BloodWood
is Two Tales Of Woe first actual new extended release since their
debut album was released back in 2009. Sure the band have released a
Live Album and a couple of singles since then. However this is the
first new release of extended material in a decade. So this is a
great reason to check out what the Sludge/Doom Metal Riffsters have
come up with in BloodWood.
The
band offer 5 excellent sounding songs that feature elements of Doom,
Sludge, Stoner Metal, Southern Rock and Heavy Metal for a thrilling
and violent ride from start to finish. Taking influence from Thin
Lizzy, Crowbar and Mastodon, the band still offer their own highly
vibrant and HEAVY AS FUCK SOUND.
The
EP can be very raw at times but Two Tales Of Woe remains constantly
FRANK, BRUTAL and HEAVY throughout. The progressive Sludge/Southern
Metal riffs of Purging Of Sinners, Devil’s Mark and Terror Inside
are the standout songs on the EP. As this is where Two Tales Of Woe
play the heaviest sounds contained on the EP. You can even here the
band playing Groove and Thrash Metal on the later stages of the EP.
BloodWood is a superbly entertaining EP and Doom/Sludge Metal fans should check
out Two Tales Of Woe now. As they have delivered the goods with this
EP and I’m hoping there is a full length album coming out sooner
rather than later.
