HASHTRONAUT launched into orbit from their Denver-based Mission Control in the summer of 2020. Coalescing through a string of hazy jam sessions during the darkest days of the pandemic, the four-piece began playing live the minute they could, and it took only a few gigs to solidify their electrifying reputation in the Colorado heavy scene.
 
With a distinct sonic identity that channels classic elements from Black Sabbath and Thin Lizzy to mainstays of the modern canon like Windhand and Monolord — along with their collective love of vintage gear, walls of speakers and the sweetest leaf of all — HASHTRONAUT’s galactic tones, colossal riffs and driving rhythms have begun spreading to the farthest corners of the universe.
 
Keeping momentum high on the heels of a self-released EP and opening slots for icons like Pallbearer, Bongzilla and High on Fire, HASHTRONAUT head into 2024 preparing for the release of their debut LP "No Return" — a resiny slab in the grand tradition of weed-fiend odysseys from Sleep — on March 22nd through New Mexico-based independent label Blues Funeral Recordings.

FOREST CATHEDRAL

The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness.” — John Muir

A walk in the woods. That’s what inspired Red Mesa’s new single “Forest Cathedral” on Desert Records. Not to sound trite, but even saying that anything “inspired” the song is a misnomer. A more accurate way to explain how the song came about is that it was “revealed” to bass player Alex Cantwell during repeated hikes in the same area of Oak Flat in Tijeras, NM. 

“In New Mexico where we live”, explains Alex, “ there are different topographies within a short drive from each other including high desert landscapes, forested mountains, river valleys with old growth trees called the bosque, sand dunes, grass plains, salt flats, caves, etc . This provides an aesthetic variety and different perspectives. I spent 10 months renting a cabin in the mountains in the forest, and it was an amazing place to spend time.  I especially loved my frequent hikes, and this song, riff by riff was all pieced together in my head as the muse provided it to me and made it available for me to snatch out of the air. The lyrics are simply an outpouring of simple gratitude for the forest itself”. 

“Forest Cathedral” sees Red Mesa embracing it’s gratitude and reverence for something else as well; doom metal. While their 2020 album “The Path to the Deathless” saw the band branch out from a desert rock format with nods to Kyuss, but also Motorhead, east coast doom, and expansive soundscapes that would give way to quiet acoustic passages and death metal alike, this new single is a nod to true doom, but done in Red Mesa’s ever-evolving style.

PREORDER for “Forest Cathedral” will be available on April 1st.

The Amblers release second track from their upcoming Live At High Seas EP

Justin Swart and Jason Hinch deliver an intricate and impassioned performance on Sticks and Stones – Live from High Seas, the latest single from The Amblers’ upcoming live studio album. The track is vibrant and distinctive, possessing the vintage signature sound that will forever be associated with the blues-rock duo.

The guitar sound is a blissed-out Twin Reverb fuzz-fest that hits like a ten-ton hammer dressed in furs, the drums dig deep into the Bonham ‘tight but loose’ swing of Bonham legacy (complete with bombastic weight), and the vocals soar with ethereal, cavernous delicacy, making for a delicious array of sounds that totally, totally dig on each other.

“Sticks and Stones is a song we really enjoy playing live. A rumbling rollercoaster. Slow, gentle open with a balls to the wall centre-piece, leaning into a gentle close. It's quite the romance.” Comments guitarist and vocalist Justin Swart.

Noise & Sludge influenced Mathcore band KRZTA premiere new single!

Polish mathcore band KRZTA have announced an October 8th release date for their new album "ŻÓŁĆ.NISZCZENIE.ZGLISZCZE.". First track of the upcoming record called "Istota" is now streaming on YouTube. The album will be released by Polish independent label Piranha Music.

KRZTA was formed in Olsztyn (Poland) in 2015. Their music is a heavy and loud mix of mathcore with sludge, noise or even post-metal influences full of anger, massive riffs, driven by a bone-crushing rhythm section. Their self-titled debut album was highly appreciated in the Polish underground metal scene, but what the band is famous for are their AMAZING and really intense live shows.

Desert Druid And The Acid Caravan Release New Single THE WITCH

Band Bio

Formed in early 2020 in the city of Sorocaba / SP by three musicians who have known each other for a decade and have been in other bands, the band Desert Druid and the Acid Caravan seeks to bring to their sonority elements of classic bands from the Heavy Metal and Doom Metal, adding a few touches of Stoner Rock. Between the references, seminal names like Electric Wizard, Saint Vitus, Black Sabbath and Pentagram, as well as names like Uncle Acid.

Recorded at Covil Studio in Sorocaba in 2020, “The Witch” is the EP of debut of the trio formed by F. Klinger (bass / vocals), P.Nass (guitar) and E.Lisboa (drums) and consists of four tracks where 70s Hard Rock, Doom Metal and Stoner intertwine in an atmosphere dark and obscured, inviting the listener on a journey through atmosphere of dense riffs coupled with a clean and ethereal vocal, if based on the occult theme and aesthetics. The Witch is scheduled to launch in early May on platforms digital, and the title track will come out as a single in April.
