s Italian music scene and shared stages and releases with iconic names such as Nebula, Ufomammut, Firebird, and Roadsaw. Anuseye’s mastermind is musician Claudio Colaianni, also known to Psych fans for Colt.38 as his side project releasing good value gems since 2001. In particular, the self-titled album, reissued by Nasoni Records in 2008, received praise from British psy chedelic musicians such as Bari Watts, Nick Saloman (The Bevis Frond), Julian Cope, and Adrian Shaw.

Anuseye’s sound moves away from the Heavy Rock of previous bands to embody 60s Psych Rock with higher technical and artistic awareness. They performed on stage with The Fuzztones, Vibravoid, The Warlocks, Yawning Man, Hypnosis, and more. Their self-titled debut album was produced by UK-based John Wills (Loop, Hair & Skin Trading Company) and released by Interbang Records in 2011. The cover features a controversial artwork by artist Massimo Gurnari, who created an ultra-limited version of 30 hand-painted copies.

In 2014, the band signed with the indie label Vincebus Eruptum Recordings and relea sed Essay On A Drunken Cloud on LP and CD bundled with Vincebus Eruptum fanzine #18. In 2019, the 12” vinyl 3:33 333 was released for the same label, and the music press reviewed it as one of the year’s best records. The cover features artwork by Boris Pramatarov, a Bulgarian artist with whom the band forges a lasting collaboration. The connection between music and art is very dear to Anuseye.

After several changes, the lineup features leader Colaianni on guitar and vocals, multi-instrumentalist Stefano Pomponio (ex Madre De Dios) on guitar, keys, piano, and backing vocals, Giovanni D’Elia (ex Karma In Auge) on bass, and Cosimo Armenio (ex Apulian Blues Foundation) on drums and percussion.

In 2023, Anuseye signed with Go Down Records to release their fourth record Right Place Wrong Time. A concept album about traveling, halfway between the real and the dreamlike, through the places that have shaped the musicians’ inner consciousness. The cover artwork is again by Pramatarov, and the LP and digital release is due in Fall 2023.

Exclusive Song & Video Premiere For Instrumental Post-Rock Duo IN THE PONDS New Song - "Playing with Matches”

On the heels of their second EP Fever Canyon, San Jose-based instrumental post-rock duo IN THE PONDS will release their third EP, The Last Stop Ranch this coming November.

As The Last Stop Ranch release date draws near, the band presents a video for the track “Playing with Matches.”

IN THE PONDS is a poet and a filmmaker getting married and starting an instrumental post-rock duo during pandemic lockdowns and California wildfires. It’s a honeymoon spent in quarantine, staring at soot-filled skies wondering how to capture feelings of isolation, dread, and love without using words. 

Their music pays homage to classic rock while experimenting with atmospheric textures for a sound that’s both familiar and otherworldly.

The Last Stop Ranch works with a classic rock tone palette—sizzly SG humbuckers and wobbly delays,to name a few primary colors. For the band, discovering the tracks was like stumbling across the mouth of a cave; something about it makes you get quiet and crane your neck towards the dark. This is the music they imagine you’d hear from an abandoned mine shaft or a dried-up well if you lowered yourself down and listened to what the walls had to say.

The Last Stop Ranch was recorded by guitarist David Perez and mixed by Art Bertik. The front cover artwork was created by bassist Jennifer Gigantino.

"Playing with Matches—both as a song and a video concept—came to us at the height of the 2020 California wildfires. Like so many people, we were huddled indoors, staring out at gray-orange skies. Even with all the doors and windows closed, the air smelled like soot and there was this ominous haze blanketing everything. This coincided with Covid and shelter-in-place. You knew eventually the fires and the lockdowns would end, but you didn’t know what the world would look like when they did. It started to feel like nature was cleaning house to make room for something else. The perfect environment for songwriting really—because you don't have to think about what the riff should sound like. You just play until you hear something that sounds like the experience you’re living."

Exclusive Premiere Of Psych Stoner Rockers PHE New EP NOTHING ELSE IS REAL

Phe is a three-piece band with heavy, groovy, bluesy riffs, a strong voice and memorable lyrics. Somewhere on the outskirts of Helmond, The Netherlands, around 2014 AD Phe was born. Emerging from previous bands, the three found each other and the mighty groove in Phe.

With a shared love for the dark, the raw and the heavy, the three molded their jams into long form rock songs, using elements of stoner, psych, heavy blues and a touch of prog. So far, they released a self-titled EP in 2017, an album called Glooming Dawn in 2020 and the new EP Nothing Else Is Real which will be released October 7th, 2023.

Exclusive Video Premiere Of Doom/Stoner Metallers ORBITER New Track SILENCE BREAKS From Upcoming New Album.

Doom/Stoner Metallers ORBITER will be releasing their stunning new album Hollow World on September 22nd 2023 via Italian Powerhouse label Argonauta Records.

The label describes the album as "Riff worship and swirling psychedelia from Finland! Recommended if you like WINDHAND, CHELSEA WOLFE and REVEREND BIZARRE."

To get you further in the mood and build up anticipation for the album then we have the exclusive song and video premiere for Silence Breaks. 

Orbiter singer and music video director Carolin Koss states this about the track.

"Silence Breaks is the opening track of our album, although it’s actually the very last track we wrote for it. We wanted to create a song that summarises the different elements and moods on the record, something exceptionally heavy yet fragile and sensual. I came up with the idea for the music video when I was walking home one dark and quiet autumn night, listening to the album fresh from the mixing and mastering on my headphones. While being on the move, the song somehow gives a strong empowering feeling, but on the other hand it also makes you stop and connect deeply with nature, yourself, and others. So I wanted to create a video that captures these sensations and depicts a communal journey and ritual."

Canadian Hard Rock/Stoner Rock heavy hitters LA CHINGA will be releasing their new album Primal Forces through Ripple Music on October 6th 2023.

"Primal Forces" was written and recorded during the tumultuous times of riots, lockdowns and pandemic: a perfect ground for dystopian vibes to permeate the lyrics and album storyline. Exclusive Premiere Of Psych Doom/Sludge Metallers GRIN New EP BLACK NOTHINGNESS

Shrouded in a haze of hyper amplified bass drones and layers of sepulchral voices, heavy psych-doom outfit GRIN continue to unravel the thread of their psychedelic mythology with a brief exercise in absurd heaviness and DIY ethics.

Consisting of six short compositions, Black Nothingness eschews the duo’s characteristic use of guitar embellishments, instead relying solely on the driving force of their recognisable drum and bass sound. Returning to the essence of their sound, GRIN uncover the source of the ecstatic quality of their music, while inviting you to partake in another bedazzling odyssey through the astral plane and beyond.

The groundwork of GRIN’s trademark heavy drum and bass sound was already laid as early as their 2018 debut album Revenant, which is no surprise, since power couple Jan and Sabine (Earth Ship / Slowshine) have been actively making heavy riff-laden tunes for over ten years. Their second album Translucent Blades (2020) further solidified GRIN’s brand of sludgy psychedelic doom metal with the addition of high pitched guitar drones and eerie soundscapes.

Again recorded in Jan Oberg’s own Hidden Planet Studio, Phantom Knocks (2022) had the same earth-shattering qualities as its predecessors, but is in every way more vivid and more powerful, aptly demonstrating how the Berliners have perfected their chemistry.

Greenseeker Premiere New Song And Video For UNCHARTED REALMS

Greenseeker worships at the altar of proto-metal and heavy psych, steeped in classic riffs and fantastic lyrics. Formed in 2019, Greenseeker hit the ground running and the band recorded its first demo, plainly titled Greenseeker, in the spring of 2020. The work continued from there, with Greenseeker recording debut album The Wish for release later this year.

Many bands deal in retro sounds but few are able to combine classic proto-metal and modern heavy psych in the way that Greenseeker do. Their demo caught the ear of the doom underground, nabbing the band a record deal with StoneFly Records. They’ve also earned a reputation as a must-see, sharing the stage with some of the best talent across the Pacific Northwest, including Ealdor Bealu, Alltar, Ash Eater, and Egotones.

The Wish is due out on vinyl later this summer, with Greenseeker continuing to push forward in the meatime. 

The quartet plan to record a new EP in the spring in between regional shows, where Greenseeker has earned a reputation for improvisaton-laden performances. Greenseeker are the next force in heavy psych, Portland’s latest vital export.

The band say this about the new video and song

The Wish" takes the listener on a journey through a fantasy universe filled with dark magic and mysterious characters. The High Priestess rules over the inhabitants of this realm through fear and subterfuge, but fear of her own mortality and weakness leads her to seek an even greater power.

Several tales are told throughout the album, but the primary arc is played out in three acts: In The Wheel and the Stone, the High Priestess sends an adventurer out to find an enchanted stone believed to grant wishes, which she believes will sate her desire. In Uncharted Realms, an observer with the power to travel between worlds witnesses the Priestess unleash terror across the land and its citizens as her crusade for the stone wages on. Finally, in the title track, the Priestess holds the store in her possession - but will it truly grant her wish?
