Exclusive Premiere Of Noise Rock/Sludge Metallers BLEETH Stunning New EP Lázara

Drive through the neighborhoods of Southwest Miami and you’ll see him: San Lázaro, standing in a glass enclosure among the manicured lawns and palm fronds. Eerily positioned between the divine and the mundane, he is a constant, quiet fixture of the city.

For us, the origin of this EP traces back to one of those statues in particular. While we were writing in a cramped side room, a human-sized San Lázaro stared back at us. At first, it was just a joke—a creepy visitor crashed our sessions. But over time, the image of Lazarus became a sort of talisman, a presence that wove itself into the fabric of these songs.

That shift didn't happen in a vacuum. With the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community feeling more precarious by the day, these sessions became a necessary outlet for our collective rage. We needed a way to process the uncertainty and the weight of the current political landscape.

In that pressure cooker, Lazarus took on a new meaning. Through a queer lens, he became a figure marked and cast aside, only to be brought back to life. That tension between collapse and renewal, death and resurrection, is the heartbeat of Lázara.

This set of songs is a new beginning for us. After a period of turbulence that could have easily ended the band, we came out the other side with the heaviest, most eclectic music we’ve ever made.

Review

Psych/Blues/Acid/Retro Rockers Samsation self-titled debut EP is a highly confident release with the band focusing upon their love for all things 60’s and 70’s Rock with a capital RAWK. The EP is quite low-key with its reliance on subtle flashes of Blues Rock with some flashy Progressive chords appearing at the start. Though, the band are quite adept at playing Classic Hard Rock sounds with a twinge of melody and flashes of extended guitar solos.

The EP gets off to a highly confident start with opening track Shiny Mama which is where Samsation throw themselves into the wilder and freakier ACID ROCK style of the 1960’s with a mellow Blues Rock/Jazz approach on the later stages of the track. The vocals are overly powerful when the heavier moments appear with Samsation showing small traces of classic sounding Stoner Rock attitude.

Second song Rail Oppressed opens with a killer bassline and superb organ sounds with Samsation getting fully into the Hard Rock spirit with a moody atmosphere brewing in the background. Flashes of certain legendary bands of the 1960’s and 1970’s can be heard but Samsation uses these influences sparsely and wisely to allow their own blend of devilish music to grow at a natural pace. The seedy Blues Rock vibe once again sweetens the deal for some thrilling extended guitar solos.

The later stages have a more rebellious sound perhaps inspired by The Doors which you can feel within the creative strands of the excellent third song Frozen In Time with the vocals inspired by Jim Morrison in places but with a less is more delivery. The music remains gloriously hip to the 1960’s Rock scene with Samsation offering a more surreal and dreamlike rebellious sound. 

The final two tracks of Black Cat and Psycho Boom have a more dynamic 1970’s Prog Rock and Classic Rock flair with the mood being more heavier with quite a Funk Rock driven sound appearing within Black Cat. Psycho Boom is the heaviest and aggressive track on the EP where Samsation almost ventures into the world of DOOM ROCK but that Classic Hard Rock swagger avoids that collision for perhaps the standout track on the EP.

Samsation’s debut EP is a superbly entertaining affair for its twenty four minutes run time with the band delivering and playing all the right notes to make themselves known within the Classic Hard Rock scene. I have a feeling the band will offer something different for their next release and this is just a stepping stone for Samsation to entice listeners with. And I’ll be waiting with great interest for their next release. As this is a great release. End Of.

Exclusive Premiere Of Psych Doom/Sludge Metallers GRIN New EP BLACK NOTHINGNESS

Shrouded in a haze of hyper amplified bass drones and layers of sepulchral voices, heavy psych-doom outfit GRIN continue to unravel the thread of their psychedelic mythology with a brief exercise in absurd heaviness and DIY ethics.

Consisting of six short compositions, Black Nothingness eschews the duo’s characteristic use of guitar embellishments, instead relying solely on the driving force of their recognisable drum and bass sound. Returning to the essence of their sound, GRIN uncover the source of the ecstatic quality of their music, while inviting you to partake in another bedazzling odyssey through the astral plane and beyond.

The groundwork of GRIN’s trademark heavy drum and bass sound was already laid as early as their 2018 debut album Revenant, which is no surprise, since power couple Jan and Sabine (Earth Ship / Slowshine) have been actively making heavy riff-laden tunes for over ten years. Their second album Translucent Blades (2020) further solidified GRIN’s brand of sludgy psychedelic doom metal with the addition of high pitched guitar drones and eerie soundscapes.

Again recorded in Jan Oberg’s own Hidden Planet Studio, Phantom Knocks (2022) had the same earth-shattering qualities as its predecessors, but is in every way more vivid and more powerful, aptly demonstrating how the Berliners have perfected their chemistry.

Low Tide Riders Premiere New EP WICKED In Full Ahead Of It's Release On February 25th February

Formed in 2017 in the Brazilian city of Curitiba the band Low Tide Riders is an effervescent mix of influences. With members from different segments, ranging fro Hardcore to Metal, including Stoner Rock, the quartet delivers their sound with a powerful truth.

Featuring in their formation experienced names from the local scene the band is composed by João Carlos (vocals), Hell Santos (bass), Maurício Albiero (guitar) and Carlos Sabião (drums), each one with their own background and a remarkable contribution to the band. Hardcore, Stoner, Classic Rock, Heavy Metal, elements of each style are included in the sound presented by the group, which results in something free of labels in the end, allowing each listener to absorb the energetic sound of the band in a different way.



Even having a relatively short time of existence Low Tide Riders has an interesting and attractive curriculum. The guys officially debuted in the second half of 2020 with "The Road", a four-track EP that introduced the band's potential and energy to the public with a explosive mix of Stoner Rock, Metal and Hard Rock. 

At the end of tbe same year they presented "Live At Fuzz Studio" capturing live all the sound power of the group in an impeccable recording. Earlier this year the band delivered one of their new tracks called "Stand Up or Rise Up" in a recording on the iconic. TENDA, shown on Studio Tenda's Youtube, dedicated to recording bands.

Now the band prepares the way for "Wicked", a new EP scheduled for release on
February 25th. The EP features 3 unreleased compositions and a re-recording. The
record was made at the end of 2021 at Fuzz Studio and again has the production of
Diogo Zotto. The evolution of the band is evident, now bringing even more layers,
more complex lines and "sing-alongs" that promise to shake up the shows. The seventies references allied to low tunings are already a trademark of the band.

NILES Take Flight And Premiere New EP - OWL

Bio

Niles comes from the creative mind of Breno Casquet, vocalist and guitarist in the band Casquetaria and owner of the label Fuzzrious. Founded in late 2018, the project approach to the Drone sound with experimentation of psychedelic dimensions, Indian environment and nuances trials. Developing this musicality, the project has alreadyhas two albums: “Niles” and “Amor Fati”, both released in February 2021. "OWL" represents the duality of the human being and its consequences interpretations under nature that somehow tries to dominate. The Greeks said that the owl is the symbol of wisdom for considering the night with the moment of intellectual revelation and philosophical thought. And the owl for having nocturnal habits ended up representing the search for knowledge. Because of this, the goddess Athena had an owl as a mascot. North American Indian tradition says the owl lives in the East, a place of enlightenment. Just like mankind fears the darkness, the owl sees the black of night. However, in the Roman Empire for example the bird was considered ominous and your singing would foreshadow the near death

The experience offered by the EP suggests both speed and calm, permeating by instrumental songs with intervals and attention to each instrument. The 4 tracks represent an intro and light and the flame for approaches of symbolism and mysticism. The beautiful art comes from by Hellio Goatgrinder and translates the effects of each compounding element to consolidate meaning, and brings the meaning of the songs to life. The tracks were produced on Home Studio “Fuzzy Life” in São Paulo and was mastered by Thiago Nascimento at Gambs Studio in São José do Rio Preto. “Owl” will be officially released on digital platforms on August 20th.

The Lowdown

WALL is the new band from Ryan and Elliot Cole, better known as members of UK Sludge/Stoner Metal Royalty – Desert Storm. This project came was conceived during COVID-19 Lockdown and the guys trying to find a way of stopping the boredom setting in and having a musical output for their creative endeavours. So WALL was born.
