What is the genre of music that you play?
“Hardcore stoner blues” is what we’ve ended up calling it, and even if it varies that gives a pretty good sense of what it’s about. A heavily riffing power duo with a singing drummer and a guitar run through three amps. Melodic, jazz-inspired vocals.
We have been releasing stuff with our guitar duo Molosser – two downtuned acoustic guitars plus vocals – for a couple of years, but since both of us come from a noisier background we needed to express that part, too. So we gave it a try with some of the Molosser songs, but with Jahn on an old-fashioned jazz box run through tons of distortion and Tess back behind the drums and still doing the vocals. It turned out better than expected, we released a live-in-the studio video with a song called “Bye Bye Grace” pretty much right away and it took of like a rocket. We recently released a follow-up video, “Pushing My Way”, and obviously people like that one, too. More to come in the near future.
What can people expect from your music?
Being a duo, we get a pretty unique sound out of our instruments – but no less heavy than a full band, actually. We tweak the amps so that they play with and against each other, and being just the two of us we don’t have to hold back to make room for others. So … people can expect great tunes that sound not quite like anything else without being difficult.
